Fifty-six-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Wu Keli from Yitong County, Jilin Province was the Vice Director of Yitong County Technical Supervision Bureau. In April 1994, he began practicing Falun Dafa in Changchun City. After he started practicing, people who knew him well commented, "If every manager were like him, there would not be any corruption."

On the afternoon of March 14, 2002, after Wu left work, Yitong County Police Bureau Head Zhang Qi deceived him into going with him to have a "chat" and took him to the police station. On the same day, he was illegally detained. After a few days, it was said that Wu's relatives were asked to send some money to the police station, but his family members refused. A week later, Wu was sent to the detention center, and was tortured in order to force him to make a confession. He was forced to sit on the "Tiger Bench" (1) for over 20 hours while a very loud speaker repeatedly played next to his ears. They did not allow Wu to sleep, eat, drink, or use the bathroom. They forced Wu to admit that he was the assistant at the local Falun Gong assistance center. In the end, without producing any proof, Wu was illegally sentenced to five years of imprisonment. He is currently illegally detained at Jilin Prison. The prison has not allowed his relatives to visit him for over one year, and also refused to deliver to him the daily living necessities that his family sent. His relatives are only allowed to give money to the prison.

Finally, the prison only allows the family to communicate with Wu through phone calls. Even so, prison guards also wiretapped the phones. It was said that Wu's eyesight has deteriorated dramatically due to the continuous torture, and he is nearly blind. Even with glasses, he is unable read the letters from his family, and he can only have someone read the letter to him. In addition, Wu's toes became numb and painful, and he has difficulty walking. In order to block the news of its persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, the prison transferred to other places all policemen who are related to the families of Falun Gong practitioners.

We hope the relevant human rights organization around the world and people with a sense of justice will condemn and stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at Jilin Prison.
