Victim of South African Shooting Interviewed by Australia Associated Press
(Clearwisdom.net) On June 28, 2004, nine Australian Falun Gong practitioners
flew to South Africa and planed to file a lawsuit against two Chinese officials
who were visiting South Africa at that time, Zeng Qinghong and Bo Xilai, for
their participation in the persecution of Falun Gong. On their way from the
airport to the hotel, they encountered a shooting attack. David Liang was shot
in both feet. On July 23, David was interviewed by AAP correspondent Maria
Hawthorne and related his experience. He called upon the Australian government
to cooperate with the South Africa authorities to investigate the shooting
incident. AAP reported that Sydney taxi driver David Liang was driving a hired car from
Johannesburg Airport to Pretoria when another car drew alongside and an assault
rifle was pointed out the window. Liang was quoted saying, "They opened up the window and pulled out an AK-47,
a Chinese military gun, and shot the lower part of the car. Then they shot about
five bullet holes in the car and two bullets hit my feet." The report went on to say that the shots shattered his right ankle, tore into
his left foot and blew out his car's front tyres. Mr Liang struggled to control
the car. Unable to brake, he managed to steer the car to the safety of the side
of the road. His attackers did not stop.
