The Persecution of Practitioners in Jindouying Township, Yanggu County, Liaocheng City in Shandong Province

The police in Jindouying Township, Yanggu County, Liaocheng City in Shandong Province have broken into practitioners' homes to do searches many times within the past few years. They would climb over walls in the middle of the night to break into the houses. Once, the director of the village police station, Sun Qingwen (from Longhuzhai Village, Chengnan Town, Yanggu City) led people to Sun Lianchen's home in Ziluti Village and tried to force a search. When Sun Lianchen questioned his illegal actions, Sun Qingwen replied, "Why don't you go sue us."

On February 18, 2000, practitioners Zang Yuquan from Ziluti Village, Wang Chaohong from Xijin Village and Chaohong's brother, Wang Chaowei, traveled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. They performed the Falun Gong exercises peacefully in Tiananmen Square, and they were brutally beaten by the police and taken to the Liaocheng City Office in Beijing. Officers from the Yanggu City police department then brought them back two days later. Upon arrival, the department chief Li forced the practitioners to their knees and beat them all over their faces. Then he handcuffed them and forced them to stay in a squatting position overnight. The next day they were transferred to a jail, and after being forced to pay 1,500 Yuan, they were released a week later. Wang Chaohong was then fired from his teaching position, and Wang Chaowei was forced to drop out of Yanggu High School.

On March 3, 2000, practitioners Sun Jinlong and Wang Fuliang from Ziluti Village, Wang Chaohong, and Wang Chaowei went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. At that time the police were stopping every single car on the highway, so they traveled to Beijing on their bikes and took an alternate route. In Beijing they stayed in a deserted house in the Daxinghuang Village area. Two weeks later they were stopped by a patrolling military police officer on Tiananmen Square. The officer asked them if they practiced Falun Gong. When they answered yes, they were taken to the police station and detained in separate cells. Four to five policemen pushed Sun Jinlong and Wang Chaowei down onto a desk, handcuffed them, and beat and kicked them for over twenty minutes. Sun's forehead bled profusely due to injuries sustained during the assault. Later the police took the four practitioners to the Beijing Office of Liaocheng City, where they met Wei Faquan from Ziluti Village, who had come to appeal for Falun Gong and had been held there. The next day all five of them were taken to Yanggu County and held in the detention center. They were released after one month, except for Wang Chaohong, who was held for an additional month. Each practitioner was forced to pay a fine, totaling 11,000 Yuan. Sun Jinlong was fined 2,000 Yuan, Wang Fuliang 1,500 Yuan, Wei Faquan 2,500 Yuan. Wang Chaowei and Wang Chaohong together were fined 5,000 Yuan.

In 2000 and 2001, the head of Jindouying Township Cui Fuzhen, the political and justice secretary Xu Xiangdong, police station chief Wei Xuming, and deputy police chief Gu Deyu started a brainwashing class in the township office. Each brainwashing session had 40 to 50 people and lasted for about 20 days. The longest session lasted for 82 days. Practitioners were held in one large room, with township officials and people from the police station taking turns to guard them. No one was allowed outside of the room except for restroom visits, which were only allowed on the hour. Every day they tried to force practitioners to watch propaganda films, reflect on the lies and turn against Dafa. Officials extorted 1,000 Yuan from Sun Jinzeng from Ziluti Village and 500 Yuan from Wei Faquan.

On the evening of March 22, 2001, a group of practitioners, including Sun Lianchen, went out to distribute fliers about Falun Gong. Some one in Guanmenkou Village of Litai Town reported them to the police and Sun was arrested. A small squadron of police surrounded Sun and beat him. One of the policemen grabbed Sun's hair and smashed him in the eye with his knee, which caused Sun to bleed profusely. When the police officers were finished beating him, he had bruises all over his body and his clothes were torn. One member of the squadron stole 10 Yuan cash out of Sun's pocket. Finally they took him to Jindouying Police Station and illegally detained him, but with strong righteous thoughts Sun walked out of the detention center at 3 o'clock in the morning. Since then he has been forced into homelessness to avoid further arrest from the police, who are actively harassing his family and relatives looking for him.

From April to June 2001, the local Falun Gong practitioners have suffered all types of persecution. Zang Yuquan was illegally arrested and sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp after a former practitioner who had been brainwashed in the persecution revealed his whereabouts. Later Zang was able to get out of the labor camp with righteous thoughts. The police issued an "all points bulletin" in both Henan and Shandong provinces looking for Zang Yuquan, forcing him to move from place to place to avoid being captured.

In May and June of 2001, the township police station used many excuses to lure practitioners' families into sending practitioners to brainwashing classes in a communist party school in Yanggu County. The county "610 Office" director Tang Tao and deputy director, Mr. Yue, set up a team of people to conduct the brainwashing sessions and also went there themselves to supervise. The brainwashing classes also included practitioners from nearby villages and towns. Each session lasted approximately two weeks.

In August 2001, Wang Chaohong was monitored and followed before being arrested and illegally detained at Yanggu Detention Center. Because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong, he was sentenced to 3 years in a labor camp. One month after the sentencing, he was sent to Wangcun Labor Camp.

On December 27, 2001, right before the Spring Festival, the town police station arrested fourteen practitioners and took them to a brainwashing class under the direction of the head of the Liaocheng City "610 Office" Li Yugong. Sun Yingsheng from Ziluti Village escaped with strong righteous thoughts, but then Sun's wife was abducted. The group of practitioners was illegally detained for 50 to 70 days, and they were subjected to brainwashing and coercion to give up their cultivation. On their release the authorities extorted money from them to "pay for their meals."

The money extorted from the practitioners is as follows. Sun Jinfang from Ziluti Village, 1,500 Yuan, Sun Jinlong, 2,000 Yuan, Sun Jinzeng, 2,000 Yuan, Sun Zhaoxian, 1,500 Yuan, Sun Qingxiang, 1,500 Yuan, Wang Fuliang, 2,000 Yuan, Zang Chaoqing, 2,000Yuan, Wei Faquan, 1,500Yuan, Cui Chunxian, 500Yuan, and Zhao Wenying (wife of Zang Yuquan), 1,500 Yuan, Zhang Chunying from Dongjin Village, 2,000 Yuan, Liu Xinchun from Wutai Village, 1,500 Yuan, Xue Sanying from Xijin Village, 1,500 Yuan.

In May 2003, practitioner Liu Yu'e from Dongjin Village was arrested and extorted out of 3,500 Yuan.

On the evening of July 8, 2004, Sun Jinfang, his brother Sun Jingang (both from Ziluti Village), Sun Jinlong, Wang Fuliang and Xiao Cun (female, from Shelisi Village in Zi County) were arrested on the highway between Yanggu and Jindouying by the police from Jindouying Village Police Station. They were all detained in a police station first and then taken to the Xihu Detention Center in Yanggu the next day.
