On the evening of July 1, 2004, practitioner Feng'e Xiang, from Caishan, Huangmei County and her husband were sound asleep after the day's work. At about 10:30pm, a village cadre named Yaohua Chen knocked on the door. When the door was opened, four policemen led by Yajun He rushed into the room. Without a search warrant, they thoroughly searched the home. They confiscated copies of Zhuan Falun (the main book of Falun Gong) and Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. Then they forcibly abducted her and took her to the police station.

The police separated into three shifts to interrogate Feng'e Xiang. They wanted to know who gave her the Falun Gong materials and told her that if she would cooperate, they would release her, otherwise, they would beat her face with a wooden plank. Feng'e Xiang was later severely beaten, suffering injuries that caused her to bleed from the mouth.

Mr. Rongshen Li, who is over 50 years old, is a practitioner from the Chengdu Steel Pipe Factory. He was arrested again while on a medical release.

Ms. Qing Chang, 66 years old, living at the Wuye Dormitory, was arrested after her home was illegally searched.

On July 6, practitioners Shuzhong Li and Guomin Ji went to Aohan, Inner Mongolia on a motorcycle to distribute the truth-clarifying materials (they have been homeless for quite some time). On their way, their motorcycle had an accident and large amount of truth-clarifying materials were discovered. Shuzhong Li was detained by the "Beipiao 610 Office"(1) and the local police.

Ms. Suyu Zhang, 52 years old, residing in Shangzhuang Village, Luquan City, works for the Xinhua District government in Shijiazhuang City. Since Jiang's regime started persecuting Falun Gong, she has been targeted several times. On the eve before the Chinese New Year in 2000, she was arrested by the Hezhuo Road Police Substation and her home was searched. She was sent to the Beijing Tuanhe Labor Camp and tortured severely. In total, she was illegally jailed for over one year.

In July 2002, Suyu Zhang was turned in by an informant, and was arrested and transferred by the Xinhua District 610 Office to the Xinhua District Brainwashing Class. Two weeks later, she was transferred to the brainwashing center in the capital city of the province and was tortured both physically and mentally for over eight months.

On the evening on June 21, 2004, when Suyu Zhang was hanging up truth-clarifying banners in a suburban area, she was arrested by the patrolling 610 Officers and her home was searched.

Ms. Xiuzhen Zhang, a practitioner from Shijiazhuang City, about 60 years old, was arrested by the Shijiazhuang 610 Office, the Tannan Road Police Substation, the Residence Committee of the Teachers' University and the secretary general of the Tannan Road Office. She was taken to the brainwashing center in the capital city of the province.

When she went downstairs, she was arrested by the police from the Xiashan Police Substation.

Ms. Xiuying Zhang, 54 years old, resides in Zhaijia Tiexi New District, Shenyang City. On July 5, 2004, Zhang was reported when she was handing out truth-clarifying materials at the Dapan Supermarket in Dapan Village, Yuhong District. She was arrested by policeman Xiuyue Guan from the Dapan Police Substation. She is now detained at the Shenyang No. 4 Detention Center.
