Seoul, Korea: Candlelight Vigil by the Banks of the Han River (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) On July 24, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners held a
candlelight vigil by the Han River side to commemorate fellow practitioners who
have died from the persecution in China and to call upon kind people to come
together to stop the persecution. At 5pm, practitioners set up truth-clarifying posters by the Han River to
allow people passing by to learn about the ruthless persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners currently taking place in China. Practitioners also held a live
re-enactment of the torture methods to expose the genocide committed by the
Jiang's group against Falun Gong practitioners in China. People were all shocked
at the persecution and expressed their indignation. Later, some practitioners formed two Chinese characters, "Fa rectification".
The scene was very solemn. After standing silent tribute for 3 minutes, a
practitioner read out the opening remarks, "Please kindle a candle". The opening
remarks stated, "They use their sincerity to face the lies, use their compassion
to stop the evildoings and use their tolerance and forgiveness to face violence
and mistreatments. They inspire people's conscience and good will and guide
people to take the path returning 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance'". "Dots of candlelight and pieces of sad melody recount practitioners' solemn,
stirring and heroic undertaking. Dots of candlelight and pieces of epics relate practitioners' compassion and
persistence. Dots of candlelight build one after another bridges to connect people's
hearts, conscience and justice. Dots of candlelight bring hopes and spread the beauty of
Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. Kindle a candle to pass sincerity and goodness; kindle a candle to bring warm
and light to the world." One of the mainstream TV stations in Korea sent reporters to cover the event.
The activity concluded at about 10pm. |
