(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of July 13, 2004, a Falun Gong practitioner from North America was calling people in China to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution. When she randomly dialed a number in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, a man answered the phone. To her surprise, this man told her that his name was Ni Guobin, and that he was a Falun Gong practitioner as well. At that very moment, the police were at his residence trying to illegally abduct him, and he was resisting the persecution and clarifying the truth to the people watching nearby.

Six hours later however, Mr. Ni Guobin was arrested and taken away by the police. It is said that he is now being detained at Wuhan Second Detention Center.

Mr. Ni Guobin has a college degree, and is self-employed. He lives at Unit 103, Entrance One, Building 46, No. 3 Village of Changqing Garden, Dongxihu District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. He had already been unlawfully jailed for three years for practicing Falun Gong. Now, not long after being released, he was abducted again. His wife was seven months pregnant, and his parents are in their seventies, and both suffer from high blood pressure. All his family members are shocked and distressed because of this incident.

It is reported that the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in Dongxihu District is extremely severe. At present, there are 59 Falun Gong practitioners being detained at brainwashing centers. Many leading government officials in this area have been directly involved in the persecution against Falun Gong. These include Xiao Zuoyi, the Secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee of Dongxihu District; Li Zhengdong, the Deputy Secretary; Lin Zhengxing, formerly the Director of the "610 Office" for three years and now Party Secretary of the Zoumaling Farm; Li Dengchun, formerly Party Secretary of the District Court, now retired; Qian Changlai, formerly the Director of the Department of Armed Force of Dongxihu District, then transferred to the District Political and Judiciary Committee, now the Director of the Environmental Sanitation Bureau, and Qiu Hanhua, Head of the First Division of Wuhan City Police Department. These people have all been directly involved in the persecution.

Besides the people listed above, there are more vicious perpetrators that include Feng Zhuanyun, the Chief of Section One of the Dongxihu District Police Department; Zhang Changfa, the former Deputy Chief; Liu Gongping, the Deputy Director of the Xincun Police Station, who often ransacks the homes of and abducts Falun Gong practitioners, and Li Xingfu, the current Director of the District "610 Office." Li Xingfu has issued many arrest orders that have resulted in a large number of Falun Gong practitioners suffering brutal persecution; he has an undeniable responsibility for the illegal abduction, detention and forced labor sentences of Falun Gong practitioners in the Dongxihu District. Wang Jianhua and Li Jinjie from the Dongxihu District brainwashing center have used methods such as torturing, brainwashing and physical punishment, force-feeding, humiliation, and ransacking Falun Gong practitioners' homes, all to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief. They have also used other means, including applying pressure by involving family members and friends in a particular Falun Gong case, firing practitioners from their jobs and fining practitioners.

Persecution Cases

In early March 2001, when Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xia Gang was making Falun Gong truth-clarification materials with others, the police from Division One of the Wuhan City Police Department abducted him. They sent him to the Wuhan City Hewan Forced Labor Camp on April 30, 2001. During the detention, Mr. Xia was tortured severely and he became extremely weak. In June 2001 he was released under "medical parole." On October 16, 2001, Xia Gang died as a result of the torture.

Schoolteachers Ms. Li Zhi and Ms. He Yan from Wujiashan Fourth Middle School went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but they were arrested and sent back to their hometown. The school principal had cooperated with the "610 Office" and illegally detained them in the school several times, and had also sent them to brainwashing centers. Because Ms. Li and Ms. He wouldn't give up their belief in Falun Dafa, the school authority stopped their paychecks for a long term. Ms. Li Zhi had started practicing Falun Dafa in March 1999, and had greatly benefited from the practice both mentally and physically. She was very firm in her belief. Her husband, who is an official in the labor bureau, cooperated with the "610 Office" and often beat her up in an attempt to force her to stop practicing Falun Dafa. He used a bench to beat her and hit her so hard that the bench broke. Ms. Li Zhi was often beaten to the point that she had to just curl up on the floor and wait for him to become exhausted so that he would stop beating her. Her body was always covered with large bruises. Her husband did not stop beating her until she eventually became very sick and was taken to the hospital. Ms. Li Zhi died in the hospital in the summer of 2002.

Practitioner Ms. Wang owned a small shoeshine business at Chengjiashan, where she was temporarily living. In July 2001, while she was clarifying the truth on the street, the police from Section One of the Police Department abducted her and sent her to Wuhan City No.1 Female Detention Center. In the detention center, Ms. Wang was severely beaten by the police and as a result she suffered a severe mental collapse. Her husband had been laid off from his job for a long time and had no income. She needed to support her husband and three school-aged children by running that small shoeshine business. But now the severe persecution has kept her from supplying even their most basic necessities.
