Proclamation of Falun Gong Days, City of Norfolk, Virginia [July 8, 2004]
(Clearwisdom.net) On July 8, 2004, Mayor Paul D. Fraim
of the City of Norfolk, Virginia, proclaimed July 25-31, 2004 as Falun Gong Days
in the City of Norfolk and encouraged all citizens to become more knowledgeable
of Falun Gong and to participate in the activities scheduled during Falun Gong
Days. City of Norfolk Virginia Proclamation Whereas, Falun Gong began in China in 1992 as a
self-improvement practice that combines meditation and gentle exercises with the
guiding principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance and is deeply
rooted in the Chinese traditional culture; and Whereas, Falun Gong has attracted people from all around
the world and from all walks of lives, different ethnic backgrounds and ages,
and has been recognized with many awards from China, the U.S., Canada and other
countries for bringing people good health in both mind and body; and Whereas, since first coming to Virginia in 1996, Falun
Gong has benefited many Virginians both physically and mentally, and during the
past eight years Virginian practitioners have made a great contribution to their
local community by offering free workshops and seminars in public libraries,
bookstores, churches, schools and recreation centers; and Whereas, Falun Gong is designed to preserve precious
human traditions such as honesty, courtesy, loyalty and unselfishness. Now, Therefore, I, Paul D. Fraim, Mayor of the City of
Norfolk, do hereby proclaim July 25-31, 2004 as Falun Gong Days in the City of Norfolk and encourage all citizens to become
more knowledgeable of Falun Gong and to participate in activities scheduled
