(Clearwisdom.net) At the Times Square anti-torture exhibition site, I helped distribute truth-clarifying materials and explain the facts to passersby.
Around 1pm, when I tried to explain the facts about Falun Gong to a gentleman, he said, "You should not exhibit the torture methods on the streets. It's not good for children to see." He pointed to several young practitioners and said, "You see, those are children." For a while, I did not know how to reply him.
At that moment, another gentleman who was passing by came over and said, "How come it is not good? They are approved by police, so it is appropriate for children. Children also live in this world and they should also have the right to learn the truth. All of these things are happening around you and you should also be aware of them." The first gentleman said, "No, they are not taking place around me," to which the second person responded, "Then are you living on the earth? Isn't China located on the earth?"
I thanked the second gentleman for helping me explain the situation and I chatted with him a while. It turned out that he came from Israel and is Jewish. He told me that I did not have to explain anything to him for he had a deep understanding of what we were trying to say. When seeing those practitioners who were hung up and beaten, those who were tied on the Tiger Bench and so on, he said in an agitated tone, "It was so horrible!" He said that we should have some western practitioners come and help. I told him that we were shorthanded.
He then stayed and voluntarily helped us. He asked his two friends who came with him to sign the petition. In addition, he said to all the people passing by, "Hi, did you sign the petition? Did you sign it?" He said, "You don't need to pay a penny. You don't even need to write down your address. Your signature could help stop this persecution."
He stood there and kept asking people to sign the petition. He stayed there and did all of this voluntarily for about an hour before he left. When he was leaving, he shook my hand and said, "I hope the persecution will end as soon as possible."
On my way home, I told my daughter and son the story about the gentleman from Israel and asked them what they thought about it. In fact, I wanted to learn their feelings about the torture exhibit. At first, my daughter did not know what to answer. Later, when seeing some magazines and advertisement sold or displayed on the streets, my daughter said, "Those are not appropriate for children to see, but holding the torture exhibit is the right thing to do."

Passersby pay attention to the persecution
(Clearwisdom.net) According a report from the Epoch Times on August 25, 2004, dozens of Falun Gong practitioners held anti-torture exhibitions on August 21 and 22 on 5th Avenue near Central Park in New York City. The exhibitions attracted many passersby to watch. How do Americans view this on-going persecution of Falun Gong in China?
Ms. Marcia Delman is from New York, and she had never heard about the persecution before this exhibition. She said: "Torture is disgusting. It is surprising that such torture can still happen in this modern age. The Chinese government [Jiang group] fears everything, however, it should not fear Falun Gong. It [The persecution of Falun Gong] is totally unreasonable... I just signed a petition (to for call an end of the persecution). I will tell others. We will get the word out, and the Chinese government [Jiang group] will lose face in front of the world community for using such ridiculous torture methods."

The anti-torture exhibitions demonstrate torture methods such as the Tiger Bench, Bamboo Sticks and confinement in a small cage, and vividly re-enact the on-going persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Ms. Ma demonstrated "Confinement in a small cage." The suffering she demonstrated was so touching that many people took the initiative to ask for Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Ms. Ma came to the U.S. 4 years ago to visit her daughter. She found that her daughter, who used to be very weak, became very healthy by practicing Falun Gong. Moreover, her daughter's temper became much better than before. Contrary to the propaganda in China, all Falun Gong practitioners she has met are very nice. Soon after her arrival, therefore, she also started to practice Falun Gong and her high blood pressure and heart disease then disappeared.

"I felt horrible [upon seeing the exhibition]. It is very sad that the whole world is casting a blind eye on the persecution. The only reason is money--trade with China," A middle-aged gentleman who had learned about the persecution several years ago said, "U.S. government should do something to pressure the Chinese government. If the international community used economic sanction, China would for sure stop the persecution."
Next to the exhibition, several practitioners, including a 10-year-old and her mother, were demonstrating Falun Gong exercises.
"So Awful! Terrible!" James Wagner said. Pointing to practitioners who were demonstrating the exercises, he said: "Persecuting such a peaceful and beneficial practice! The Chinese government [Jiang group] just fears anything, and feels everything is a threat to its interests."
It was the first time Justin Jacobs heard about the persecution. He said: "So awful! People just want to do a practice which they feel is good and righteous, and they didn't do anything wrong. There is no reason to persecute them and the persecution is totally wrong."
"Shocked! I feel regret for the persecution," another lady said, "Everyone should be able to practice their beliefs. I can't understand why the [Jiang group persecutes Falun Gong]?"
A practitioner introduced Falun Gong and the persecution to passersby: "Since its first introduction to public in China in 1992, Falun Gong spread quickly across the whole nation and around the world. In just 7 years, more than 100 million Chinese practiced Falun Gong. This number is more than the number of Party members. This incited then Chinese president Jiang Zemin's jealousy. Jiang started to persecute Falun Gong 5 years ago. More than 100 million good citizens have been persecuted; more than 1000 have been persecuted to death."
Many westerners know that communist governments are totalitarian regimes. A lady said that several days ago she read from a news report that 3 Christians had been sentenced to prison terms by Chinese authorities.
James Foote just started to practice Falun Gong several months ago. He was distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying fliers to passersby. His home is very close to Central Park and he had just practiced Falun Gong in the park with other practitioners in the morning. He said: "I believe in Falun Gong. It helps me a lot both physically and spiritually. I want to help people know about the persecution in China because we live on the same Earth and we are all connected."
New Yorker Stan Benet signed the practitioners' petition and said: "Such a brutal persecution doesn't match with this modern age. I showed my support with my signature."

Practitioners hold anti-torture exhibition near a market where there are many Chinese-run businesses
(Clearwisdom.net) On our last day in Athens, I went to a beach with a few practitioners who are part of the European choir. It was an nice day with a brisk breeze and blue sky, and a lot of tourists were on the beach. We rented a parasol and hung a Falun Dafa banner beneath it. Some of us then did meditation, some distributed leaflets and a few went to swim. When I saw two Chinese tourists near the parasol, I immediately walked towards them and offered them a leaflet. They refused rudely and said they were not interested. At this moment, another practitioner offered them a Chinese newspaper, which they accepted and read. After reading only half of the paper, the two said something to each other and put the newspaper down. Upon seeing this, an idea occurred to mind: I could sing a song to them. So I began to sing the song "Coming For You" and the noisy environment became quiet.
When I was singing from the bottom of my heart, "Facing violence and danger, Again and again I come for you I come for you, I come with love for you, precious Chinese people," one of them again picked up the newspaper and read it. Perhaps he was moved by my song. Then I began to sing another song, " Please Lend a Hand of Justice."
The two Chinese tourists turned around finally and smiled at me. Their eyes told me that they knew I was singing for them. In return, I also nodded with smile. I believe that they had learned the truth of Falun Dafa.
My song drew the attention of the tourists around us. We then presented them leaflets and beautiful paper lotus flowers. Many people read the leaflets seriously and children loved the paper flowers very much. A cameraman from a TV station hung a paper lotus flower on his camera. Fifty or sixty paper lotus flowers were quickly distributed.

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 3-4, 2004, the Falun Gong Society from National Central University in Taiwan held a Minghui Parent and Child Summer Camp at the university. Attendees were faculty members, residents of Chongli and other people. More than 40 children registered. For many of them, it was the first time they learned Falun Dafa. The interesting curriculum and practitioners' unselfish contribution allowed parents and children to truly experience the greatness of Falun Dafa.

