People Shocked By Torture Demonstration

The two-hour-long anti-torture parade, organized by the Japanese Falun Gong Association, started at the park under Tokyo Tower at 1:30 p.m. on July 18, 2004, and ended at Kanda Children's Park.

On a huge float, Falun Gong practitioners demonstrated tortures used against practitioners in China, including hanging and beating, "tiger bench" and cage confinement. Two songs, "Coming for You," and "Please Sit Next to Me" were played as the parade proceeded. Through a loudspeaker, Falun Gong practitioners explained to the spectators that the torture reenactments they were seeing were actually happening in real life in China. Approximately two hundred Falun Gong practitioners from all over Japan participated in the parade. They held signs reading "Falun Dafa Is Great," "Persecution Won't Be Tolerated by Heavenly Law," "Strongly Condemn Overseas Extension of State Terrorism by the Chinese Dictator," "Global Trial of Jiang." They also held up signs with pictures of many of the torture victims. Practitioners also distributed flyers along their parade route.

The parade passed through busy districts filled with people and the Tokyo Train Station where passengers were waiting for their trains. Many people received flyers and read them carefully. They were shocked by the facts of the persecution. They shook their heads, signed, inquired for more information and took pictures of the parade. Some of them expressed their surprise and concern.

Jiang Will Be Brought to Justice

Yoko Kaneko had been held in a Chinese forced labor camp for one and a half years for distributing Falun Gong truth-clarification flyers in China. She was eventually rescued through the joint efforts of the Japanese government and many other concerned people. Yoko and her husband participated in the parade.

Yoko told the reporter that the persecution, developed out of Jiang's jealousy, had been going on for five years. The confirmed death toll of Falun Gong practitioners has reached one thousand and nine. The target of such brutality is a group of innocent Chinese citizens who only pursued good health and improved morality. Ms. Kaneko expressed her belief that the Chinese don't currently have human rights and freedom of belief in China. She herself is a witness of the persecution.

With a choked voice, Yoko told the reporter that she had been subjected to all kinds of tortures in the forced labor camp. She couldn't help crying when she saw the torture demonstration, even though it showed only a tiny part of the torture methods used in the persecution. Violation of human rights is a persecution of all human beings. Jiang will surely pay for his crimes and be brought to justice.

The Chinese Embassy in Japan Spreads Lies

Regarding the Chinese Embassy's charge that practitioners are paid to take part in truth clarification activities, the reporter interviewed Mr. Sato from Hokkaido. Mr. Sato said he paid for his own trip. He said the reason why he had spent money and time for this trip was because he wanted to tell people the true story of Falun Gong. He had started practicing Falun Gong five months before. It was the first time he had participated in such an activity. He was very moved to see many people get together to devote themselves to their cause.

Another practitioner, Ms. Lei Shuhong, thought the Chinese Embassy's lie was ridiculous. She pays for all her expenses at Falun Gong activities out of her own pocket. Regarding the Embassy's charge that Falun Gong's application for Non-profit status was politically motivated, Ms. Lei said it was because China's slanderous propaganda had influenced the world. Many Japanese have seen slandering reports of Falun Gong by the Chinese official Xinhua News Agency. Falun Gong wouldn't have applied for non-profit organization status had it not been for all the deceitful propaganda; because of the lies, they need to tell the Japanese people the true story of Falun Gong.
