Central News Agency reported on July 17: This coming July 20 marks the 5th anniversary of the crackdown of Falun Gong practitioners, which was ordered by former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. The Taiwan Falun Dafa Association held "Respect life and Commemorate 7-20" event at the plaza of the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. Meanwhile, the association also announced the creation of "Taiwan Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners Association." Taipei University professor Ming Juzhen [phonetic] will chair this association, which is created to rescue Falun Gong practitioners and launch legal actions against perpetrators of the persecution.

The event was hosted by Taiwan Falun Dafa Association chairman and Taipei University Economy professor Chang Ching-hsi. Su You-chen, deputy director of Presidential Human Rights Consultation Committee, Mr. Wu Hao-ren, President of the Taiwan Human Rights Advocate Association, Professor Wu Hui-lin, board member of the China Human Rights Association, attorney Chu Wan-chi, representative of legal team of Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice, Liu Binghua, secretary of Taiwan Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners Association and several thousands Falun Gong practitioners participated in the event.

Chang Ching-hsi said that Jiang announced on July 20 of 1999 that China would use state resources to crackdown on Falun Gong. In the past 5 years, millions of kind-hearted Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted; confirmed death toll of Falun Gong practitioners has mounted up to 1,006. Facing such an evil regime, everyone should speak out for justice and jointly eliminate such atrocity.

As for legal cases against Jiang Zemin, Chu Wan-chi said that practitioners had filed lawsuits in 7 countries and 13 other high ranking CP officials including former vice-prime minister Li Lanqing, Politburo Standing Committee Member of the CCP Central Committee Luo Gan, Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai and Minister of Culture Sun Jiazheng had been sued in 11 countries for persecuting Falun Gong. At the same time, Falun Gong practitioners have sued local Chinese consulates in 5 countries and filed complaints against Chinese vice-president Zeng Qinghong to UN Human Rights Commission and UN Anti-Torture Commission.

During today's event, practitioners also staged a photo exhibition to provide evidence that Falun Gong has had no political pursuit in the past 5 years and explained the fact that Falun Gong practitioners only want to cultivate "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance" and achieve freedom of mind and body by cultivation and will only benefit individuals, society and nations.

Moreover, Falun Gong practitioners also staged an anti-torture exhibition, in which they used real-life models to recreate 11 horrifying torture methods used by mainland authority including digging bamboo sticks under the fingernails, the "tiger bench," hanging up and beating, injecting unknown drugs, tightly tying and pressing and hand-cuffing for prolonged time.
