On May 20, 2004, Mr. Wang Jinzhong, a 49-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner, was arrested at his workplace by officers from the Xingshun Police Station, a subordinate of the Tiexi Branch Police Department in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Mr. Wang was sent to Tiexi Detention Center, where he was tortured to death in just 20 days. Wang's wife had just had an operation on her stomach two weeks prior. Their child is scheduled to take the college enrollment exam this summer. Mr. Wang was once sentenced to one year of forced labor and detained in Zhangshi Labor Camp in Shenyang City.

On June 21, 2004, it was visitation day at the Tiexi Detention Center. A male Dafa practitioner told his family who came to visit him that a person was beaten to death, but he did not know the details. When a friend of Wang Jinzhong asked at the front desk about Wang Jinzhong's situation, the policeman on duty first said Wang was still detained inside, and then said Wang was released already. As a matter of fact, Wang had already been tortured to death many days earlier.

It has yet to be discovered who is (are) responsible for Wang Jinzhong's death.