One parent heard that the summer camp was organized by Falun Gong practitioners, and especially came to Chongli from Taipei to attend. He said that he attended the parent-child camp last year held by Taipei practitioners, and enjoyed it so much that he wanted to attend again. Though the summer camp was targeting primary school students and their parents, many parents of kindergarteners called to ask if their children could attend. More than 50 parents attended the courses.
The contents of the activity included reading Hong Yin (1), making paper lotus flowers, appreciation of music played by the Erhu (traditional Chinese stringed instrument), children's drama performance, Falun Gong exercise instruction, teaching and singing songs composed by Dafa practitioners, teaching dance, story-telling from ancient history, viewing cartoon films and so on.
After listening to Professor Chen's lecture, parents gained a better understanding of the fundamental issue of communication between parents and children. They began to join the children's activities, observing their behavior and needs, and learning to how to educate their children.
Many children told the voluntary staff of the summer camp that they liked Falun Gong practitioners' arrangement of the courses. A child who just learned to write, wrote, "I like it very much."
Before the conclusion of the activities, some parents brought gifts to express their gratitude to the volunteer staff. Practitioners explained to the parents about Falun Dafa's principles of teaching the exercises for free and not accepting gifts. The parents understood and took back the gifts, verbally expressing their appreciation for Falun Gong practitioners' unselfish contribution. Some parents hoped such activities would be held every week.
After the activity, when faculty members who participated in the summer camp came across Falun Gong practitioners who studied at the university, they repeatedly expressed their thanks to the practitioners. Later on, the sponsor received a letter from a mother who participated in the camp. The letter was entitled, "Thanks for your contribution in the summer camp!" She said in the letter that her two daughters greatly enjoyed themselves and wanted to take part in the summer camp again. One of her daughters wanted to buy the book Hong Yin after returning home and once they bought the book, she immediately asked the mother to read it to her. The mother said the summer camp was very meaningful.
As practitioners, we feel the joy that Falun Dafa brings. We also want to allow more people to experience the same happiness. Every time we hold activities, we see the joy of those predestined people who first learn Falun Dafa. When someone has a misunderstanding about Falun Gong, after explaining the facts to them, they instantly sense practitioners' purity and compassion. Lies collapse immediately. Actually, many people who oppose Falun Gong, after learning the truth, begin practicing themselves. When everyone learns about the true situation, nobody will be deceived by the lies from China's slanderous propaganda against Falun Gong, and the persecution will no longer be able to continue.

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Wang Qingzhou, 57 years old, lived in Laigou Village, Xunshan Town in Rongcheng, Weihai City, Shandong Province. He began practicing Falun Gong in 1997 and went to the local government to clarify the truth after the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. He was detained in a custody center and a brainwashing class. In January 2003 he was again arrested and sent to the brainwashing class. Mr. Wang was later sent to a detention center where he was tortured before being released in May 2003 [Chinese lunar calendar]. Mr. Wang Qingzhou passed away three months later. Following are details:
In July 2002, Wang Qingzhou resigned from his job at Xunshan Rubber Factory in Rongcheng. Because he was going to Beijing to appeal for Dafa, he didn't want his work unit to be held responsible and fined because of his appeal for Dafa. He was arrested, sent to a custody center and cuffed behind his back. The guards put a belt between the handcuffs and hung him up on a metal pole. He sweated profusely from the pain but didn't make a sound. Because he refused to give up his beliefs, the guards tortured him more and hung him for seven or eight days, until the handcuffs cut into his wrists and the wounds became severely infected. Before releasing him, the guards later extorted 2,000 Yuan from his poverty-stricken family.
On January 27, 2003, Wang Qingzhou was again arrested and sent to a brainwashing class. Two people there monitored him and followed him everywhere, including the restroom. The guards took turns interrogating him and deprived him of sleep. They cuffed his hands to a chair and tied his legs to that chair. They taped his eyelids so he could not close his eyes to sleep. On the sixth day, the guards and the collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to torture and brainwashing] beat Wang Qingzhou in a separate room. People in other rooms heard Wang Qingzhou's screams.
The next evening he was tied up in the hallway. The weather was cold and he wore only thin clothes. Fifteen days later he jumped from the second floor and escaped. He went to Wendeng City in Weihai, but the police traced his phone call to his family. They arrested him several days later and took him back to the detention center.
We do not know what kind of mistreatment he suffered during this period. In May 2003 he was fined 3,000 Yuan and released. After he returned home, he had constant pain in his abdomen. Three months after his release, in August 2003 [Chinese lunar calendar], he passed away.
This is the third case in which a Dafa practitioner from Rongcheng, Weihai City has died as a result of torture.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Sun Xiuhua, 47, lived in Weijia Village, Helong Town, Nong'an County, Jilin Province. In October 1999, police arrested her when she was on her way to Beijing to appeal for the rights of Falun Gong with another practitioner from her home village. They took her to the Nong'an Detention Center where she was illegally detained for 22 days. They released her only after extorting more than 6,000 Yuan (1) in fines. In January 2000, several policemen from the local police station suddenly intruded into Ms. Sun's house and illegally abducted her while she was reading Falun Gong books. Again, they sent her to the Nong'an Detention Center and released her after forcing her to pay another 6,000 Yuan in fines. Due to the persecution of her body, the enormous pressure on her mind, and the large amount of fines she was forced to pay, Ms. Sun started to suffer both physically and mentally, and her health deteriorated day by day. Tragically, she died on June 16, 2004.

(Clearwisdom.net) Sources say that a so-called "rejecting cult" program, which is in fact a brainwashing program for young people from elementary and high schools in the Dongshan District, began operations on July 30, 2004. The classes were organized by the "China Anti-cult Association" (CACA), the Dongshan District "610 Office," the Dongshan District Education Department, and the Dongshan District Justice Department. Being the first of its kind, the camp was organized by Guangdong Province authorities to spread propaganda and instill hatred toward Falun Gong among those youngsters. The plan is to indoctrinate close to 70,000 young people in Dongshan District every year by making them attend the camp.
The camp is located at the Zhenshan scenic area in Sihui City, Guangdong Province. It is 80 km from Guangzhou, and occupies 370 acres. It was originally built for the teaching of fundamental skills in industry, agriculture, and military to students from elementary school through high school. The Dongshan District Education Department funded the project with a large amount of capital. Construction began in August 1999 and the site has been in operation since August 2000.
Sources also say that the targeting of children with anti-Falun Gong propaganda from elementary through high school began in July 2004. It is harming youngsters and will continue to do so well into the future.
We urge fellow practitioners to work together and stop this operation, which causes great harm to these young people.

(Clearwisdom.net) The Jiang regime has been hyping itself on the international stage as governing the country under the rule of law. However, the persecution of Mr. Fu Guosheng's family aptly demonstrates that the Chinese people have long been deprived of the dignity of the law, and that the law has been effectively reduced to little more than a weapon with which the Jiang group finds it convenient to beat people.
Fu Guosheng, sixty years of age, is a chief examiner in the Vice Division of the Changzhi City Intermediate Court. Since he steadfastly persisted in practicing Falun Dafa, he was detained for one month in 2000, then demoted and stripped of his Party membership.
Mr. Fu's wife Jia Yuzheng, fifty-eight years of age, is employed by the Changzhi Branch of the Construction Bank of China. She was sentenced to three years in prison because she went to Beijing to appeal to the central government to clarify the truth of Falun Dafa. Mr. Fu's thirty-two-year-old daughter, Fu Jiangyan, is a Chinese language teacher at Changzhi Normal College, who was also sentenced to three years in prison for practicing Falun Dafa. Mr. Fu's eldest son, Fu Jiangying, is a very talented and well-educated man, who was arrested under Jiang's direct but secret command, rigorously enforced after the persecution began on July 20,1999. Fu Jiangying is currently under house arrest in Beijing. Mr. Fu's second son, Fu Zhongyi, is a twenty-nine-year-old graduate of the renowned Renming University. In August 2002, he was sentenced to three years in Jingzhong Prison, Shanxi Province, where he is enduring torture.
In early 2001, mother and daughter, Jia Yuzheng and Fu Jiangyan, were sent to the Yuci City Female Prison, in Shanxi Province, where they were inhumanly tortured. The policemen there tried every possible means to force them to give up their belief in Falun Dafa. They bullied and lured them with promise of personal gain, using the proverbial "carrot and stick" approach, deceived them with lies, jeered at and humiliated them, forbade them to walk or speak, and ordered inmates who were drug addicts and prostitutes to monitor them in shifts, in order to deprive them of sleep. Other prisoners also frequently abused Ms. Jia and Ms. Fu. After a long period of enduring such tortures, they were finally released from prison in 2003, but they were still monitored and tracked by agents of the "610 Office" and the police department. Jia Yuzheng pleaded with her work unit to reinstate her in her former employment, but she was ignored, making it financially very difficult for the family to survive. Her daughter, Fu Jiangyan, was also kept under surveillance following her release. She was ordered back to work but without pay. Her colleagues were afraid to speak up for her for fear of jeopardizing their own jobs.
Therefore, Mr. Fu Guosheng decided to use a lawsuit to resist the persecution and to safeguard, for his family and himself, their basic human rights including the right to belief. However, Fu Guosheng and his wife, Jia Yuzheng, were abducted and sentenced sometime between May and June of 2004. The location of their current detainment is unknown, nor is it known whether they are dead or alive. In addition, their daughter, Fu Jiangyan, suddenly disappeared without leaving any information with anyone.

