(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Zhang Junjie, a 70-year-old retiree from the Xiangtan City's 2^nd Light Industry Bureau, started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong after the persecution started on July 20, 1999. In June 2000, police arrested him and detained him for a month at the Jinwan Detention Center, Xiangtan City with the pretext of "disturbing social security." In winter 2001, since Mr. Zhang and his wife saved money by cutting their living expenses to help other poor practitioners, police officers accused them of "confronting the Central government" and detained him and his wife for 48 days at the Shaziling, Xiangtan City. In March 2003, he was found to be making truth-clarification materials about Falun Dafa. Police accused him of "disturbing social order" and detained him for a month at the Sanjiaoping Detention Center. After being arrested, police officers from the National Security Bureau took turns interrogating him for over ten hours. Police officers searched his home many times and confiscated 2,000 yuan (1), which was the only money Zhang Junjie and his wife had for survival, and it still has not been returned. Police also monitored them in cars and by wearing plainclothes.

Ms. Chen Linghui, 65 years old, is a retiree from the Xiangtan City's 2^nd Light Industry Bureau. She began practicing Falun Dafa together with her husband in 1996. Since she frequently clarified the truth of Dafa to people, she has been severely persecuted as a so-called important person. In June 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution but was arrested and detained. In the detention center, she kept on clarifying the truth of Dafa and exposed the facts of the persecution to people, so she was sent to a jail. In the jail, she did not give in under the persecution and was sentenced to one year to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp. In the Baimalong Camp, she suffered endless tortures. During the 9^th month in the camp, she became too weak to walk or take care of herself. She was released in the winter of 2001, but her recovery was very slow, and she was still unable to talk smoothly. Even in such a case, some wicked officers still harassed her. Not long after her release from Baimalong Forced Labor Camp, she was detained for 48 days at Shaziling. When police officers arrested her, since she could not walk well, four police officers carried her down the stairs while covering her head with a cloth. The neighbors were very angry about it.

Mr. Luo Xiangjiang is a 45-year-old resident of Shitan Township, Xiangtan County. He began practicing Falun Dafa in 1998. Through practicing, he turned from a "Medicine Pot" into a healthy person. In 1999, he was a teacher at the technical school of the city. But he was fired because he insisted on practicing Falun Gong. On March 5, 2000, Luo and his wife went to Beijing to appeal but he was arrested in Miyun County and was interrogated by torture. The police hit his feet with steel and wooden stools, and slammed his head into the wall by holding his hair. The same day, he was transferred to the Xiangtan City Liaison Office in Beijing where police officers robbed 850 yuan of his money and several books. They also detained him for 7 days. Then he was escorted back to his hometown where he was detained for another 15 days. Local police officers coerced his family to pay 700 yuan as room and board fee and 12,000 yuan as a fine.

In October 2000, Luo was found delivering materials about Dafa and the persecution. Wu Jibin, the head of the Shitan Police Station, interrogated him with torture, searched his home and took away his computer, printer and other electronic equipment with a total value of about 10,000 yuan. He was sentenced to one year in forced labor camp. In 2001, police officers detained him again and brainwashed him for 6 months. Since he kept on studying and practicing Falun Gong, and clarifying the truth to people, he was beaten up many times by police officers and criminals. His personal belongs were almost all taken away by police officers. In the detention period, he was force-fed with thick salty water that almost killed him. Police officers also threatened his family members.

Mr. Wang Yuexun is a 41-year-old resident of Xiangtan City. In December 1999, he went to Beijing to clarify the truth of Dafa, but was arrested in January 2000 and was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. He was later detained in area 6 of the Chishan Jail, Yuanjiang County.

Mr. Zeng Gu, a 33-year-old resident of Xiangtan City, was formerly an accountant of the Xiangtan City Manganese Mine. He started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. In June 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal and clarify the facts of Falun Gong, but was illegally detained for a month. He was fired and fined 10,000 yuan, which was forcibly deducted from his parents' salary. Later, his home was searched because he made and delivered truth clarification materials about Dafa, and he was forced to stay at an out of town relative's place. In 2001, police officers arrested him again and sentenced him to one year of forced labor.

Mr. Deng Ye, 33 years old, was formerly an employee of the Xiangtan Steel Company. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. In 2001, he was arrested and beaten up when going to Beijing to appeal. Later, together with another practitioner, he installed loudspeakers close to detention centers and jails to broadcast facts about Falun Dafa. Police officers arrested him and detained him at the Sanjiaoping Detention Center for a year and a half before they sentenced him to 6 years in prison. Now he is detained at the Chishan Prison, Yuanjiang County.

