(Clearwisdom.net) On July 20, 2004, the fifth anniversary of the start of the Falun Gong persecution in China, Falun Gong practitioners in Calgary petitioned the Chinese Consulate for a stop to the persecution, called for international support and condemned the overseas extension of Jiang's state terrorism.

Falun Gong practitioners hold a candlelight vigil in front of the Chinese Consulate

On July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime launched a national persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, who follow the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." To justify its persecution, Jiang's regime utilized all possible state mechanisms to create scandals in order to frame Falun Gong and its practitioners. Overnight, dozens of millions of Falun Gong practitioners were deprived of their freedom of belief and other basic human rights. Despite the unprecedented brutal persecution, Falun Gong practitioners have been following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. They clarify the truth of Falun Gong to the people in a peaceful and rational way.

Lies fabricated by Jiang's regime, including the notorious so-called "Self-immolation on Tiananmen Square," have been exposed one after another. It has become harder and harder to continue the persecution. Jiang's regime has become insane and has even hired gunmen to shoot Falun Gong practitioners in South Africa. The incident has again revealed the cruel and evil nature of the regime to foreign governments and to the worlds' people.

When Falun Gong practitioners petitioned in front of the Chinese Consulate, two policemen were already there, to protect the peaceful practitioners. When practitioners started to leave, the policemen waved at them. Calgary residents honked their car horns to show their support for Falun Gong practitioners when they passed the Consulate. People received truth-clarification materials and said, "We know they (Jiang's regime) are lying. Good luck to you!"

Falun Gong practitioners went back to the Consulate in the evening for a candlelight vigil in memory of the one thousand and nine practitioners in China who have died from the persecution. They firmly believe that the whole truth will be revealed some day as a result of their persistent truth-clarification efforts and Master's compassionate care. That will be the day that Falun Dafa brings a bright future to all people in the world.
