Information about the Death of Dafa Practitioner Ms. Peng Chunrong from Chongqing City

Ms. Peng Chunrong was a Dafa practitioner living in Baofeng Village, Taiping Township, Duzhou Town, Changshou District, Chongqing City. On February 19, 2004, she was abducted by plainclothes police while clarifying the truth in Duzhou Town. The police first took her to the Duzhou Town Police Station and then sent Peng to the district brainwashing class, where she was subjected to inhuman torture. As a result, Peng was in critical condition. Not wanting to take the responsibility, the district brainwashing class transferred her back to the town government. The Duzhou Town government took this opportunity to intimidate and extort money from Peng's husband, saying that Peng would be released if he turned in several thousand Yuan. Meanwhile, Ms. Peng was sent to the town brainwashing class where she was detained for 3 months.

In the town brainwashing class, the deputy town head Cheng Yi had asked people to treat Peng with numerous beatings and tried to extort money from Peng's family. Peng has a 8-year old daughter, a disabled brother-in-law and her family lives a very poor life and didn't have any money. Seeing no hope to extort money, the evildoers treated Peng with more severe torture. On April 11, 2004, between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., the police tortured Peng to death in a courtroom close to the town police station. At 7:00 a.m., the police called 120 emergency services, pretending to offer emergency rescue.

After Peng's death was disclosed, the people in the neighboring areas condemned the Duzhou Town government for killing an innocent woman.

Later, when an autopsy was performed on Peng, her family members were not allowed to be present. Her family requested to examine her body themselves, but was denied this request by officials Cheng Yi, Huang Zhengqiao and Tang Xianming. Soon afterward, they cremated Peng's body despite strong opposition from her family.

Ms. Peng was born on Feburary 22, 1970. Before she died, Ms. Peng lived in Laojunwan of No. 9 Group in Sanping Town Baofeng Village, Changshou County, Chongqing City (now becomes Laojunwan of No. 9 Group in Duzhou Town of Baofeng Village, Changshou District of Chongqing City). Peng was a very kindhearted woman and she often helped fellow villagers with household chores. People in the neighboring area knew her as a good person. Learning of her death, they were all shocked. They went to the town government to protest the mistreatment of her for 3 days. Under pressure, the town government agreed to compensate Peng's family 6,000 yuan, and reduce her 8-year-old child's school tuition by half. Peng's brother-in-law is a disabled person and he was also given partial benefits.