(Clearwisdom.net) Since the end of July 2004, police in the Youjiang District have been arbitrarily and violently arresting Dafa practitioners. It was reported that practitioners Wu Jilin, Mr. and Mrs. Wang Zhen, Liao Chunxing, Mr. and Mrs. Long Aiqiao, and Ms. Luo Cailuan have been arrested. Reportedly, police have been interrogating the practitioners day and night, attempting to extract information from them. They use contemptible measures such as depriving practitioners of sleep. They try in vain to make practitioners become delirious and mentally traumatized, so as to find out the origin of materials that clarify the truth about Falun Dafa.
Currently, in the homes of Wu Jilin, Mr. and Mrs. Wang Zhen, Liao Chunxing, and Mr. and Mrs. Long Aiqiao, the old and the young are left unattended. These kinds of infractions by the Youjiang police have caused serious harm to both the minds and bodies of the Dafa practitioners and their family members. I would like to call to the attention of the world's kindhearted people the insecurity of Dafa practitioners' lives in Baise City.
Youjiang police have been persistently and illegally committing crimes while persecuting Dafa practitioners. They shined powerful lights into the eyes of practitioner Wei Binglian. They would not let him shut his eyes or allow him to sleep as they tried to extract information from him. This caused Wei's eyes to be damaged, and they now frequently tear up. After the inquisition by torture, Wei Binglian was illegally sentenced to five years in the Litang Prison in Guangxi. Dafa practitioner Pang Shouguang was continuously interrogated for ten days and nights. He became mentally traumatized, and was then sentenced to eight years in the Litang prison. Ms. Liang Changying was also continuously interrogated for ten days and nights. During that time, she was also threatened, and her clothes were ripped off of her. Later, she was sentenced to five years in the Guangxi Female Prison.

(Clearwisdom.net) The following facts document the persecution experienced by some practitioners detained in Baoding Forced Labor Camp between May 10 and July 20, 2004.
Practitioner Jing Qi is from Beipang Village, Caohe Town, Xushui County, Hebei Province. With the temperature hitting 30 degrees Celsius (86oF), guard Lu Zhigang tied Jing up in a bed and covered him with a heavy quilt for three days without untying him. During this time, Song Yahe and Liu Jijin shocked Jing's entire body with electric batons.
Practitioner Liu Xinjun is from Guolikou Village, Anxin County, Hebei Province. On the afternoon of May 10, he was dragged to the fourth floor, where he was forced to undergo brainwashing. Guards Liu Qingyong, Song Yahe, and Liu Yue shocked his body with electric batons.
Practitioner Liu Hui lives in Youdian Residential Area of Gaokai District, Baoding City. Liu Qingyong, Song Yahe, and Liu Jiji shocked his hands and feet simultaneously with three electric batons.
Practitioner Liu Wen is from Dongjie Village, Fangshan District, Beijing. He was tied in a chair and shocked simultaneously with two electric batons for 30 minutes. He was also tied to a bed and used as a punching bag for boxing exercises. Song Yahe and Yang Hongbin were the guards who tortured Liu. At present, Liu is still being detained in solitary confinement.
Practitioner Gu Zhanhui is from Beigebao Village, Anguo City, Hebei Province. He was shocked all over his body with electric batons.
Practitioner Gao Changqiu is from Qijiazuo Village, Tang County, Hebei Province. He held a hunger strike to protest his illegal detention. Even though he became very emaciated, he was still shocked with electric batons.
Practitioner Hu Changqing is from Heshunli, Laiyuan County, Hebei Province. He held a hunger strike for 32 days, during which time the guards pricked him with needles.
Practitioner Bian Liangjing is from Xiliuchun Village, Dongliuchun Township, Dingzhou City, Hebei Province. Liu Qingyong shocked him with electric batons.
Practitioner Wang Deqian is from Longmen Village, Laishui County, Hebei Province. On the morning of June 10, Liu Lijie shocked him with electric batons. His screams could be heard even on the exercise ground.
Practitioner Chen Fulu lives on Chaoyang Road, Baoding City. During the brainwashing session, Liu Lijie shocked him with electric batons. Liu even shoved the electric baton into Chen's mouth to shock him.
Practitioner Qian Jinsong lives in Rm. 102, Jindi Road, Gaokai District, Baoding City. Wang Lei shocked him with electric batons.
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Xie Faying is in her 40s and is from Caohai Village of Weining County. She previously was illegally detained twice because of her persistence in cultivating Falun Dafa. In June 2003, she was arrested at midnight by the county "610 Office," who didn't follow any legal procedures, and sent her to the Women's Labor Camp of Guizhou. Her 80-year-old mother and two pre-school-aged children were left at home without anyone to care for them, and now lead a very hard life.
Mr. Geng Guanghe is about 40 years old, and was a worker at a branch of the People's Bank of China in Weining County. He was forced by his work unit to leave his home because he refused to give up his cultivation in Falun Dafa. Several months later he was abducted by his work unit and sent to a brainwashing class held by the branch bank in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Later he was secretly sent to another place and no information about him has been unavailable since that time. The head of his work unit, who participated in the persecution, received karmic retribution for his evildoing when he died of a strange disease at the early age of 40.
Ms. Geng Guangxiang, who is in her 50s, was the elder sister of Mr. Geng Guanghe and worked in the Industrial and Commercial Bureau of Weining County. She suffered from many diseases before beginning Falun Dafa practice. After she obtained and cultivated Falun Dafa she quickly recovered. One day she was reported to police while she was speaking to others about the mental and physical benefits she experienced from Falun Dafa practice. For this she was sentenced to prison for 7 years.
Ms. Luo Yufang is in her 30s, and was a resident of Caohai Village in Weining County. In 2002 she was reported to police and arrested while on her way to the countryside to do truth-clarification work. On the way back to the county, she continuously and intensely sent forth righteous thoughts. As a result, her handcuffs unlocked themselves and she successfully escaped using her righteous thoughts. She was forced to become homeless from then on to avoid further persecution.
Ms. Luo Cuiqing is in her 50s, and was a worker at the Bureau of Irrigation Works of Weining County. She was arrested during 2003 in Hezhang County while she was visiting the home of her son. No information about her has been available since her arrest.
Ms. Shao Manqiu is in her 40s, and was a resident of the Chenguan District of Weining County. She was illegally held in the local detention center for nine months by the county's "610 Office" officials because she cultivated in Falun Dafa. After she was released she went to the countryside to do business as an escape from further police persecution. Several months later, in June 2003, she was once again secretly arrested by the county "610 Office" officials and sent to the Women's Forced Labor Camp of Guizhou Province for persecution.
Mr. Han Jiangui is close to age 60, and is from Caohai Village of Weining County. He was arrested by police on July 13, 2004 when he was at home. On the same day, police arrested another fellow practitioner, and the details of his arrest will be investigated.
In Weining County, Guizhou Province, more than ten Dafa practitioners have been illegally detained as criminals, and six have been sentenced to forced labor camps and imprisonment for their practice of Falun Gong since Jiang's regime began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999.

Mr. Koehler, Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany, asked me to thank you for your letter, dated July 12th 2004. We appreciate you keeping us abreast concerning the Falun Gong adherents' situation in China, including the most recent South Africa event. The Federal President requested that I reply to your letter. The Federal President receives daily a large volume of correspondence from many sources. Therefore, we sincerely hope that you forgive us for responding on his behalf.
The Federal President has a high regard and deep concerns regarding human rights. This is especially true concerning such matters in China. Our predecessors have addressed human rights during all the meetings with former President Jiang Zemin and former Vice President Hu Jintao. Last year, D. Johannes Rau gave a speech on human rights at the University of Nanjing. We assume that you are aware of this event. A few weeks ago, Foreign Affairs Minister Fischer put great emphasis on adhering to human rights during his discussion with his Chinese counterparts.
We join you in the hope for human rights improvements in China. Such improvement is important to China's interests, because without the rule of law and safeguarding of citizens, especially concerning human rights, we do not believe that a modern society in China can be established.
We will assure you that the Federal President will be cognizant of your concerns before any future discussions with Chinese incumbents.

