Practitioner Li Hongfu Savagely Tortured at the Xishanping Labor Camp in Chongqing City

(Clearwisdom.net)

Mr. Li Hongfu, 29, was a farmer in Ganshui Town, Qijiang County, Chongqing City. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. In July 2000, he was abducted by the authorities after saying "Falun Dafa is good" in public and was sentenced to one year in a labor camp. He refused to be "transformed" in the labor camp, so his sentence term was increased by another 9 months in June 2001.

In mid December 2001, team leader Liu Hua of the no.1 Squadron, 7th Brigade ordered a group of approximately seven drug addict inmates to beat up Li Hongfu. They dragged Li Hongfu from the cell, scraping his face along the ground, all the way to the exercise yard. They held him to the ground, pulled off his socks and stuffed them into his mouth. Then they started beating him savagely. They lashed his face and head with the sole of a shoe, kicked his chest, abdomen, lower back, and rib cage, and stepped on his back, legs, feet and arms. They fiercely beat Hongfu such that his face became dark and swollen, and he sustained severe internal injuries. Then they dragged Hongfu to the "Tight Discipline Team" where inmates Deng Ping, Liu Hongguang, and Zheng Wei tortured and beat him 24 hours a day. He was forced to stand during the day, and deprived of sleep at night. Such tortures caused Li Hongfu to suffer acute vomiting, abdominal distension, and excruciating pain. Finally they sent Hongfu to Chongqing City no.9 People's Hospital for intensive care. The guards from the no.1 Squadron lied to the doctor at the hospital saying Hongfu required hospitalization because he was sick. But after conducting a physical examination the doctor in charge pointed out that Hongfu's injuries could only have resulted from severe beating. Hongfu could not even take food at the hospital, and his life was sustained through IV infusion. The labor camp was afraid of their liability so they forced Hongfu's family to take him home. Hongfu weighed a mere 40 kg [88 lbs] when he was discharged from the hospital.

After Hongfu returned home he often suffered vomiting, abdominal pain and swelling. He could eat very little and could not take care of himself. His family borrowed 7,000 Yuan so that he could receive care and treatment at the Qijiang County People's Hospital. After he was treated for about a month the money ran out, and he was discharged from the hospital. Hongfu remained physically weak. He could not move his right arm, which had a swollen wound with pus. He could only use his left hand to eat and work. His parents and his wife shouldered the burden of his living expenses.

Guards who directly participated in torturing Li Hongfu were: Liu Hua, Li Qiwei, Xiao Xingming, Tian Xin, and Wang Cheng, etc.

Inmates who directly participated in torturing Li Hongfu were: He Weidong, Deng Ping, Liu Hongguang, and Zheng Wei, etc.
