By a Dafa practitioner from China

(Clearwisdom.net) I used to be a practitioner with a pretty strong attachment to lust. As a result, I have experienced many tribulations in this regard. The following are some of my experiences. Hopefully, sharing these experiences can help some fellow practitioners with similar problems.

1. "..."I'm not an ordinary person. I'm a practitioner. You shouldn't treat me this way, for I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner."" (Zhuan Falun) The above words are from Teacher's book and are a part of Dafa, containing the boundless power of Dafa.

Many times when I have encountered the demon of lust in my dreams or in meditation, I have not passed the test because of an error in my thoughts. A lot of times, my main consciousness would battle hard with the demon of lust, which would try its best to drag me into watching and thinking about lustful things. I have suffered much many times due to this, but I still could not pass the tribulation. Teacher said, "As long as you regard yourself as a practitioner, you will remember it right away and be able to restrain yourself, and you will then be able to pass this test." (Zhuan Falun) Later on, when I encountered similar tests, I recited the words in my mind again and again, "..."I'm not an ordinary person. I'm a practitioner. You shouldn't treat me this way, for I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner."" The demons of lust would then become weaker, until finally they could not affect me anymore.

2. I would think, "Since I am cultivating among ordinary people, I have to conform to ordinary people", but this was interference from the demons. In real life, when I encountered the test of lust, I failed in several cases. Afterwards, I noticed that there was also very strong demonic interference going on at the time. Later on I realized that Teacher asks us to conform to everyday people as much as possible while cultivating, but not to conform to everyday people [in and of itself]. Being clear that the above thought was coming from the interference of demons, I raised my understanding of Dafa in this aspect. When those kinds of thoughts came to interfere with me again, I said to myself, "I am a cultivator, not an everyday person." Gradually, there became less and less interference of this kind.

3. Teacher clearly recognizes the "demon of lust." Teacher has talked about the seriousness of the "demon of lust" in Zhuan Falun. In fact, many people have little understanding on this issue. Many modern everyday people think that lust is good, and that it is a' normal need for people. As a result, the whole society is in such a state, which creates a lot of interference for cultivators.

Many media outlets propagate the issue of sex and lust a lot. I think as practitioners, we should not read or watch these things. Teacher said, "A person is like a container, and he is whatever he contains." ("Melt Into the Fa", Essentials for Further Advancement) I have found that the demon of lust can greatly harm people, making people's demonic nature much stronger in a short period of time. As a result, many everyday people who have a strong attachment to lust also have a strong demonic nature.

The ancient Chinese said, "Lust is the worst of all evil." As cultivators, we should clearly recognize the harm caused by the demon of lust toward one's good side. Clearly recognize the demon and attachment of lust and get rid of it.