(Clearwisdom.net) Last week in Jilin Province, family members of Falun Dafa practitioners sued Jilin Prison for maltreatment of Dafa practitioners. They brought an accusation to several departments of the Provincial Procurator's Office, related to the case of a practitioner who was confined in a solitary compartment for three years and not allowed visits from family members. After investigation by the procurator's office, the educational cadre and a number of the prison guards in Jilin Prison were replaced.
Recently, the family members went to Jilin Prison again, and the attitude of the new educational cadre and prison guards was noticeably better. The educational cadre said, "The Dafa practitioners are too frail right now. You can visit them next month." The family members replied, "You want us to see them after they recover somewhat from the abuse suffered in prison, so that we will not have any evidence with which to accuse you. Is that it?" The educational cadre didn't answer.
Currently, the family members of Dafa practitioners are in the process of suing for the release of the practitioners and for due compensation.
(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of August 8, 2004, six policemen from the Xishui County Police Department's First Precinct stormed into the home of Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Yao Wanglai, in Jiuping Village, Zhudian Township, Xishui County, intending to arrest him.
Mr. Yao Wanglai resisted the persecution with his strong righteous thoughts and clarified the truth to them but the six policemen would not listen to him. Without any legal procedure, they tried to forcibly abduct Mr. Yao. Such a lawless action irritated Mr. Yao's family, and his two young brothers, with strong arguments based on reason, insisted that the police did not have the legal right to take Mr. Yao away. At that point, the police resorted to violence, and the sounds of a noisy scuffle shattered the peace of the entire village.
The news traveled like lightning throughout the village. Soon, one villager after another came running from field and home to Mr. Yao's house to explain to the police that Mr. Yao Wanglai was the best person in their village; that he was honest and kindhearted, observed discipline and always obeyed the law. Even the head of the village government stood up to the police and vouched for Mr. Yao's character as a rare and good person. Not only did the police ignore all the testimonials, they became increasingly aggressive toward the villagers.
By this time, about a hundred villagers had gathered at Mr. Yao's home. His seventy-six-year-old mother had become so indignant and frightened by the police violence that she fainted on the spot. The huge crowd became highly agitated, loudly condemning the lawless violence of the six officers and shouting, "Don't allow them to take him away! Those who practice Falun Gong are all good people!"
The strong righteous field and the villagers' insistence upon justice caused the police to leave Mr. Yao's home in a panic. Such a brave and just action on the part of the Jiuping Villagers sent shock waves throughout the entire county.
On the following morning, August 9, the police again came to Mr. Yao's home to take him away, but by that time, Mr. Yao Wanglai had already left home.

The lady thought the person who lost the bag must be very anxious, so she put off the task she had planned to do, and went to the police station immediately to hand it in. The police counted over 20,000 yuan (1) in the bag.
Later, when the person who lost the bag came to claim it, he was very grateful. He offered the practitioner 600 yuan of the money to show his appreciation. The practitioner said, "No, I don't need you to thank me. Please remember that I am a Falun Gong practitioner and that Falun Dafa is good."
Witnessing this, the police station director said with emotion, "The higher-ups order us to arrest Falun Gong practitioners whenever we see them. But how can I arrest her? She's such a noble person!"

May 14, 1997 has become an unforgettable day for Falun Dafa practitioners in our area. It was the 5th anniversary of Teacher's introduction of Falun Dafa to the public, and our honorable Teacher's 46th birthday. We arranged a wonderful event to commemorate the occasion, the Changchun Falun Dafa Calligraphy and Photo Exhibition to be held in Teacher's hometown, in the well-known Nanling Gymnasium in Changchun. I will recount several unforgettable memories from our visit to the exhibition.
On Teacher's birthday, the spring rain fell from morning to noon, everything on earth glowed, we saw vitality in everything, the grasses and fresh flowers were fragrant. For a few days before the event, a sandstorm had blocked out the sun. There had been a prolonged drought in China's northeast. The wheat crop had withered and all the grasses and trees were drooping due to lack of moisture.
Practitioners from my area got up before dawn and took a bus from north Liaoning to Changchun. The driver got lost. We were extremely anxious, so the assistant asked the group to silently ask for Teacher's help. A miracle suddenly occurred. A shining Falun appeared in front of the vehicle and directed us to the Gymnasium, and then disappeared.
Practitioners from all over China, Hong Kong and Taiwan were lining up in four lines, waiting to enter the exhibition hall. It was the third day of the exhibition. The exhibition was held only for ten days and it could hold more than 10,000 visitors daily.
We entered the main hall with the others. The glorious Dafa music immediately dissolved the worries of the human world. It was as if we escaped from the human society that strives for fame and self-interest. Teacher's portrait, more than two meters high, was placed on the front wall of the hall. Colorful fresh flowers were placed in front of the portrait, with pine and cypress branches in the background. We stood in front of Teacher's portrait and took a photo (the photo was lost later, after my home had been searched many times).
The eight exhibition rooms could hold more than 10,000 people.
The first room was spacious and stately. The entire room was designed with the theme, "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." Multicolored silk banners were hung on all four walls. Practitioners had embroidered all the banners with Teacher's poetry and beautiful words. This was done to sing praise to Teacher for teaching the Fa to save sentient beings.
Several exhibition rooms held pictures that showed calligraphy, drawings, signboards, handicrafts, many touching pictures, computer designs and so on. There were many styles on display. All of them reflected practitioners' pure minds and deep respect for the Fa. Several drawings were marvelous descriptions of what Dafa practitioners saw with their Celestial Eyes. One drawing showed beautiful and magnificent Chinese style buildings and pavilions in other dimension. This righteous and mysterious scenery allowed people to think as if they just stepped into fairyland.
Many people sat in meditation. We saw large drawings of Teacher's law body (1) and gongshen (2) as they manifest in other dimensions. They were all taller than a person's height. These were seen by Dafa practitioners with their Celestial Eye and then reproduced by computer. The energy field there was the strongest. Many people in the exhibition room saw Teacher's law body, and strings of Falun sent out by Teacher from the portrait, rectifying practitioner's bodies. Many supernatural stories occurred in there. One person with a serious leg injury had arrived on crutches. He unconsciously threw away the crutches when leaving and could walk freely.
The picture-and-story book exhibition room made people forget to leave and everyone urged practitioners to practice diligently. Some were stories of practitioners passing tests, some expressed cultivation experiences and others described the process of abandoning unhealthy habits after practicing "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." There also were those that showed triumphing over interference and one's demon-nature.
Practitioners from our area displayed a drawing called, "Ladder to Heaven." This drawing calls to people to ponder deeply, and could be called thought provoking. In the drawing, a ladder reaches beyond the three realms. A cultivator is climbing from the first to the next levels. We can see his body changing color at each level, in the order of red, orange, yellow, green, sky-blue, blue, purple, to colorless, until he transcended the three realms. This drawing suggests to the viewer that the cultivation process is as difficult as ascending to heaven. It also forecasts the magnificence of the practice's future, urges people to strive forward, and be diligent unerringly.
Another drawing showed a cultivator sighing in front of a huge mountain. The mountain reached to the sky and was really difficult to climb. Suddenly, Teacher appeared and cut the mountain in half. But, no matter how teacher tried to ease the passage, the cultivator still couldn't get across. Then Teacher divided half the mountain into various tribulations, which he would have to pass on the cultivation path. Finally, the disciple passed tests one by one, and continued diligently on his cultivation path. It provoked deep thoughts, enlightening suggestions and a heartfelt thank you for our honorable Teacher.
There was another drawing named "Attachments." It clearly described the various attachments that the cultivator needs to abandon. It received high mention during the exhibition, and recognition from fellow practitioners.
The last exhibition room was prepared for practitioners to do on site calligraphy and painting. One could find pens, ink and paints, needed for such activities. Several famous calligraphers were there to write "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and quotes from Teacher's articles for those attending. Afterwards, I heard these respected elderly men were the organizers of the exhibition.
There was a visitors' book. Many practitioners wrote their deepest and heartfelt feelings in the book, thanking Teacher for his kindness and salvation of humankind! Practitioners in Changchun worked round the clock for seven days to prepare for the exhibition. They recounted the miracles that happened during that period. It was said that one day late at night, practitioners felt hungry. What did they find? Much food and drinks placed on the side. After finishing the food, they asked each other if anyone knew where the food had come from, but nobody knew. It was midnight and no one had left the area. Had the food come down from heaven? Finally they guessed that the nearby shop owner (a non-practitioner) had delivered the food. They wanted to pay him for the food, but the shop owner said, "This food was given to you by your Teacher." No one could ever explain this mysterious appearance of the food.
During the ten-day exhibition, there were visitors who began to practice Falun Gong immediately. One after the other established a connection with Dafa. Practitioners who were not diligent began to strive forward. Some had earlier been suspicious about the principles of Falun Gong but now became firm in the practice. The visitors were all inspired to different degrees. It built a stable foundation for anti-persecution and truth-clarification today. Just like Teacher said in the article "Seeking Discipleship with Teacher": "Dafa is being spread far and wide. Those who hear about it are looking for it. Those who have obtained it are delighted with it. The number of cultivators is increasing daily and becoming countless."
We sincerely hope that fellow practitioners who have fallen will quickly get up and make the best use of the time left to us.

