Clarifying the Truth is the Key to Breaking through Family Obstacles

(Clearwisdom.net) My husband is a kindhearted person, a good husband, and a wonderful father. When I first started practicing Falun Gong, he was unable to understand why I enthusiastically participated in various activities to introduce Falun Dafa and explain the facts of the persecution to the public. I negated this interference with strong righteous thoughts and used these conflicts as opportunities to upgrade my xinxing (1). Through constantly clarifying the truth, my path of validating the Fa unfolded.

In 2002, I was fortunate to learn about and start practicing Falun Dafa. I immediately felt great improvements in my body and mind, and began to take part in more activities to clarify the truth and introduce Falun Dafa to the public. However, I recall that my husband tried to stop me from going to our group practice site by blocking the door. Consequently, he prevented me from studying the Falun Dafa teachings and clarifying the truth of the persecution to others. He became especially angry over my third trip to Hong Kong to explain the facts of the persecution to the public. Nevertheless, his attitude gradually changed through my persistent communication with him. This time, when I expressed my interest in attending the Washington D.C. Fa Conference this July, he gladly agreed to it.

Even now my husband sometimes still criticizes me a little concerning my decision to begin practicing Falun Dafa. In fact, looking back at my cultivation path, I relied mostly on clarifying the truth of the persecution using this as a master key, to negate the old forces' arrangements and impediments. Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference,"

"Wherever there's a problem, that is where you need to clarify the truth and save people. Don't take a detour when you run into difficulties. When you see something that does us harm, or when you see something blocking our validating the Fa, don't take a detour -- you should face it, and clarify the truth and save those beings. This is the compassion (cibei) of a Dafa disciple, and it's our saving lives. At the same time, when you're clarifying the truth you can resolve the problem of many people having been deceived, the misunderstandings, and the prejudice."

My husband did not understand why I mailed truth clarification materials to China, called the public security police, or used my computer to send truth clarification materials to people I met online. Therefore, he employed various means to interfere with my work. I then told him about the benefits I obtained through practicing Falun Gong, why people should cultivate themselves, and the relationship between virtue and karma. I also explained to him that people in Mainland China are calling good people who live according to the Falun Dafa principle of "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance" cold-blooded murderers because they have been deceived by the government propaganda and massive lies broadcast to the society. It is sad how they wrongly refer to Falun Dafa, a righteous and great universal principle that could truly save them using the slanderous words Jiang and his followers have spread widely to the public. I have obtained so much from Dafa, yet if I could not stand up to validate the Fa or clarify the truth, I would be violating my principles as a human being. I would become exactly the kind of person that Gods despise the most. Then I reminded him that repaying others for their kindness is certainly correct, and loyalty has been the trait most admired by people. Through our conversation, I gradually touched his heart and, most importantly, I eliminated the negative thoughts he held towards Dafa. I hope that this has laid a foundation for him to practice Dafa in the future.

Clarifying the truth is a master key, for it untangled the knots in my husband's heart. Of course, I guided our conversation with wisdom to aim at his attachments and explained things to him until he fully understood. The basis for clarifying the truth effectively is to steadfastly study the Fa. Teacher has constantly reminded us in his recent articles to study the Fa more and to do it well. Teacher has really gone to great lengths in guiding us to do better!

In the end, let us encourage each other with Teacher's words from Essentials for Further Advancement II,

"The Fa can break all attachments, the Fa can destroy all evil, the Fa can shatter all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts."
