Bengbu Prison Hospital Personnel Torture Falun Dafa Practitioners with Drug Injections By a practitioner in Anhui Province, China
(Clearwisdom.net) Many Falun Dafa practitioners from Northern Anhui
Province are being persecuted at the Bengbu Prison Hospital. Practitioners there
have been forcibly injected with unknown substances, resulting in serious
injuries. The medical staff there administers injections following the guideline
"to disregard whatever injuries result from the torture, as long as the person
still breathes and is alive." After being given the injections, many Dafa
practitioners suffer from internal bleeding and lowered blood pressure, and some
go into shock. To assure that practitioners renounce their belief, they are divided into two
distinct groups, "normal treatment" and "special treatment." "Normal treatment,"
practitioners are kept in the hospital for 2 to 3 weeks. They are forced to take
drugs and hypodermic injections administered by unethical doctors. At the end of
the treatment period, practitioners are forced to pay 2,000 to 3,000 Yuan (1) in
medical expenses. "Special treatment" practitioners are brutally tortured until
they are barely alive. Hospital director Chen usually instigates and oversees
such treatment. According to hospital personnel, when the police first bring in a
practitioner, Chen orders a doctor and about six inmates to tie the practitioner
to a bed. Many practitioners' arms are injured during the struggle. Then the
doctor injects the practitioner with an unknown substance that causes the
practitioner to lose consciousness. They then cuff the practitioner's hands to
each side of the bed and the legs to the bed frame, so that all four limbs are
stretched apart. Once the practitioner is secured to the bed, the doctor starts
an intravenous injection of another substance. While the drug is being
administered, the practitioner's blood pressure drops to below 40 mmHg, and the
practitioner's heart begins to fail. Sometimes, the practitioner's condition
becomes critical due to internal bleeding. Also blood is discharged from the
lower body. Some practitioners even become comatose, in which case the prison
doctor revives them, as ordered by Chen. Some practitioners have been repeatedly
tortured using such methods. When it becomes difficult to revive the
practitioner, the prison doctor will invite medical experts from Bengbu Medical
School to help. Following orders from the so-called assignment agency, such
torture methods intend to destroy the practitioner's mind and body. In the hospital, Dafa practitioners are cuffed to iron beds around the clock.
Forced intravenous injections can last from one to several weeks. The drugs
completely destroy a person's body. After the injections stop, the practitioners
are extremely weak. Other symptoms include urinating blood, coughing up blood,
blood pressure being as high as 280 mmHg, numbness of hands and feet,
uncontrollable trembling, and dizziness. Some practitioners were bedridden for
over a month, and could not take a single step without passing out. Once the
hospital police achieves their goal, the "610 Office" (2) abducts the
practitioners. The hospital extorts so-called medical expenses from
practitioners' families ranging from 3,000 to 7,000 Yuan, and can be as high as
10,000 Yuan. Practitioners who are brought to the prison hospital usually have already
endured torture at various detention centers. After enduring the treatments at
the hospital, they are extremely fragile and have often sustained further
injuries to their limbs. They are then taken elsewhere for further persecution. In the first half of 2003 a female Dafa practitioner was brought to Bengbu
Prison Hospital. Doctor Wang (prison doctor, around 40 years old) had several
inmates forcibly hold her down on a bed, and he injected her with some unknown
drug. They then left her locked in the room. Several hours later, this
practitioner started to tremble all over, her hands and feet became numb, and
she felt as if air was drained from her heart. So she screamed for help. When
the doctor arrived and examined her, he found her blood pressure had reached 240
mmHg. In an attempt to evade responsibility, the hospital notified the detention
center on the same day, asking to have this practitioner taken back. She
nonetheless had to pay a 186 Yuan hospital fee. In the second half of 2003, another detention center sent a practitioner to
the prison hospital. This practitioner was subjected to the "special treatment."
The secretary of the City Political and Judiciary Committee personally visited
the hospital to oversee the torture. Hospital Director Chen announced to the
practitioner, "The Secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee is here,
and we will put you through Proletarian Dictatorship (3)!" With one order from
Chen, about six inmates jumped on this practitioner and wrestled him to the bed.
His hands were cuffed to the iron frame next to the bed, and his feet were bound
to the bed frame. One policeman gave him an injection, which caused him to pass
out. This was followed by an intravenous injection of an unknown substance,
which resulted in internal bleeding. Blood stained the practitioner's pants and
his blood pressure dropped to 40 mmHg. His heart began to fail, and he was in
critical condition and became comatose twice. After emergency rescue procedures,
he began breathing again. The rescue effort was under the supervision of medical
experts to whom the villains paid a high fee. The order was, "Destroy the body!
It is inconsequential how serious the injury you inflict on the practitioner, as
long as the person is still alive. It is perfectly OK if there is only one
breath left." This practitioner was comatose for over twenty hours. By the time
he came around, he could not open his eyes. The back of his hands and his arms
were swollen and purple. He urinated blood and coughed up blood. He had to
inhale oxygen through a mask to sustain his life. Even in such condition, this
practitioner was still handcuffed to the bed and injected with an unknown
substance for another week. His body was almost completely destroyed by then. During the same period of time, three Dafa practitioners in another room were
subjected to the same treatment. Dafa practitioners are confined in different rooms with the doors locked from
the outside. There is only a small opening in the doors, which is used to check
the intravenous injection. Outside, inmates guard the doors around the clock.
The practitioners are forced to pay a 48 Yuan "management" fee plus an average
of 150 Yuan for hospitalization per day. Every practitioner had to pay 3,000 to
7,000 Yuan upon leaving the hospital, even though their bodies were seriously
injured or even disabled. (1) Yuan is the Chinese currency. 500 Yuan is the average monthly income
for an urban worker in China. (2) "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun
Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all
other political and judiciary systems. (3) Proletarian Dictatorship - A phrase commonly used by the Chinese
dictatorship to persecute people who hold a different political point of view or
different ideology. Posting date: 6/30/2004 |