If there were more tolerance in the human world, there would be fewer tragedies. If there were more tolerance among practitioners, more losses could be avoided. If practitioners cannot tolerate others, then it is meaningless to talk about compassion. I remember reading an article on Minghui.net, about two practitioners who were forced into homelessness together and later had conflicts with each other over the issue of whether or not to eat green onions. In the end they had to part company. If they could have had more tolerance, such an incident might not have happened.
Recently, an incident happened that helped me see the importance of tolerance. Practitioners A and B (a man and a woman who were not married) lived together, developed an emotional relationship and behaved inappropriately as practitioners. But both of them realized that they were wrong and made up for it in a timely manner. At that time, Master published his lecture "Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference," in which He pointed out,
"Let me put it this way, what I said just now is for all of those who have done things that are undeserving of the status of Dafa disciples. You'd better tell people about those things openly. That way, many things of yours will be eliminated, and at the same time it will make you really strengthen your resolve [to correct your behavior]."
Practitioner A followed Master Li's words and told his local practitioners about his affair. Unexpectedly, it was like a stone generating a thousand ripples. Most practitioners' responses included accusations, spitefulness, complaints and repulsion and only a few practitioners said that as long as these two practitioners realized what they had done was wrong and tried to make up for it as soon as possible, they could still do well in the future. Practitioner A had a difficult time with regret and the complaints from fellow practitioners, and in the end he felt there was too much pressure and left his hometown. Later when he saw me again, he told me about what had happened. He asked me, "Was it wrong for me to tell them?" Even everyday people have a saying that those who realize their mistake and correct it are good people. Why couldn't these practitioners have given this practitioner a chance to correct his mistake?
There were also many practitioners who didn't care about rescuing their fellow practitioners who had been arrested. Instead, they talked about their many shortcomings and attachments, and that they didn't do well in this or that aspect, etc. They didn't have tolerance and compassion.
We should have tolerance, whether it is among practitioners or between practitioners and everyday people. It is just like when you see a person about to fall into a river: will you pull him back or push him one step further. We should discard our human notions and look at questions from the perspective of Dafa. Don't dwell on others' past misconduct, but instead give them a chance to correct their mistakes. This also give us an opportunity to develop our tolerance and compassion.

