(Clearwisdom.net) Zhang Yuzhen, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, experienced many forms of persecution because she remained steadfast in her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." On the evening of February 17, 2004, the policemen from the Qiaoxi Police Station in Zhangjiakou City, along with the Dajingmen Police Station, arrested Ms. Zhang Yuzhen. The Qiaoxi Political and Judiciary Committee sent her to a brainwashing center. On May 4, 2004, Zhang Yuzhen died in a small clinic in the Huaxiangzhi area. Those responsible for her murder include Judicial and Political Committee secretary Han Sheng of Qiaoxi Section, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province; Qiaoxi section police branch station superintendent Niu Yongzheng; Qiaoxi section Dajingmen police station superintendent Cao Shihong; a person with the surname of Zhou from the Zhangjiakou City Brainwashing Center.

Ms. Zhang Yuzhen, a 48-year-old former employee of the Zhangjiakou Latex Factory, resided at the Organic Coal Factory Dormitory in Qiaoxi section in Beixin Village. She had suffered from advanced lymphatic cancer in 1998 as was diagnosed by specialists at Zhangjiakou City's Number 251 Hospital and Beijing's Number 301 Hospital. She had difficulty swallowing food, she was extremely weak and her life was in danger. Later someone taught her how to practice Falun Dafa and from that point on she began living her life according to the universal principle of, "Truth, Compassion and Forbearance." She recovered from her cancer, regained her health both physically and mentally and was able to return to work. Zhang Yuzhen was so grateful to Falun Gong, which had given her a second chance in life. In her workplace, all her actions were based on the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance," and she happily undertook the difficult tasks without complaint. Her supervisor said, "If everyone were like Zhang Yuzhen, the factory would be doing well."

After July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin began the nationwide persecution against Falun Gong. In order to tell the government the facts about Falun Gong, Zhang Yuzhen brought her medical records to Beijing to show to the National Appeal Office. Using her own positive experiences as an example, she wanted to show that Falun Dafa was good, and ask for justice for Dafa and Teacher. However, upon arriving, she discovered that the appeal office had turned into a detention center, and she was illegally arrested and taken to a local detention center. After she was released, the Beixin Village Police Station and local office of Qiaoxi section began to regularly look her up at work and come into her home to threaten and harass her. The authorities took her to the local police station and forced her to attend brainwashing sessions on numerous occasions.

Zhang Yuzhen was among the practitioners in her area who printed and distributed materials exposing the persecution, explaining the facts about Falun Dafa and revealing the crimes being committed. These practitioners explained the true situation to a variety of different people and segments of the community.

On May 9, 2002, the Number 3 Criminal Unit of the Qiaodong Police Station Branch Office, Zhangjiakou City had illegally detained Zhang Yuzhen and a few Dafa practitioners at the truth-clarification material production site and held them in the detention center. After 20 days on a hunger strike, Zhang Yuzhen was bailed out for medical treatment. Since then, Zhang Yuzhen was unable to live at home in order to avoid further persecution by the authorities. She sold off her belongings and her only piece of jewelry to get money to establish a new truth-clarification material production site, because she wanted to let more people learn about the beauty of Falun Dafa, the brutality of the persecution, and the nature of the lies spread by Jiang's regime.

On the evening of February 17, 2004, Qiaoxi Police Branch Office, Zhangjiakou City and Qiaoxi Dajingmen Police Station discovered and destroyed the new materials production site, and Zhang Yuzhen and a few other practitioners were arrested and sent to the Shisanli Detention Center. Zhang Yuzhen began another hunger strike, but this time she was extremely weak. The detention center refused to keep her due to her poor condition, but the Qiaoxi Judicial and Political Committee and Qiaoxi police branch station refused to release her. They transferred her to the "Zhanjiakou Law School," which was actually a brainwashing center where they did not have to follow the regulations regarding detainees physical condition. In the brainwashing center they detained her and subjected her to further torture.

On May 4, 2004, Qiaoxi Dajingmen Police Station informed Zhan Yuzhen's family of her death. Zhang Yuzhen had died in a small clinic in Qiaoxi's Huaxiangzi area. After only a few months in detention, a once healthy person was persecuted to death. The Qiaoxi Judicial and Political Committee, Qiaoxi Police Branch Office, and the Qiaoxi Dajingmen Police Station have no regard for human life. They did not send Zhang Yuzhen to the hospital when her condition was dire, nor did they notify her family of her condition until it was too late. They could not give any explanation to her family after her death.

Zhang Yuzheng did not die from lymphatic cancer, but instead her death was the direct result of the abuses of the law enforcement personnel of the Qiaoxi Judicial and Political Committee, Qiaoxi Police Branch Office, Qiaoxi Dajingmen Police Station and the City Law School. She is the fifth Falun Dafa practitioner to die from various forms of persecution in Qiaoxi, and follows the deaths of Wang Ailing, Zhang Zhigen, Fan Yaxiong, and Song Cuiling.
