Practicing Falun Gong Improved My Health and Family, Which the Persecution Tried to Tear Apart

(Clearwisdom.net) I'm a Falun Gong practitioner from Niujia Town in Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province who started practicing Falun Gong in 1994. My family consists of five members, my in-laws, my husband and my preschool-age son. Before I learned to practice Falun Gong, my parents-in-law were constantly criticizing me, and my husband never stood up for me. Our family was always full of conflict, which made me feel very depressed and that life had no meaning. I often thought that my only way out of the situation was either through divorce or death. I also suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, which I couldn't recover from, even though I took a lot of medicine to relieve the symptoms.

In 1994, I was so fortunate to learn to practice Falun Gong. Not only did the rheumatoid arthritis I suffered from for several years disappear, Master's teachings also showed me the true meaning of life. Through studying the Falun Dafa principles and living my life according to the principle of "Truth- Compassion-Tolerance," I no longer was focused so intensely on my own feelings and problems but instead showed consideration first toward my parents-in-law. Whenever there were family conflicts, I first would look inside myself to find my own shortcomings in the matter and let go of my own attachments. Thus, my entire family became harmonious, and both my child and parents-in-law were healthy and happy.

From July 20, 1999, Jiang and his political followers carried out a savage persecution against Falun Gong. On New Year's Day in 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and stood in Tiananmen Square and shouted to the passersby, "Falun Dafa is great" and "Restore our Master's good name." I was arrested in Tiananmen Square for saying these words. In the police department, some fellow practitioners including old people, children and women were beaten. Some were sent back to their local police stations to have fines levied on them, some were detained, and a few were even beaten to death. I wasn't sent back to my local police station but instead released, because too many people were arrested that day and there was not enough room for all of us.

Being afraid of being implicated in Jiang's persecution against Falun Gong and being deceived by the propaganda, my family didn't support me. Out of fear of the campaign against Falun Gong, My mother-in-law started insulting me regularly and my husband complained that he couldn't face people because they knew I practiced Falun Gong. He tried to force me to stop practicing Falun Gong by threatening to divorce me. However, I knew that the principle of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" which Master taught us to live by is right. Falun Gong practitioners are not doing anything wrong, and I couldn't go against my own conscience.

I gradually made my family understand me by explaining the facts about Falun Gong in detail and also by dispelling all the lies and propaganda that they had been exposed to. After learning the facts and the true situation, my family began to support me and agreed with my explanation. The elders said, "Those things are all ordered by Jiang Zemin. If there were not such a persecution, we wouldn't have treated you this way. We are also worried about you, worried that you will be arrested, be beaten, be harassed during festivals and be fined!"

I was firm with my family that to be a good person was not wrong and that Falun Dafa is great. I explained that the principle of karmic retribution will definitely reward good actions and wrongdoing will receive its due. It is certain that Jiang will be tried in the future for his crimes against humanity.
