The Shanhaiguan District Education Bureau in Qinghuangdao City Persecutes Falun Dafa Practitioners and Deceives Teachers and Students

(Clearwisdon.net) Since July 20, 1999, some officials at the Shanhaiguan District Education Bureau have closely followed Jiang and participated in the persecution of Falun Dafa. They have defamed both Falun Dafa, which teaches people the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, and the founder of Falun Dafa Mr. Li Hongzhi. They also cooperated with the district government, district party committee and the police bureau in persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners in the education system. They have poisoned the minds of many teachers and students in the district.

1. At the end of July 1999, in carrying out the directives from the District Party Committee, the education bureau ran a brainwashing session for about 20 Falun Gong practitioners in the education system. The bureau forced the practitioners to talk about their understanding on the suppression of Falun Gong by the Central government and forced everyone to make known their position on the issue. At the meeting, the deputy head of the propaganda department viciously attacked and defamed Falun Dafa and its founder Mr. Li Hongzhi.

2. Carrying out a system of contracted responsibility on steadfast Falun Gong practitioners. Each of the practitioners are monitored by two people designated by the education bureau.

3. Restricting the personal freedom of Falun Gong practitioners. Those steadfast Falun Gong practitioners were deprived of the right to visit their families in other parts of the country. If they insisted on going, they must get permission from the district "610 Office." (1)

4. Keeping telephone surveillance on Falun Gong practitioners. This was particularly prevalent during what they called sensitive days. Sometimes they would phone the practitioners at midnight, which not only disturbed the family members but also their neighbors. The authorities also monitored the practitioners' home telephones.

5. The Party Secretary of the education bureau would often lead a group of people to go to a practitioner's home in an attempt to force them to renounce their belief in Falun Dafa. This kind of activity was more frequent during the holidays and so-called sensitive days.

6. After the staged "Tiananmen self-immolation" in 2001, the education bureau cooperated closely with the District Party Committee to force Falun Dafa practitioners to sign a paper that slandered Falun Dafa and its founder Mr. Li Hongzhi. Those who refused to sign it would be sent to a detention center.

7. They cooperated with the District Government to force Falun Gong practitioners to visit a photo exhibition that slanders Falun Dafa and its founder Mr. Li Hongzhi.

8. They cooperating with the District Party Committee, the District Government and the police bureau to expel four Falun Dafa practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal from the Party, dismissed them from their posts, cut their salaries and fined them 3000 yuan (2) each. The four practitioners are Ms. Sun Yuzhi, head of the Personnel Section of the Education Bureau, Mr. Gao Yingming, a postgraduate in fine arts and a teaching and research fellow of the Education Bureau's Teaching and Research Section, Ms. Wang Xiaoqiu, Director of the Nanjie Kindergarten and Ms. Li Boxin, the Deputy Director of Nanjie Kindergarten. In addition, the Education Bureau also illegally detained Falun Dafa practitioner Liang Mengjun, Deputy Director of the Office of the Education Bureau and gave him a major demerit. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Ma Chunxiu, Director of the Teaching Equipment Station of the Education Bureau, has been under long-term surveillance.

9. The District "610 Office" ran brainwashing sessions, slandering Falun Dafa for practitioners in the Cultural Bureau and the Education Bureau. The Education Bureau actively cooperated with the "610 Office," and its Party Secretary Li personally sent Falun Gong practitioners to the brainwashing sessions.

10. They convened all kinds of meetings to attack Falun Dafa.

11. The Education Bureau organized teachers to hold a public speaking competition with attacking Falun Dafa as the theme.

12. The Education Bureau requested that school authorities post materials defaming Falun Dafa on bulletin boards in every classroom.

13. They organized teachers to watch movies and plays that defame Falun Dafa.

14. Some of the schools added anti-Falun Dafa content to their end-term exams. Nanyuan High School is one of them.

15. The Education Bureau requested school authorities organize teachers and students to hold public meetings denouncing Falun Dafa and invited the Shanhaiguan TV Station to videotape them. Xinglong, Xinghua and Nanyuan Primary School were among the schools that had their public meetings videotaped.

Li Jingshen, the former Party Secretary of the Education Bureau (now retired) should bear the most responsibility. He followed the persecution of Falun Gong and poisoned the minds of many teachers and students. As a result of his actions, the defamation of Dafa became a regular part of school activities, which had a terrible effect on the students.

We sincerely hope that those people responsible in the district can turn back from their actions and undo the great harm they have caused to the children.

(1) "610 Office" - A bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.

(2) Yuan - Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 yuan.