1. Taking Opportunities to Spread Dafa to American Children in the School Where I Work
I am a teacher at an American public school. At first I worked as a substitute teacher and this provided me opportunities to work with children of different races and age groups. Typical American children are very energized, curious and active, which makes it hard to keep them in order. It was my biggest wish for these American children to learn Dafa. I was not a very experienced teacher at that time, and it was quite a challenge for me to spread Dafa to the children.
Not too long after I started working, an art teacher went on maternity leave. I was assigned to teach all of the school's art classes. As a matter of fact, I am not very good at art. However, I knew it was a great opportunity for me to spread Dafa to those children. I prepared for the classes very carefully, and overcame my nervousness and fear in the classroom. Soon, I could handle the art classes easily, and received recognition from the school for my good work.
In order to teach the students about Dafa, I started "Chinese Culture Month" activities in my art classes. During the first week, I introduced students to China's 5000 years of glorious history and rich culture. When talking about Beijing, I told them about Tiananmen Square. In the following week, I started talking about Dafa to the students. I printed the characters "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance" in both Chinese and English. I had the lower grade students color them, and higher grade students try to copy the characters in addition to coloring them. The children were very interested in learning how to write Chinese characters, so I taught them how to write "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance" stroke by stroke on the blackboard. I also taught them how to pronounce the Chinese words. The children learned the writing and pronunciation of the Pudu and Jishi music, and the class was in good order. To my surprise, even though it was the first time for most children, their Chinese handwriting was very nice. Later, I played the 12-minute video "Falun Dafa in New Jersey". I also taught them the song "Falun Dafa is good". In the last week, I taught them to read the Hongyin poems by Teacher, short poems for lower grades and the whole book for higher grades. The students would repeat each sentence after me. This way, I brought the greatness of Dafa to about 400 American children in four grades within several weeks.
One time in class the children were sitting on the floor, and I noticed some children sat very well with their legs crossed. A thought came to my mind, "I should try to teach them the sitting exercise." The children were making lot of noise at that time and another teacher kept yelling, "Be quiet!" "Stop talking!", yet the classroom was not quiet. The phone rang and the other teacher went to answer the phone. I told the children I wanted to teach them Falun Gong and asked them to follow my instruction. At first I tried to differentiate the different hand gestures for boys and girls. Soon I realized it was not appropriate in that circumstance. So I started doing the hand movements myself and asked the children to follow me. The children paid attention and followed me. Several children even sat with their legs crossed very nicely. I kept encouraging them: "Very good, keep going." The other teacher was surprised: "Great, they all settled down. They must have liked to listening to you, why don't you keep practicing with them. I will be back soon." The noisy classroom became very quiet, and I knew that it was the power of Dafa and Master.
After that day, I started thinking that all the children knew about Dafa and listened to the music, so it would be great if I could start teaching them the exercises. One day, the school notified me that the gym teacher was sick, and I had to teach gym classes. "What am I going to teach?" I asked. The response I got was, "It is your decision, you can teach them whatever you want." I realized that my wish had come true again. I prepared the 30 minute exercise music and pictures of children practicing, along with my little tape player. The next day, in five classes, I taught about 100 children the five exercises. My experience was that children are different from adults. They could not keep the same position for a long time, and the position might not be accurate. But they remember this is Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, and there are more than 100 million people around the world practicing it. Some other teachers also joined the children to learn the exercises.
Maybe it is because I am the only Chinese person in the school that all of the children know me. I do not teach the art class any more, but lots of children still call me art teacher, and some call me Ms. Chinese. A little girl says to me clearly in Chinese "Master, Falun Dafa" every time she sees me, she is so lovely.
American children also need to learn about Dafa. It is possible to make Dafa part of the mainstream of our society. As long as we have the sincere wish, Master will give us the opportunities. My process of spreading Dafa at school in the past several years is also a process to cultivate myself. The children were mirrors for me and I could see my shortcomings from their reactions. When I had the attachment of fear and could not relax in the classroom, the results would not be good. Sometimes when I ran into children with bad tempers who did not follow instructions, I might not be able to control my anger. I even punished them by making them copy down the classroom rules when I was angry. However, when I could keep a calm heart and clear mind, the children would behave very well. The power of Dafa and the Benevolence of Master helped me to change the children's behavior dramatically. The school recognized my achievement. This year the headmaster talked to me in person and encouraged me to teach Falun Gong to other teachers. Lots of teachers learned the exercises and bought Dafa books. To help in the effort of rescuing Charles Li, dozens of teachers, including the deputy headmaster, signed the petition requesting the Chinese government stop the brutal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners.
2. My Experience of Participating in Minghui School Work
Before coming to the U.S., I worked for the Chinese Custom Bureau for ten years. At that time, although I had a good job and good life, I seldom felt satisfied. I actually considered myself to be quite unfortunate. After coming to the U. S., the pressure of work and learning once made me feel that I was the unluckiest person in the world. After I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997, through constantly cultivating in Dafa, my thinking went through a huge change. In the past I only liked pretty and smart children. When I encountered children who were disobedient, I felt impatient from the bottom of my heart and I wanted to stay as far away from them as possible. Now, although I don't have my own children, I treat all children like they were my own. I cherish this cultivation path that Teacher has arranged for me. I feel so lucky that I can be with pure and innocent children. Therefore, last year I talked to a local assistant and volunteered to try working in the Minghui School. After cultivating in the Minghui School for the past year, I have been greatly tempered and also improved my character.
Last May, when I announced the opening of the Minghui School, I met with approval from the majority of practitioners. Nevertheless, when I really started putting it into actual practice, it was not as easy as I thought. At the beginning we held classes at my home. I remembered the first time, many children and their parents came over, and their reactions were good after they left. Afterwards, because we had many different activities, some practitioners stopped sending their children over to the Minghui School. Some practitioners thought that we had so many Dafa projects and so many people waiting in China to be saved. "Our children already practice Falun Dafa, is it necessary to send them to the Minghui School?" With regard to this, my understanding is that at present the Minghui School is a rare environment created for young practitioners to get together to study the Fa and practice the exercises. Although young practitioners have predestined relationships, they are after all still children who like to play and not as aware of their actions. Consequently, if their parents are busy, their cultivation will slack off. It is just like how Master said that an environment for group Fa-study and exercise practice is important to us. In the same sense, it is even more so for children. Master points out in the article "Environment:"
"This is because all those whom you come into contact with in society are everyday people. What is more, they are everyday people who have undergone a rapid decline in human morality. In this big dye vat, people can only drift along with the current." (Essentials for Further Advancement)
What children come in contact with is the human world. They quickly accept things and are also quickly contaminated with bad habits. Therefore, an environment for group Fa-study and exercise practice is definitely necessary for them. At present, many practitioners have indeed neglected their own children's education because they have been busy with Dafa projects. Some practitioners probably think that their children have already practiced Falun Gong, and this is something that doesn't need a lot of attention. Actually, some young practitioners started practicing Falun Dafa early, they have seen Master's nine-day lectures and have read through the book Zhuan Falun, and they also have participated in many Fa conferences and activities, yet their conduct does not reflect that they are young Falun Dafa practitioners. Since I had already noticed this problem and being a person in charge of the school, I must be responsible for these children and be responsible for Dafa. I quietly made up my mind, even if there was only one kid, I would still persist in holding classes.
At the end of last year, the person in charge of the New York Minghui School had a new baby, so another practitioner and I covered the work for the two Minghui Schools. Whenever we had joint classes, my husband would drive me and several kids in the New Jersey area to attend classes held at Columbia University in New York.
Next I would like to introduce to you the four sessions of summer camp we conducted in the New Jersey and New York Minghui Schools for two consecutive years. Each summer camp only lasted for four days, yet the effect we got was beyond our imagination. It greatly inspired us. We are also more confident with the future development of the Minghui School.
The first year, fifteen children participated in our summer camp. The number of children increased to twenty-seven in the second summer camp and this year we had forty children participating in our summer camp. Since we had so many children we had to divide them into two sessions. They were kids from six to sixteen years old. We persisted in spending six to seven hours studying the Fa, practicing the exercises and sending righteous thoughts together as a group. We also emphasized teaching children to conduct themselves well by following the guiding principles of the Fa in their daily lives. We set the three things that Master asked us to do as our goal. We also paid attention to helping the children develop the sense of a whole body.
A. Fully Utilizing This Environment and Intensifying Group Fa-Study
I remember last year in the 2nd summer camp when we did group Fa-study. At the beginning it was somewhat difficult. For one thing, it was the first time some of the children listened to the Fa-teaching, so it was hard for them to keep still for a long time. Another problem was that the small children would move around or keep talking, and they could not sit down at all. As a result, the group as a whole had a hard time quieting down. With regard to this, first we calmed our minds, but we did not force all the children to immediately sit still. For those children who were able to listen carefully to the Fa-teaching, we encouraged them with our smiles; for those who could not quiet down, we did not complain to them or lose patience with them. We occasionally pulled them over to our sides and signaled them to sit down. I discovered that when we let go of the attachment of making the children study the Fa, when we were able to first remain unaffected in that environment and were able to meet the standard, the power of the Fa was magnificent. First of all, the big children were no longer affected by the small children and they started focusing on listening to the Fa-teaching. Then, the small children also gradually quieted down. They stopped walking around and started sitting down, and eventually they quietly listened to the Fa-teaching along with everyone. The same thing happened in the following sessions of summer camp.
Indeed, for one or two dozen children of different ages and different areas to be able to gather together and sit quietly for a long time to study the Fa--it is hard for ordinary people to imagine this. Only in a school like this can such an amazing yet real scenario occur. Here, we would like to express our gratitude to Master's watching over us. Thank you, our respected Master.
B. Stressing Genuine Cultivation; Constantly Referring to the Fa to Guide Children to Solve Specific Problems
Whenever there was problem, we immediately organized the children for discussion and referred to Fa-principles to help them solve specific problems. For example, once three children fought over a toy and would not give in to each other. One girl felt so bad that she started to cry. The rest of the children made various comments on the side and expressed their different takes on the situation. After finding out about it, I first asked the three children to tell the truth and to each tell us what really happened. Then I tried to inspire the children's compassionate thoughts and told them that they should learn to share and think of others first. Whenever there was conflict, we hoped that they could be tolerant and generous. I also stressed Master's teaching regarding "looking inward" in "Lecture at the Western United States Fa Conference":
" When two people have a conflict both should look for the causes within themselves, "What problem do I have here?" Each should search for his own problem. If a third person witnesses the conflict between the two, I would say that it's not accidental for this third person to see it, and he should also think it over: "'Why did I see their conflict? Is it because I still have some shortcomings?'"
After listening to the Fa-teaching, the children all calmed down. The three children who thought they were right also lowered their heads and said one after another, "It was me that was wrong. If I had not insisted on..." Other children around them also remembered similar things that had happened before and realized that they forgot to act like cultivators, so they were all looking outward. After coming to the understanding that we should think of each other first, the children very quickly made up and happily played together again. Afterwards, similar incidents never happened again.
In addition, one thing that we should not neglect when running the Minghui School is communicating with students' parents on a long-term basis. It is also important to get the students' parents' cooperation. After being with children night and day for four days, I had a pretty good understanding of the children. Giving parents feedback on their children's existing problems is my responsibility and is also a way to eliminate the attachment to affection in my cultivation. I felt that as long as I was doing it for the good of the children but not with a criticizing or complaining attitude, parents should be able to accept it. Because I stressed communicating with parents, through exchanging information on their children's problems, I established a common understanding with the parents. This was also a rare cultivation process for practitioners and me. This year, practitioners in Philadelphia and Connecticut also started sending their children over to our school. One practitioner spent four hours every day driving her children back and forth.
One thing worth mentioning is that this year two non-practitioner parents also sent their children to our summer camp. After practicing Falun Dafa, their children went through dramatic changes. Their parents were greatly inspired and shocked by the children's improvement. After the summer camp was over, the parents accompanied the two children to again attend our Minghui School's classes. Another example is a practitioner couple with their two children. Before the summer camp, they did not practice Falun Dafa, nor did the children speak Chinese. After attending the summer camp, the two children really started practicing Falun Dafa and they changed dramatically. Within only a short period of four days, they were able to remember and recite by heart seven or eight poems. This was a great inspiration to their parents' cultivation. Ever since then, the couple took the initiative to offer great help for the summer camp's meals and lodging.
After working for the Minghui School, I felt deeply that this environment not only was good for children's cultivation, it was also a good opportunity for improving myself in cultivation. We are not just doing a simple matter of leading a group of children to study the Fa and practice the exercises. In ordinary people's schools, there's only the relationship of teaching and learning--however, we have an even greater responsibility. I often feel an invisible pressure that comes from the verification of my Fa-study, because our conduct will directly affect our children's conduct. Our own cultivation state is a silent form of impact to our children. When our minds reach the standard they are supposed to reach, the energy field around us will be peaceful and what we say will have power, and our children will listen to us. Otherwise, simply lecturing them or giving them orders will be in vain.
Consequently, our own genuine cultivation should be our first priority. Dafa encompasses everything, and Master's Fa can solve all problems. Therefore, as long as we study the Fa more in our daily life, keep the Fa in our minds and we ourselves first have a deeper understanding of Dafa, then, whenever different problems arise, we'll be able to follow the Fa-principles properly. Then based on children's characteristics, we'll be able to reason with them or tell them stories, in order to help solve and handle these problems. Children are like an empty piece of paper, they don't have adults' notions and complicated thoughts, and once they understand Fa-principles, they are like what Master said in "Lecture at the First Conference in North America:" "If they practice cultivation they can proceed really fast. They don't have any of the attachments developed later on in life."
Master said in "Lecture at the First Conference in North America:" "I like to watch children very much because their thoughts, minds, and bodies are so pure." It is my honor to be able to practice cultivation with innocent and pure children. Here, I would like to express my gratitude to our respected Master for arranging this cultivation path for me. I believe that with Master and Dafa by our side, as long as we offer our love and patience, make concerted efforts and fully display Dafa practitioners' united strength, we'll be able to make the Minghui School a good school. We will also help our lovely children to fully and truly display Falun Dafa practitioners' strength and power along the Fa-rectification journey.

