(Clearwisdom.net) July 20, 2004 marked five years since Jiang and his
followers began the persecution of Falun Gong. Austin Falun Gong practitioners
gathered outside the Texas State Government to call for an immediate end to the
persecution of Falun Gong and to bring Jiang to justice. Over the past five years, Jiang has abused his power to control the national
machinery, and made a policy of "Defame their reputation, bankrupt them
economically, and destroy them physically," in order to attempt to eradicate
Falun Gong practitioners who believe in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." As
a result, more than 1,000 practitioners are verified to have died as a result of
the persecution, at least 6,000 practitioners have been sentenced to prison,
about 1,000 practitioners have been detained in mental hospitals and more than a
hundred thousand practitioners have been sent to forced labor camps. Over the
past few years, Jiang's group has also attempted to extend the persecution
outside of China, and not long ago, they hired gunmen to shoot Falun Gong
practitioners in South Africa. Large banners reading, "Falun Dafa-Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," and
"Put Criminal Jiang Zemin on Trial for Genocide," were very eye-catching,
delivering a strong message: the inhuman persecution must be stopped! Criminal
Jiang Zemin must be put on trial for persecuting Falun Gong. At lunch time, people passing by the practitioners, including tourists and
staff workers of many government organizations, were all attracted by the
practitioners' special display, and they were shocked upon learning the facts of
the persecution. Some people took pictures and some carefully read the materials
regarding the inhuman persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China's labor
camps and prisons. Falun Gong practitioners peacefully sat in meditation and sent forth
righteous thoughts, distributed flyers and explained to the kind people about
the facts of the persecution to awaken their conscience and to help stop the
persecution. Over the past five years, Falun Gong practitioners have neither been subdued,
nor have they used violence in response to the brutal persecution. Jiang's plot
to "eradicate Falun Gong in three months" has completely failed. Torture and
killing will never change practitioners' will and strong determination to uphold
justice. The persecution that is based on torture, killing, deceit, lies and
incitement of hatred is doomed to fail and the persecutors will definitely be
put on trial.
