Taiwan: Photo Report: Practitioners Hold "July 20" Anti-Persecution Activities (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of July 17, 2004, several thousand
Falun Gong practitioners gathered on the Chanyang Avenue in front of the Chiang
Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and held "July 20" anti-persecution activities
to call upon people from all walks of life to pay attention to the 5-five-year
ruthless persecution suffered by Falun Gong practitioners in China. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., wearing yellow T-shirts and light-colored pants, Falun
Gong practitioners formed Chinese characters: Fa rectifies heaven and earth.
They also demonstrated the exercises. The scene was magnificent and peaceful. In order to raise public awareness about how the Chinese police, labor camps,
fascist brainwashing centers and jails torture Falun Gong practitioners, poster
and photo exhibitions were held together with a live reenactment of some torture
methods used against practitioners.
The methods of torture exhibited were appalling. Some spectators
frequently wiped their tears. A westerner said that the China's human rights situation has been
constantly deteriorating in recent years. Especially since the Tiananmen
Square massacre in 1989, one can hardly hear anything from the government
about human rights. They must have blocked the information. A Japanese girl said that China should release the ban on Falun Gong.
She believed that it is very important to allow people to have the rights
and freedom to express and exercise their belief. After watching the anti-torture exhibition, an elderly couple
expressed: The persecution of Falun Gong is so inhumane! So brutal! On both sides of Chanyang Avenue, the long lines of petition cloths
were extremely eye-catching. The cloths were full of petition signatures
which expressed countless Taiwanese people's condemnation against the
shooting incident in South Africa, which Jiang's group is suspected to
behind the attempted assassination. Since Jiang initiated the brutal persecution on July 20, 1999, at least
1,006 Falun Gong practitioners are verified to have died from the
persecution. On this special day, Taiwan Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight
vigil to commemorate these fellow practitioners who sacrificed their lives
to uphold the truth. In addition, practitioners hoped to awaken people's
sense of justice and conscience and call upon people to work together to
stop this persecution. Chinese version available at http://minghui.ca/mh/articles/2004/7/19/79793.html |