My daughter caught pneumonia again. I knew that the old forces and dark minions were trying to distract me from my righteous thoughts and Fa study, so that they could have it their way.
So every time I sent forth righteous thoughts, I focused on eliminating the old forces and the dark minions. However, after two days, my daughter's coughing had not subsided and had only become worse.
During the night, my daughter's coughing was even more disturbing, and my heart was pained by every sound she made. It was in the midst of those disturbances that I saw my deeply embedded selfishness.
I recalled that each time when I heard about a new case of our fellow practitioners being persecuted, I was unmoved, or rather indifferent, and each time when I helped by sending righteous thoughts, I showed no concern about the results. It was not a question of my level of attainment--a link was definitely missing between our hearts. Actually, sending righteous thoughts had become something of a routine. Moreover, whenever I was asked to help with other Dafa work, I was reluctant and often tried to find excuses to defer the work until later.
How selfish I had been! Yet I had been afraid to face the issue directly. But fear is no excuse for not facing up to our selfishness. This selfishness is embedded in all our thoughts, and it tightly binds us to our human thoughts and wishes.
When I finally cast off my shackles and faced the selfish thoughts directly, my daughter's cough simply disappeared.

I. Clarifying the truth by calling people in China
It has been a while since I started to clarify the truth to companies in China by calling them at the numbers I found from the business phone book. The effect has been very good. Over 90% of them had positive reactions, and many thanked me after listening to the truth. Some people even asked me, "What can I do to help you?" Even though some people kept silent until I finished talking without giving any comments, I could still feel that they were shocked after hearing the truth.
I have been improving my skills time after time and little by little. I became more and more succinct and straightforward.
I tell them the principles of "good is rewarded with good" as well as the truth of the staged Tiananmen Self-immolation. After I finish, usually I can feel their shock and appreciation. Many said, "Good to know" or "I see." Many of them thanked me.
Occasionally, I would meet someone who didn't understand the truth and was about to hang up the phone. I would seize the moment before he/she hung up and say quickly as if I was talking to a friend, "Don't hang up yet. I've made hundreds of phone calls, and almost everyone thanked me. You may have misunderstood me." Many times, I held them this way until they understood me and said thanks in the end.
Sometimes the other side would give comments, ask questions or challenge me. Then I knew what his/her misunderstanding was and could take the opportunity to clarify the truth to them even more.
It is part of our cultivation practice when we make phone calls to clarify the truth. Our words are powerful. Teacher said, "But today I have imparted a Fa so grand that it can deeply stir everyone's hearts." "Everyone will be deeply stirred by this Fa." ("Lecture at the US East Coast Conference") The principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" have woken us up. They will wake up the world's people as well. Let's get rid of the mentality of fear. The more righteous our hearts are, the more righteous our thoughts are, the more upright our other sides become, and the better the results will be. Let's not lecture to them; instead, let's treat them with sincerity and inspire their good thoughts.
II. Clarifying the truth over the Internet
Chatting over the Internet in a chat room using a microphone has no time limit; therefore it allows us to give out more information to the other side. There are many young people we meet this way who have become indifferent about traditional moral concepts. I focus on leading them to have good thoughts, and then naturally change the topic to the two kinds of attitudes [people have] towards the persecution of Falun Gong. Finally I clarify the truth to them. The result has been very good. Many people were indeed shocked. I remember when we just started practicing cultivation in Dafa, the principles Teacher has articulated to us, such as the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance," the principles of De (virtue) and karma as well as their roles in our lives, changed our conventional way of thinking. We have changed from merely learning to be good people to being practitioners. Today, we are able to pass on to the world's people our understandings at different levels of the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" as well as the wonder of Falun Dafa, and to touch their hearts. Many more people are waiting to hear from us.
I often see such messages in the chat room, "Alas, I had to switch to this room, the other rooms are too disturbing." "Me too. I had to come to this room." I know these are Teacher's Law Body's arrangements to let them come listen to me clarifying the truth. I tend to talk in more depth with those who I know have predestined relationships. For example, a young man from Xinjiang in the Uighur Autonomous Region told me excitedly, "Please send me all of Master's lectures in zipped files, I will risk everything else to read them." He then told me his name, workplace, home address and email address. He said that he had been longing for and preparing for this a long time ago.
We received all kinds of good responses. Many people are waking up from the lies spread by Jiang's group and they appreciate our efforts. They want to make friends with us. I use private chat more often in these cases, so that I can avoid interference from those who vilify us or who come in the middle of a conversation.
III. Clarifying the truth in Chinatown
When practitioners step into society or a crowd, we find numerous opportunities waiting for us to save sentient beings, for example, passers-by, people sitting close to us in restaurants or cafeterias, people riding the same bus with us, chatters, vendors, store attendants, tourist groups from China and older couples from China who are visiting their son or daughter. We can play it by ear to clarify the truth in many circumstances and environments.
I usually say hello to the other party in any circumstance. Sometimes I ask where he/she is from. Sometimes I ask, "Are you from the Northern (or Southern) part of China?" "Are you from the Northeast of China?" Experience helps me to get it correct. This is just warming up. Sometimes I play it by the ear and chat with him/her a little bit before I start to tell them what I want to. For example, I might say, "I'll share something with you, I have been detained in China three times together with other inmates facing the death-penalty or life-imprisonment, just because I practice Falun Gong! Many Falun Gong practitioners are imprisoned, and they are suffering brutal torture. Tens of millions of people are practicing Falun Gong. Falun Gong is very good! One will get punishment from Heaven for persecuting the innocent. Good or evil must receive their reward or punishment. You will regret it if you do not give good thoughts to this significant matter. By having good thoughts, you will create a good future for yourself."
I would play it by ear and illustrate some of the benefits as a result of good virtue, and continue, "Please be sure to support Falun Gong. Thank you!" Many people replied, "You're welcome." Some people said, "You bet." And some said, "You've got me." Some said solemnly, "I've kept your words in my heart." Several people said thanks to me while pressing their hands in front of their chest. Since many people in Chinatown arrived in the U.S. not long ago, they undergo physical and mental hardships coping in their new environment. I always encourage and help them, and ask them not to be depressed or anxious. I tell them that most of the success stories in Chinatown are not a result of good education, but that having good virtue was the key for success and good fortune. And furthermore, one should support Falun Gong with a good heart. People wouldn't find me aggressive. Most people accepted my words and thanked me.
I've made lots of friends, [some of] whom surprised me a lot later on. For example, a man from Beijing was having dinner with his girlfriend in a big restaurant with more than a hundred people. He saw me and yelled at me, and also at the rest of people in the restaurant, "Falun Dafa is good!" Another friend I clarified the truth to before, saw me from a distance at the Confucius Plaza and yelled out loud, "Falun Dafa is good!" I walked over to him and said, "Good for you!" I was truly happy for him. A fruit vendor who originally came from the Northeast of China was doing business next to a supermarket. He saw me and said like a brother, "How come I've not seen you for so long? I've been worried about you!" A watch repairman saw me. He greeted me with his hands held in a fist in front of his chest, with tears in his eyes. A man from Northern China introduced me to his friends, "This is my elder sister. She helped me at my most difficult time. She practices Falun Gong!" Then, he pointed to my Falun badge.
We would encounter situations when the other party did not understand us or resisted us. A man did not agree with what I said about good or evil meeting with rewards or punishment. He told me a story. He had a kindhearted friend who owned a restaurant, but he was depressed that he was not getting what he deserved with his good intentions. I asked him to convey the following message to his friend, "Compassion is one's nature. Other people can be less compassionate, but we cannot follow them, because they will lose virtue. It is not a completely bad thing to suffer a little bit. The saints have said, 'If the heavens wants someone to shoulder a big task, the heavens would pain his heart first and labor his body next.' My understanding is that man should undertake them without losing his compassion. Andy Lau (a well known Hong Kong movie star) once said, 'The heavens wouldn't treat a good man unfairly.'" Then I continued to clarify the truth to him. When I left, he said to me, "Thank you for your blessings." I didn't say anything [that could be considered as] blessings. It was his knowing side being appreciative after realizing that we were saving him.
As a matter of fact, it isn't us who are powerful. What is powerful are the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." When men forget about righteousness for personal gains, their true nature is disappearing. When man's compassion comes out, it is a reflection of his true nature.
I've also come to know many people with great-predestined relationships. Some of their stories were very touching. Several of them borrowed Zhuan Falun from me, and were reluctant to return the book. A Christian pastor from NJ told me after reading the book, "I hope I can have this book." An abbot in a Chinatown temple told me, "You should leave this book here to connect to the sentient beings with predestined relationships." A man I met on the bus read the book for two hours without stopping and said, "How powerful the energy is!" He constantly sighed with feeling while reading it. Later on, he went to the bathroom on the bus and told me he couldn't read the book anymore. I asked him why and he answered, "My hands are dirty now." He ended up "borrowing" the book from me. A middle-aged woman told me with tears in her eyes, "I understand something new every time I read the book, can I keep it?" A most precious happening was a young mother who obtained the Fa along with her daughter. She has listened to Teacher to teach the Fa in person at two Experience Sharing Conferences. Once, I met her and her daughter when they were sitting in meditation in Chinatown with other practitioners. The eight-year-old daughter asked me, "Would you come with us to distribute truth-clarifying materials in Confucius Plaza?"
Clarifying the truth is very important and magnificent. As long as our hearts are filled with compassion, we, as Dafa practitioners, will let the world's people feel the benevolence and grandness of Dafa. We have obtained Dafa, but others are still waiting.
Let's not fail to live up to the hopes of sentient beings. Let's do our best and give them a heart-to-heart talk. They will feel our hearts and come to understand us.

