Canada: Calgary Citizens Shocked at the Tortures (Photos)
By practitioners from Calgary
(Clearwisdom.net) On the noon of July 9, 2004, just after participating in
the Calgary Stampede Parade, Falun Gong practitioners conducted an anti-torture
exhibit in front of the Max Bell Theater in downtown Calgary to expose the
persecution encountered by Falun Gong practitioners in China for not giving up
their belief. People stop to look at the exhibition Calgary's mainstream media outlets including A-Channel TV and newspaper FFWD
came to cover the event. A-Channel conducted the interviews for almost one
hour. They had a special interview with Ms. Wang Yuzhi whose plight was
illustrated on the posters. Ms. Wang introduced that because she persisted in
her belief, she had been arrested and imprisoned three times in China, where
she suffered various tortures including violent force-feeding. She was tortured
to the verge of death and she almost lost her eyesight. Overseas Falun Gong
practitioners and Canadian government's great support and effort rescued her.
A photographer from FFWD newspaper came and took a few photos of the torture
re-enactments. A reporter followed up with an interview later. Practitioners
said that the exhibit showed what is happening in China. Only a few of the over
100 known types of torture could be shown. 1001 practitioners are verified to
have died from the persecution. More than 100,000 practitioners are unlawfully
detained or sentenced to force labor or jail. The torture exhibition shocked spectators and passers-by. Some people shook
their heads and felt that it was inconceivable that this was happening in China
today.
