There are 9 Falun Gong practitioners from Xingtai City who have been illegally sentenced to jail. The detailed information is as follows:

Ms. Huo Guilan was sentenced to 9 years. Practitioner Zhang Baozhong was sentenced to 6 years. Yang Qinghua was sentenced to 3 years. Xia Yunsheng was sentenced to 3 years. Wang Jizhu was sentenced to 3 years with a 5-year suspension of the execution. Feng Wenping was sentenced to 3 years with a 5-year probation period. Dou Minxu was sentenced to 3 years with a 5-year probation period. Zhang Zhihong was sentenced to 3 years with a 5-year probation period. Ms. Ren Haixiang was sentenced to 3 years with a 4-year probation period. "" Among them, Wang Jizhu, Feng Wenping, Dou Minxu, Zhang Zhihong, and Ren Haixiang have been transferred to a brainwashing center and are suffering persecution there.

Dou Minxu, a 65-year-old practitioner, has been tortured by being "Hung up with hands cuffed behind the back"(1) 3 times. Li Boan, a practitioner from Ren County, was seriously beaten to the point of having a bone fracture. He is now recovering at home.

Mr. Yu Xuezhong is a 45 year old practitioner from Jilin City. In June of 2004 when he went to visit Jiaohe City, he clarified the truth about Falun Gong to pedestrians. Someone reported him and he was arrested by the Tianbei Police Station of Jiaohe City. On June 6, he was sent to the Bajiazi Detention Center. In the Bajiazi Detention Cetner, Yu Xuezhong suffered from serious tortures. He was beaten by the criminals in the detention center. His kidney and back were injured. On July 9, he was sent to Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp and was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

Practitioner Chen Zhifang from Huaiji County of Guangdong Province was arrested on July 27, 2004 and hasn't yet been released.

Ms. Cui Defang, in her 40's, was an employee of the Luoyang Tractor Fitting Factory in Luoyang City of Henan Province. In July of 2004, when Ms. Defang went back to her hometown of Fushun City, Liaoning Province to distribute truth-clarifying material (2), she was arrested. She is now being detained at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp of Liaoning Province.

On the afternoon of July 30, 2004, Ms. Yang Lifan, a practitioner from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province was abducted from her home. She is now being detained in the Detention Center of Linghai City.

At about 3:00 p.m. on July 22, 2004, Ms. Liu Yuqing was secretly arrested by local policemen.

At about 6:00 a.m. on August 9, 2004, Ms. Tang Shuxian, a practitioner from Tonghua City of Jilin Province was captured by community director Liu Xuemei, while she was distributing truth-clarifying material. Ms. Tang was sent to the Changliu Detention Center on the night of August 9.

Notes:

(1) "Hung up with hands cuffed behind the back" - With both hands cuffed behind the back, and both feet suspended, or only toes touching the ground, one is hung onto a basketball support or house beam with handcuffs.  Both hands and arms soon lose sensory perception while being hung up.  In addition, both hands will go dead from the lack of blood circulation.

(2) Truth-clarifying material: Flyers, pamphlets, posters, etc. with factual information about Falun Gong and the persecution to counter China's state-run media propaganda.
