Practitioners in New York informed diplomatic envoys and government officials of different countries in the UN of the details of the incident. They used fax, telephone, personal visits and other means to help the UN and its member states gain a deeper understanding of Jiang's group's extension of the persecution of Falun Gong outside China, and to see clearly that the shooting incident targeting Falun Gong practitioners in South Africa was absolutely not accidental, but a signal of Jiang's group's escalation of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners overseas. The practitioners also called upon all governments to join them to condemn Jiang's state-sponsored terrorism.

Anti-torture exhibit in New York held in front of the UN Building several weeks ago

Last week, practitioners visited the office of a UN diplomatic envoy of an African state, they first explained to the receptionist about Falun Gong and the facts of Jiang's group's persecution of Falun Gong. The receptionist listened attentively and shook her head after seeing the photo of the practitioner's both injured feet incurred from gunshots in South Africa. The practitioners discussed with her about how to pass the materials to the UN diplomatic envoy of their respective countries. An official walked out from inside of the office and asked what the matter was, the receptionist explained to him with several words and he immediately waved to the practitioners and said, "come on in." the receptionist said in a smile, he is the person you are looking for."

Entering the office, the practitioners introduced Falun Gong and its spread around the world, as well as the brutal persecution in the past five years. This is an African country that has a good diplomatic relations with China. They emphasized that Falun Gong practitioners opposed Jiang because he deprives practitioners of their basic rights and because of the brutal persecution he directed against Falun Gong practitioners. The official said straightforwardly, "I know Falun Gong, and we support you. It is really absurd to suppress such a practice that benefits everyone both physically and mentally. What can I do for you?"

The practitioners continued introducing the shooting incident in South Africa and Jiang's group's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners overseas. The official immediately said, "If Falun Gong practitioners come to my country, we will definitely not allow such a thing to occur there."

The official told the practitioners to include the name of leaders in their country in the statement the practitioners delivered, and then he said, "I will fax your letter and statement to our government, and also let them know this thing. I believe that the international community will condemn this violent incident."

Arriving in another place where a different country's delegation stays, we happened to meet several ambassadors and members from several African UN delegations who were having a meeting. The practitioners waited outside the conference room. After they came out, the practitioners passed Falun Gong materials to the ambassadors and took the opportunity to clarify the truth to them and various members of delegations of different countries. We learned that many diplomats have learned about Falun Gong, and many of them had seen the live anti-torture exhibit practitioners held outside the UN three weeks ago. They expressed that the exhibit had made a deep impression on them. Some officials asked what they could do for us.

Two staff members heard that Falun Gong practitioners had came and ran towards practitioners and said they were shocked at seeing our torture exhibit several days ago. "We have taken some CDs, but not exercise instructions CDs. Where can we get exercise instruction videos?"

A young man was happy to help after learning about the urgency of shooting incident in South Africa. He ran back to his office, and came out with two copies of address books of the UN for the practitioners, asking the practitioners to contact more delegations by fax and telephone.

The practitioners felt that more and more people have become aware. More diplomats have learned the goodness of Falun Gong, and understood that Jiang's group utilizes the state machinery to brutally torture and brainwash people, and that the persecution absolutely violates the human rights.