Mr. Ma Junwen is a 33-year-old employee of the Xiangtan City Port. He started practicing Dafa in 1996. After the persecution started, leaders from the Port Authority Bureau talked with him: "We wanted to train you as a major future leader, but you must agree to quit the practice of Falun Gong. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to work here." He replied without hesitation: "I do not want to be a future leader, I want to practice Falun Gong." Thus, he was fired. In June 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal, but police officers arrested him and detained him for one month. Then they transferred him to a jail for another month of detention. After being released, he had to leave home to avoid more persecution. In 2002, when he went back to Hunan Province from Guangdong Province, he was found and arrested at the Hengyang Railway Station, and was detained at the Sanjiaoping Detention Center for over a year. Later he was sentenced to 7 years in jail and has been detained at the Chishan Prison, Yuanjiang County. In the prison, he refused to work and was beaten up and shocked by police officers and criminals using electric batons. He was seriously injured and had to stay in bed for over one month.

Mr. Wang Qingsheng is a 53-year-old employee of the Xiangtan Steel Company. He started practicing Dafa in 1996, and was the deputy coordinator of the former Falun Dafa Assistance Center of Xiangtan Administrative District. In June 2000, he was detained at the Jintangwan Detention Center in Xiangtan City for one month and was fired because he went to Beijing to appeal. In winter 2001, he was arrested and detained at the Sanjiaoping Detention Center for over one year. In 2003, he was illegally sentenced to 9 years in prison. He intended to appeal to the higher court, but police officers shouted: "If you appeal, we'll add one more year to your term." So his term was changed to ten years. Now he is detained at a jail in Changsha, the capital city of Hunan Province.

Mr. Liang Xingan is a 53-year-old resident of Xiangtan County. He began practicing Dafa in 1997. In winter 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal, but was arrested by police officers. Since he refused to report his address, he was sent to Liaoning Province. At temperatures of about -20 to -30 degrees Celsius (about -10 degrees Fahrenheit), police officers stripped him to his shorts and poured cold water on him. After going back to Xiangtan, he was detained at the Qilipu Detention Center of Xiangtan County for over one year. During the past few years, police have spent over 200,000 yuan just to monitor his telephone and mobile phone.

Ms. Lu Xiqiong is a 53-year-old accountant at the Xiangtan University Service Department. She began practicing Dafa in 1996. After the persecution started, police officers arrested her three times and sent her to detention center and forced labor camp. She was detained at a forced labor camp for one and half a years. Her home was searched four times and the police stole 9,000 yuan in cash, a 10,000 yuan deposit check, 14 Dafa books, and three walkman players. Her salary was suspended for 24 months, and she was expelled from the Communist Party.

In 2000, he was illegally detained for half a month and brainwashed for ten days for appealing to the government. At the end of 2000, he was detained for 20 days. His salary was suspended for over 16 months.

Mr. Tang Zhaomei is a 69-year-old retired professor from Xiangtan University. He began practicing Dafa in 1998. In June 2000, he was detained for one month for going to Beijing to appeal. In February 2001, he was illegally arrested and sent to Qilipu for his persistence in practicing Falun Gong. In September 2001, police officers from the Xiangtan University Security Department and the Cultural Section of the Public Security Bureau wanted to get awards and promotions, so they chose Mr. Tang as a target. To frame him, they arranged an agent to send Mr. Tang some Dafa materials at 9 a.m. on September 14. Police officers broke in and arrested him just 15 minutes later. They detained him at the Sanjiaoping Detention Center for one month.

Ms. Qing Sanfeng is a 63-year-old retired teacher from the affiliated middle school of Xiangtan University. She started practicing Dafa in 1998. On April 25, 2000, she went to Beijing City Appeals Office to clarify the facts of Dafa, but was detained at a stadium with many other Dafa practitioners where no food, no drinks and no bathrooms were offered. In June 2000, she went to Tiananmen Square but was detained at a suburban detention center in Beijing for half a month. Then she was escorted back to Xiangtan City and detained at Jintangwan Detention Center for half a month. In winter 2001, police officers accused her of delivering Dafa related materials. They detained her at the Sanjiaoping Detention Center first, and then sentenced her to one year of forced labor. Since she showed high blood pressure at the entrance physical test, the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City refused to take her. So she was allowed to stay at home with only 200 yuan of survival money.
