(Clearwisdom.net) In "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference," Master taught us,
"As Dafa disciples have clarified the facts you have saved many beings who were supposed to be saved, but it's not enough. In fact, so far, what you've accomplished is still limited, and in terms of numbers the proportion is still quite small. The Dafa disciples in Mainland China, in particular, have the greatest responsibility. The main body of Dafa disciples is in China, so the Dafa disciples there should do even better; through lessons learned they should become more rational and more clearheaded, and do things more righteously; they should allow more sentient beings to be saved; and they should have the effect of the main body of Dafa disciples. Everything the Dafa disciples in other regions do revolves around the main body of Dafa in Mainland China, and is restraining the evil's persecution, lessening the pressure for the Dafa disciples in Mainland China, and helping the Dafa disciples in Mainland China to clarify the facts."
I have come to realize that Master's teaching is to correct the thoughts that were formed in the past five years of our fellow practitioners in China and abroad alike.
Since July 20, 1999, the persecution has been very brutal indeed and the pressure in that environment has been very intense. Many fellow practitioners in China (possibly what Master describes as the third group of students) maintain the mentality of everyday people passively enduring the persecution. They cannot set aside the attachment of seeking outside themselves and they always look for some external forces to end the persecution and thus end their sufferings. Misled by such everyday people's mentality, this group of practitioners has been passively expecting some outside factors to redress the injustice for them. One of the manifestations is that they anticipate some external force to save them …quot;looking for answers from certain everyday people like the Prime Minister, from the "Two Conferences (1)," from the United Nations Human Rights Committee, from overseas practitioners who are making phone calls to eliminate the persecution, and from some international organizations to bring Jiang to justice. By and large, they are looking for someone to save them.
It is this very attachment that hinders the effect of restraining and lessening the persecution and thoroughly ending the persecution. The earlier one sets aside this attachment, the more likely one can demonstrate the power of Dafa through oneself as a Dafa practitioner. This is because the persecution is not about some ordinary people persecuting others. Rather it is about the dark minions of the Old Forces controlling the rotten demons that commit bad deeds. Sometimes the dark minions may even commit bad deeds themselves. Therefore, the problem cannot be resolved with human attachments. Surely it cannot!
If we don't abolish our attachments or elevate ourselves with regards to our understanding of the Fa-rectification, the remaining evils will continue to come back, even if their numbers have been reduced. They will specifically target for persecution those who have strong attachments in their cultivation practice and those they consider are not qualified to be Dafa disciples. As long as we do the three things we Dafa practitioners are supposed to do, and we always do things wholeheartedly, the dark minions of the Old Forces will not be able to do as they wish, because we do what Master has required of us and we do not fall into the trap of the Old Forces. On the other hand, if we hold onto the attachments of everyday people and more or less take ourselves as victims in daily life, or do not follow Master's requirements to do the three things we ought to do, the dark minions of the Old Forces will take it that we choose to be the disciples of theirs instead of Master's. In that case, they will certainly take care of us in their way …quot; their way of teachings to beat us lethally or beat us to death until our righteous thoughts come out.
Therefore the attachment of dependency upon outside help, which shows up merely as being weak or unconfident, is in fact a manifestation of the lack of firm belief in the Fa and lack of understanding of the Fa. Such an attachment is certainly very harmful. As the Fa-rectification reaches such a critical stage, one must set aside the attachment and become a genuine Dafa disciple.
Regarding the situation overseas, since the anti-persecution and truth-clarification activities we have been doing are truly effective, some of us have slowly become accustomed to stressing something like "this is my project," "I want to establish my mighty-virtue," etc. Driven by our everyday attachment of abilities and accomplishments, we start to take Dafa work personally, fall into the habit of doing the project itself, amplify the work we are doing unconsciously, and finally forget about where the work we're doing objectively is in the overall picture of the Fa-rectification, and about how to support the entire Fa-rectification from the project we are doing.
Actually if I should take some everyday things to contrast with, in this war between good and evil, practitioners inside China and outside China are like different armed forces assigned to fight in different battlegrounds. China is the main battleground and the Dafa disciples in China are the main armed forces, who, using righteous thoughts and power gained from the cultivation practice, are eliminating the evil forces that come from other dimensions. Practitioners outside China, on the other hand, are like supplemental armed forces that are restraining the evil and helping practitioners in China eliminate the evil. Wherever they are, each soldier is part of the whole army, and each battleground plays an irreplaceable role. Nobody can replace another's role. Otherwise, it would not be us fighting in concert.
