(Clearwisdom.net) Editor's Note: This article discusses the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in the Shijiazhuang Area, Hebei province. We have included summaries, cases, analysis and contact information, including phone numbers.

Since the beginning of 2004, persecutors in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei province, have escalated their persecution of Dafa practitioners. The persecutors include the "610 Office" (1) of Shijiazhuang City and surrounding counties and towns, Political and Security Subsections, all police sub-departments within Shijiazhuang City and public security bureaus, procuratorial bureaus and people's courts of the nearby towns and counties. They trail practitioners, appoint people to keep practitioners' homes under surveillance and arrest them. Using the above methods, the perpetrators of the persecution have destroyed some [truth-clarifying] material production sites. According to the available information, more than 30 arrests occurred in the Shijiazhuang area. Those arrested included elderly people and very young girls. Those arrested were either tortured to death, disabled, viciously maligned and sentenced to jail and forced labor terms. Family members, by association, are also implicated. The persecution did great harm to Dafa practitioners and their family members. Over 60 Dafa practitioners were arrested, of which 2 were sentenced to jail terms, and several others were sent to forced labor camps.

I. Below are A Few Examples of the Persecution Cases:

Shijiazhuang Xinhua Public Security Sub-bureau arrested Dafa practitioner Yu Jingxia On January 19, 2004. Because she became critically ill during her detention, the Xinhua Sub-bureau released her, as they did not wish to be held responsible for her death. Ma Wensheng, an official in Shijiazhuang "610 Office," promised under false pretense that Yu Jingxia's freedom would no longer be curtailed. On the morning of April 29, 2004, the persecutors arrested Yu Jingxia from her grandfather's home, and detained her in Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center. Yu Jingxia's health was not yet fully restored, and she still had a fever on the day of her arrest. She went on a hunger strike to protest her detention.

Around February 28, 2004, Xinhua Public Security Sub-bureau destroyed two [truth-clarifying] materials production sites and arrested practitioners Guo Lijuan (who had become homeless, wandering from place to place) and Qie Lili, an exceptional young female teacher. The two practitioners went on a month long hunger strike to protest their being sentenced to 3 years of forced labor. Both of them failed the medical exam at the forced labor camp, therefore the forced labor camp refused to take them and sent them back to Weiming Police Station. Given their medical condition, the practitioners should have been released. Yet, ignoring that both practitioners were in critical condition, Weiming Police Station deceived Qie's family members, obtained their signatures [of agreement], and then sent the two practitioners back to the forced labor camp for the 3-year term.

On April 13, 2004, Yang Yuliang and his associates in Hedong Police Station of Shijiazhuang City abducted 6 Dafa practitioners: Huang Wei, Qiu Liying, Miao Jiantao, Zheng Hai, Xing Lihong, and Zhuo Guibin. To make a living, Huang Wei and a few other Dafa practitioners established a company. It was a legal business venture. The police arrested everyone partaking in this venture, without a legal arrest warrant, and confiscate much of the company's property. The 6 practitioners were detained in a detention center for over 30 days and the police could not find any unlawful activity. Nonetheless, the persecutors did not release the practitioners. Instead, they transferred them back to Hedong Police Station, where they interrogated them again and falsified their fingerprints. They wished to frame the practitioners, so they could sentence them to forced labor terms. Practitioner Qiu Liying went on a hunger strike to protest and as a consequence was in critical condition twice. Yet the Hedong Police Station personnel ignored her perilous medical condition and attempted to send her to a forced labor camp. Because she failed the medical exam, Qiu was sent back home where she was monitored. Huang Wei and Zheng Hai were sentenced to forced labor terms and are currently detained in the No. 2 Group of Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp. The whereabouts of Miao Jiantao and Zhuo Guibin is unknown.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Yin Juncai, 55, was arrested around June 2004. Her husband, deputy director of the city's Land Administration Bureau and director of the Developing District's Land Administration Bureau, was arrested as well. The couple is being held in the detention center of the provincial National Security Department. Their son and daughter-in-law were also illegally detained for 15 days for interfering with and trying to prevent their parents' arrest. After the arrest, the persecutors closed Yin's real estate company and the employees of the company thus are all out of work.

Falun Dafa practitioner Kang Hongxia and her young daughter (4 or 5 years old) were abducted by the Dongyuan Police Substation on April 15, 2004. Two elderly Dafa practitioners who were visiting Kang at the time were also arrested. Kang is being kept in custody in Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center. The police also searched her home and illegally confiscated 50 Dafa books. Her husband Tian Dajian, who is a non-practitioner, used to work at the Hebei Branch of the Xinhua News Agency. He was fired from his job simply because his wife is a Falun Gong practitioner.

Beginning of August 20003, based on reliable information, Wang Shengbiao, a Shijiazhuang City Dafa practitioner was secretly arrested. In January 2004, he was sentenced to three years' forced labor in secret. He is being detained in the Second Brigade of the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp, which is located in the northwest corner of the intersection between the northern part of the belt highway and the Southern Gaoji Road in Shijiazhuang City. Currently, one of Wang's legs became numb, making him unable to walk. He is very weak. The guards do not allow his family to visit him. As soon as Wang Shengbiao arrived at the camp, he was not allowed to sleep for five days and five nights. If he closed his eyes, the vicious people would beat him. When they saw he did not cooperate, they forced him to squat for more than 20 hours (i.e. one is neither allowed to sit down nor stand up, thus one suffers greatly). The chief of the guards realized that he would not sign the so-called "four letters" and thus ordered the prisoners to again brutally beat Wang Shengbiao.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Yang Zhixiong, who lives in the Zhuoda residential area in Shijiazhuang City, was detained in Shijiazhuang City for eight months. The Shijiazhuang City Intermediate People's Court recently sentenced him to four years in prison. He is currently being held at room 212 in the No. 2 Shijiazhuang Detention Center. Ms. Qi Hongjin, Yang's wife, is also a Dafa practitioner. In June 2003, Yuhua District Police Department and Yuqiang Police Station arrested Qi Hongjin and sentenced her to two years in a forced labor camp without a trial. They ransacked her home and confiscated property worth approximately 10,000 yuan (2). Furthermore, the police deceived Yang Zhixiong. Yang was working in Beijing at that time. He was illegally detained when he returned home after being deceived by the police.

Dafa Practitioners Mr. Song Hongshui and his wife Ms. Li Huiyun are employees of the College of Electronics, Hebei Province Science Technology University in Shijiazhuang City. In late February 2004 they were captured and taken to Hebei Province's Capital Legal System Training Center, which is actually a brainwashing center. Li Huiyun is presently being detained at the brainwashing center and has been mentally traumatized.