(Clearwisdom.net) Guan Bingyin used to be the Secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee in Jieshou City, Anhui Province. He and the Associate Secretary, Dong Xuejie, became notorious for cruelly persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Guan and Dong were also the Director and Associate Director, respectively, of the Jieshou City "610 Office."
Both Guan Bingyin and Dong Xuejie enthusiastically followed Jiang's regime in persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners, and they personally directed the torture of many innocent Dafa practitioners in Jieshou City. The atrocities that Guan and Dong ordered and oversaw included: beatings and verbal abuse, detentions, fines, brainwashing, confiscation of Dafa books, illegal searches of practitioners' houses and confiscation of their property, illegal detentions, exploitation of practitioners through forced labor, forcing mentally healthy individuals into psychiatric hospitals for the injection of detrimental drugs, and other gross abuses.
Since the persecution began on July 20, 1999, several Dafa practitioners have been repeatedly abducted, detained and imprisoned more than ten times. Also, many practitioners have been fined without receiving any receipts, the fines ranging from several hundred to over ten thousand yuan (1). Practitioners who could not or who refused to pay these extortion fees were sent to forced labor camps. Furthermore, Guan and Dong often instigated policemen to hit, curse at, and torture Dafa practitioners. However, both men have now received retribution for their ruthless persecution of Dafa.
Dong Xuejie spent the money extorted from practitioners on eating and drinking luxuriously in his brainwashing center. One evening, he was extremely drunk and fell flat on his face on his way home. He marred his face so seriously that he could not return to work even after resting for two weeks. When his supervisor inquired about the condition of his injury, he started a rumor that he was "hit by Falun Gong practitioners." The police department then organized a special unit to investigate, only to finally uncover the fact that Dong Xuejie had hurt his face due to his own extreme drunkenness. Dong Xuejie was then officially suspended from his duties and ordered to write a self-examination report.
Guan Bingyin violently struck Ms. Fan Jing, a nearly sixty-year-old female Dafa practitioner. Using both hands he repeatedly slapped Ms. Fan's face and punched and kicked her until he was out of breath. Still unsatisfied, he sent Ms. Fan to a psychiatric hospital in Fuyang City, where she was force-fed with unknown medical compounds through her nose, given high-voltage electric shocks and injected with large amount of drugs that damaged her central nervous system. This abuse continued for three months until all of Ms. Fan's muscles twitched incessantly and uncontrollably. In addition, her tongue became stiff, making it impossible for her to even swallow a sip of water; she became deaf and her face became swollen and distorted. Presently, Guan Bingyin has been fired for committing excessively malicious acts.

[Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Someone reported him and he was arrested by the Tianbei Police Station of Jiaohe City. On June 6, he was sent to the Bajiazi Detention Center. In the Bajiazi Detention Cetner, Yu Xuezhong suffered from serious tortures. He was beaten by the criminals in the detention center. His kidney and back were injured. On July 9, he was sent to Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp and was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

She is now being detained at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp of Liaoning Province.

6. [Changde City, Hunan Province] Practitioner Liu Yuqing Secretly Arrested on the Way Back to Her Home
At about 3:00 p.m. on July 22, 2004, Ms. Liu Yuqing was secretly arrested by local policemen.
7. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Tang Shuxian Illegally Arrested
At about 6:00 a.m. on August 9, 2004, Ms. Tang Shuxian, a practitioner from Tonghua City of Jilin Province was captured by community director Liu Xuemei, while she was distributing truth-clarifying material. Ms. Tang was sent to the Changliu Detention Center on the night of August 9.
Notes:
(1) "Hung up with hands cuffed behind the back" - With both hands cuffed behind the back, and both feet suspended, or only toes touching the ground, one is hung onto a basketball support or house beam with handcuffs. Both hands and arms soon lose sensory perception while being hung up. In addition, both hands will go dead from the lack of blood circulation.
(2) Truth-clarifying material: Flyers, pamphlets, posters, etc. with factual information about Falun Gong and the persecution to counter China's state-run media propaganda.

Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

Practitioners Exchange Insights
We suggest that overseas practitioners clarify the truth to Chinese tourists during this peak tourist season. Many colleges organize trips to Hong Kong or Macau for their faculty and students during summer vacation. In 2001 the Chinese colleges were flooded with fallacious and defamatory information about Falun Dafa, and the teachers do not know the truth of the persecution or about the global efforts to bring Jiang to justice. We hope that our fellow practitioners overseas fully seize this summer vacation opportunity to clarify the truth to Chinese tourists and tell them how widely Falun Dafa is practiced all over the world.
Facts of the Persecution
Mr. Xing Fusheng from Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, a firm Falun Dafa cultivator, resisted the persecution during a brainwashing class held by the district "610 Office(1)." In April 2002, he was sentenced to one year in a labor camp and was dismissed from his job with the Shangjie District Food Company. On May 25, 2004, Mr. Xing was abducted and held in Gongyi City Detention Center. Due to his long-term detention, during which he was interrogated, tortured, and deprived of the right to be visited by his family, his face was disfigured, and an eye and all four limbs severely bruised.
I am a Falun Dafa practitioner in Qidong County, Hunan Province. I went to Beijing to appeal in July 1999 and November 2000 and was detained. The officials in Qidong County arrested me many times and extorted money from me. He Zhengrong (male) took my son's van as his own personal property. My son, who does not cultivate, is a van-taxi driver.
Administer Li Weixin(male) of Yanji Industrial Business Company in Jilin Province forces employees who are Falun Dafa practitioners to write guarantee statements to give up cultivation. If they refuse, their monthly salary is reduced to 300 yuan(2). One practitioner mailed him truth-clarifying flyers several times, but Li Weixin reported him to the police. As a result this practitioner became destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home.
Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Wang Mi, 42 years old, is being illegally detained in Daqing Prison in Heilongjiang Province. His hometown is Shuangcheng City, and he used to be a physical education teacher in a middle school in Jixi City. In July, 2001, Mr. Wang was sentenced to 10 years in prison for clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa. He has been jailed in Harbin Prison since April, 2002. In April 2003, a prisoner hit Wang with a metal stick so hard that he lost consciousness for three whole days. The doctors diagnosed a severe concussion. He was transferred to Daqing Prison on July 1, 2004, and is suffering a mental breakdown from the brutal torture.
