Some Lessons Learned Regarding "Letting Go of Your Attachment"

(Clearwisdom.net) The three things that Teacher wants us to do (send forth righteous thoughts, study the Fa and clarify the truth) all compliment each other. If one of the three is not done correctly, it will affect the other two. Even worse, the old forces can take advantage of any gaps to further the persecution and damage Dafa.

Some practitioners felt that they were doing a good job at cultivation and had firm righteous thoughts, and they wouldn't listen to others' opinions. While we were doing Fa-rectification projects, other practitioners pointed out areas in which we needed to be careful, such as additional security measures for our computers. One particular practitioner replied, "If you let go of your attachment then everything will be ok." He refused to listen, using "letting go of your attachment" as his excuse, and neglected the necessary security measures. This problem is very common, so I want to talk about my experience.

In my experience, if you really let go of your attachment, of course everything will be ok. But the things that we are attached to are like mountains and, even if you say you "let go of your attachment," is it really so? Cultivation is a process. Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference,"

"If you took a look in the extreme microcosm at the material formed by what your mind is attached to, [you'd see that] they are mountains, huge mountains, made of hard, granite-like rock, and once they are formed there's simply no way for a human being to move them....There are many things that you can't do but that Master can. And so how does Master do them? It's not like as soon as we come into contact I'll remove them. When your righteous thoughts are firm and when you can repel those things, I remove them for you bit by bit; however much you can do, that's how much I remove for you and diminish for you. (Applause) But since you're a cultivator, you have to truly hold yourself to the requirements for a cultivator. Even though sometimes you still can't quite get there yet, you've got to at least have those righteous thoughts, and you've got to cultivate yourselves."

So you can say you let go of your attachment, but are you really at that level? If you are not at that level, you won't have the necessary security measures, and the old forces can take advantage of the gap and persecute Dafa and practitioners. Therefore, necessary security measures are still required.

If something indeed happens it is not just one individual's loss, it is Dafa's loss. We have to be responsible for Dafa.
