Dafa Practitioner Bai Shaohua Persecuted Severely in Tuanhe Labor Camp, Beijing
(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioners, Mr. Bai Shaohua and Mr. Li
Hailin, helped inspire and encourage many of the practitioners that had,
against their will, given in to the police's demands and signed statements
renouncing Falun Dafa during their detention. For this reason, Tuanhe Labor
Camp in Beijing treated Bai Shaohua and Li Hailin as key subjects for
persecution and put them into the so-called "intensive training team." Bai
Shaohua is now on a hunger strike to protest his illegal detention. The prison
guards openly declared, "If Bai Shaohua is not brainwashed, he won't be allowed
to leave the intensive training team." Bai Shaohua's brother, Bai Xiaojun, has
already been killed by the persecution.
Bai Shaohua is 32 years old and is from Hua'nan County, Heilongjiang
Province. Mr. Bai graduated from Renmin University and worked in Beijing
Xin'aote Group, Ltd. after graduation. Because of his encouragement and
inspired by his behavior, the manager and the employees in the department where
he worked all began practicing Falun Dafa. Soon afterwards, in 1998, their
department earned over 2 million Yuan (1) in profits, and the supervisor of the
company said that when their company recruited in the future, preference would
be given to Falun Dafa practitioners. This was a well-known story.
After the brutal persecution of Falun Dafa began on July 20, 1999, Bai
Shaohua exposed the instigators behind the persecution and clarified the truth
about Falun Dafa to the government. It was then that he was listed as an
important target of persecution by the local police. He was arrested and sent
back to Hua'nan County for detention. The previous head of the "610 Office,"
(2) Li Lanqing, directly gave the order to "severely punish" Mr. Bai. Under the
persecution, Bai Shaohua was eventually forced to leave his home and go from
place to place to avoid detention. The police posted a reward for his capture
and issued a warrant for arrest. He was finally arrested again in Beijing on
April 10, 2002. Then he was sent to the notorious Beijing "Legal System
Training Center," (a brainwashing center) where he was bombarded with
propaganda slandering Falun Gong. To protest his arrest, Bai Shaohua went on a
hunger strike for over 100 days straight. The police could not find any
evidence to detain him, and in the end, they bypassed the courts and illegally
sentenced him to two years in a forced-labor camp (October 14, 2002 to October
15, 2004). In December 2002, Mr. Bai was transferred to the No. 2 Team in
Beijing's Tuanhe Labor Camp, where the authorities continued to use all kinds
of cruel methods to try to brainwash him into renouncing his belief.
Because Bai Shaohua refused to give in to their unconscionable requests, and
because on several occasions he was able to stop prison guards from physically
harming other practitioners or depriving them of sleep, the labor camp listed
him as an "important figure" to "work on." He was separated from the rest of
the "specially managed team" and put in the No. 7 Team to be intensively
persecuted. He was tied to a bed, deprived of food and water, and he wasn't
permitted to use the toilet.
In December 2003, Mr. Bai was transferred to the No. 3 Team. Due to his
righteous thoughts and righteous actions, many practitioners who had previously
been "brainwashed" under the intense pressure and against their will, began to
see their own shortcomings. With Mr. Bai's support and encouragement, they
started to come to their senses, and the whole team showed an overall state of
waking up and of returning to Dafa. Afterwards, the prison guards detained Bai
Shaohua and another Dafa practitioner, Mr. Li Hailin, separately in the
"intensive training team" to persecute them more severely. The guards in the
"intensive training team" shocked Dafa practitioner Mr. Peng Guangjun with
electric batons and beat him so fiercely that he was tortured to death in the
five days from Chinese New Year to January 5th of the lunar
calendar.
Now, the guards have publicly declared, "If Bai Shaohua is not brainwashed,
he won't be allowed to leave the 'intensive training team.'" They also won't
allow anyone to visit him. Mr. Bai's wife took their 4-year-old daughter to
visit him, but the labor camp refused them without giving any reason.
Bai Shaohua's brother, Mr. Bai Xiaojun, was a philosophy lecturer in
Northeast Normal University and the editor of the university newspaper. Bai
Xiaojun was arrested on July 21, 2000 and sentenced to one year of forced
labor. Because he insisted on not renouncing his belief, his sentence was then
changed to five years in prison. In July 2003, the prison officials informed
his mother to come see him. At that time, Bai Xiaojun had become emaciated and
his body was covered with injuries. When his mother arrived, he could not even
speak, and he passed away three hours later. The labor camp even insisted that
his family pay the bill for cremating his body. The acts of those scoundrels
angered the students and teachers in Bai Xiaojun's university. They voluntarily
organized a memorial service for their beloved Teacher Bai and sent wreathes
for him. However, this led to another round of harassment and illegal
persecution by the police.
Bai Shaohua's mother is a retired music teacher and she was arrested many
times for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people. Because of the
stress and maltreatment in detention, she even lost her eyesight for a period
of time. Bai Shaohua's father was a member of the Chinese Calligraphy
Association. Bai Shaohua's wife was arrested many times, including during her
pregnancy, due to her "connections" with Mr. Bai, and later she was taken back
to her hometown in Xinjiang Province.
Mr. Bai Shaohua's whole family had attended Master Li Hongzhi's lecture in
Harbin in 1994, and they have persisted in practicing Falun Dafa for many
years. Now, Bai Shaohua's brother has been tortured to death, his father has
passed away, and his mother was forced to move from place to place and to other
cities to avoid arrest. His wife has a difficult life caring for their
4-year-old daughter alone. Once during a class reunion at his university, Bai
Shaohua had described to his classmates the persecution against his family, and
his classmates were shocked. Bai Shaohua's classmates in Beijing, Hong Kong,
and other places worked together to try to discover his whereabouts for many
months, but they could not find him.
