China Times reporter Lin Xingfei [phonetic] reported on July 18 in Taipei: The Falun Dafa Association yesterday held event to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the persecution of Falun Gong in China. The association used real-life models to recreate 11 horrific torture methods used in Mainland China to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong practitioners also stated that more than 1,000 practitioners have been tortured to death. Human rights groups slammed the Chinese government's persecution as grave disgrace of human rights and called all civilians to condemn the persecution.

China banned Falun Gong on July 20 of 1999 and mobilized all state resources to crack down on it. Taiwan Falun Dafa Association held events every year to commemorate the practitioners who have been persecuted to death. Yesterday, it was their first time to use real-life models to recreate 11 horrifying torture methods used during the persecution. Meanwhile, the association announced the creation of "Taiwan Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners Association" to launch rescue efforts.

The anti-torture exhibition demonstrated 11 torture methods including slave labor, hanging and beating, injecting with unknown drugs, tying up, burning, tiger bench, etc. Practitioners also displayed photos of practitioners who were victims of those torture methods.

Burning is to use heated iron to burn skin and flesh. Employee of Shenyang Lu Xun Institute of Art, Gao Rongrong who is 36, was sent to a labor camp in May. Police burned her face with electric batons for near 7 hours. She was left with burned injures all over the face.

"Injecting with unknown drugs" is another persecution method while claiming to treat practitioners' mental problems. According documents of the Falun Dafa Association, more than 1,000 practitioners were labeled as mental disorder and were sent to mental hospitals and were injected with unknown drugs that damage people's neural system.

Citing a Chinese communist party internal source, secretary of "Taiwan Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners Association" Liu Binghua [phonetic] said, by the end of October 2001, more than 1,600 Falun Gong practitioners had been persecuted to death, more than 6,000 were illegally sentenced to prison terms, more than 100,000 were illegally sent to labor camps.

Mr. Liu said the victims of the persecution also include Taiwan Falun Gong practitioners. Many Taiwan practitioners who went to Mainland China on business, to visit relatives or for sightseeing were illegally detained. For example, Lin Hsiao-kai was illegally detained for 21 days when he went back China last year; about 200 Taiwan practitioners with valid travel documents were deported forcefully by Hong Kong when they went to Hong Kong to participate various Falun Gong occasions; 4 Mainland brides who married Taiwanese and then learned Falun Gong in Taiwan have disappeared after they went back to Mainland to visit relatives.
