(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Chen Fukui and I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I am 66 years old and am the former chief of the Research Institute of Ningan Paper Mill in Heilongjiang Province. I was fortunate to begin practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. I used to smoke and drink. Seventeen days after I learned Dafa, I quit smoking and my overall situation became much better. After I obtained the Fa (1), I conducted a survey of over 307 practitioners about their health condition before and after starting the practice. The facts showed that people's physical and mental health had greatly improved since starting to practice Falun Gong. So I sent the survey results to Qiao Shi, who was the chief of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress, in order for the leaders of the country to learn about the true situation of Falun Gong, and to let them know what a magnificent benefit it is to society to have so many citizens who are in good physical and mental health. I showed that Falun Gong helps improve the health, spirit and morality of the entire nation.
After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, in October 2000, I went to the administration office of the provincial government to appeal for Falun Gong. However, the response I got was, "No questions will be answered, no appeal will be handled, no reason will be given." I was very surprised. The appeal office was for people to appeal, and they refused to see people who came to appeal, refused to answer questions, and neither would they give a reason for it. It was hard for me to understand. So I handed them a paper describing my cultivation experiences with Falun Dafa, and asked them to forward it to Xu Youfang, the party secretary of Heilongjiang Province at that time, in the hope that my opinion would be expressed during the People's Congress of March 2001. But I received no reply.
On December 28, 2000, I went to the party committee of the provincial government again to appeal, along with three other elderly practitioners who were 78, 73 and 68 years old respectively. When our appeal was refused, I unfurled a banner with the words, "Falun Dafa is good! Restore the reputation of my Teacher!" in a place where the traffic was not affected. Such an action was simply to express the reason for my appeal and to indicate my personal understanding of Falun Dafa; it did not have any intention of being against the government.
On February 3, 2001 while I was at my relative's home, personnel from the Minshenglu Police Station of the Dongli Police Department arrested me for no reason and took me to the detention center of the Dongli Police Department. On November 19, 2001, they sentenced me to four years of imprisonment.
This is very unjust. I did not commit any crime. At work, I have been careful and conscientious at my job, and I have not done anything against the law. After I began to practice Dafa, I disciplined myself strictly, conducted myself well and have gotten rid of my bad habits. I feel no regret in my heart, no regret towards Dafa, and no regret being called a Dafa practitioner.
