Falun Dafa Practitioners Cruelly Tortured at Taihang Prison in Baoding City, Mancheng County, Hebei Province

Headed by prison director Zhao Jingzhou, Taihang Prison has been doing its utmost to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. It has played a huge role in persecuting Falun Dafa in Baoding City, and in the entire Hebei Province.

Taihang Prison has two divisions, one for men, the other for women. Many Dafa practitioners from various places are detained there and forced to do hard labor for long periods of time. The prison mainly produces canvas and sacks. The prison has employed all kinds of torture methods to force practitioners to renounce Falun Dafa. Policewomen Zhu Xiaohong and Lu Yuhuan frequently torture steadfast Falun Dafa practitioners and attempt to forcibly brainwash them.

Taihang Prison has a room with torture instruments where Falun Dafa practitioners are subjected to brutal torture. The prison guards not only persecute Falun Dafa practitioners who were sentenced to time in the prison, but also employ brutal tortures on practitioners who were abducted and are being held in the prison, but who have not yet been sentenced, in order to coerce them into supplying information. Zhao Yuxia from Mancheng County and prison guards have colluded to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners.

On September 14, 2002, several people from the Police Bureau of Mancheng County arrested Ms. Liu Qiaozhen and Wang Xiaofeng, two practitioners who had become homeless in order to avoid police harassment and arrest. They took the practitioners to Taihang Prison where they were tortured.

Because Ms. Liu Qiaozhen refused to succumb to the wicked people, the police handcuffed her to the back of a chair. She was forced to sit on the ground with her legs stretched straight out. Two people forced a thick stick between her shackled hands until it was wedged in so tightly that they could not longer pull the stick. Another officer violently stomped on her legs and whipped her feet with a stick. They tried to force her to give information about her fellow practitioners. However, her righteous thoughts were very strong. In her mind, she only recited Teacher's Fa (1) with righteous thoughts. The police forced a burning cigarette up her nose, burned her neck with another lit cigarette, put drugs used for psychiatric patients into her nostrils, and shocked her mouth with electric batons. She was tortured like this for an entire day. However, all these cruel tortures failed to shake Liu Qiaozhen's resolve.

In 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhao Lingru was also abducted and taken to Taihang Prison where she was brutally tortured. Several young police officers tortured her and asked her about the sources for Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials. Ms. Zhao Lingru did not cooperate with them and resisted their evil tactics with righteous thoughts. The police deprived her of sleep for a long time and she went on a hunger strike in protest of the mistreatment. Several strong policemen maliciously force-fed her. They used metal tools to pry her mouth open. An eyewitness said, "She nearly died in there!" Later, Ms. Zhao was unjustly detained in Mancheng County Detention Center for a long period of time. Afterward, she was transferred to Baoding City Detention Center. The Southern District Court of Baoding City sentenced her to a seven-year prison term. She has already been detained for nearly two years. In the prison, Ms. Zhao has been on a hunger strike for over 20 days in protest of the unlawful persecution.

In 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Yumei was arrested and sent to the torture room in Taihang Prison, where she was subjected to inhuman torture.
