610 Office Persecutes Practitioner Zhou Shichun and Her Mother

(Clearwisdom.net) The "610 Office"(1) of Yantai City, Shandong Province has severely persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners. Not long ago, the "610 Office" members tortured to death Falun Dafa practitioner He Xiuling.

After March 11, 2004, the date on which Mrs. He Xiuling was tortured to death in the Yantai Detention Center (2), practitioners Hou Shufeng, Zhou Shichun and Sui Shumie received sentences ranging from seven to ten years. They refused to accept the injustice and filed appeals. Zhou Shichun was forced to endure inhuman torture while in detention. As a result, she became severely ill and was sent to a hospital, but even there, she was still tortured. She escaped from the hospital, but the "610 Office" officials pursued her for one hundred kilometers (more than 60 miles) until they caught her again and took her to the nearby Jinan City Detention Center.

When Zhou Shichun was detained, the Yantai City "610 Office" police did not notify her family, causing Zhou's elderly parents to remain unaware of her whereabouts for seven months. Her parents became very worried and asked about their daughter wherever they could. They did not find any information until mid-April 2004, when Zhou's parents traveled over a thousand kilometers (more than 625 miles) to Shandong Province in search of their lost daughter, still unaware that she had been detained. When they finally learned of it, they went to the police station in the Zhifu District (2) of Yantai City to request their daughter's release, but the police in the "610 Office" refused to allow them inside the gates of the compound, and physically dragged the elderly couple from the office. The two elderly people put up a strong argument. After much debate, the police ran out of excuses and had to permit the parents to see their daughter at the detention center. It was not until 5:00 o'clock that afternoon when they were finally allowed to see their daughter, who was sitting in a police vehicle. They did not have a chance to say much to her before the daughter was quickly taken back and shoved into a cell. The next day, the mother formally requested to see her daughter again, but this time the police refused and sent her away.

Sources report that the Yantai City Police Department has been hiring a staff of so-called "security guards" of varying ages, who will be trained and then placed on the streets and in Neighborhood Committees to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. Recently, they arrested eight practitioners and subjected them to a brainwashing program, demanding 3000 yuan (3) from each for a so-called "brainwashing fee."
