Chen Guanghui, Former Department Manager at the Bank of Construction, Lianyungang Branch, Is in Critical Condition Due to Being Tortured

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Chen Guanghui, 38, is a graduate of Nanjing University. He was a department manager at the Lianyungang Branch Office of the Bank of Construction, as well as the assistant manager of the computer systems department. Chen Guanghui started practicing Falun Gong in 1995, and he was well known and considered a good person. However, when the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, Chen Guanghui was frequently attacked for his belief.

During the International Chinese Business Conference, which was held in the International Exhibition Center in Nanjing in 2001, Chen Guanghui suddenly disappeared. He was eventually found to have been illegally detained. After this first detention, on September 10, 2001, Chen Guanghui was again illegally detained. A year later, on September 12, 2002, he was illegally sentenced to eight years in prison by the Xiabai District People's Court in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. He was sent to Suzhou Prison in Jiangsu Province.

On July 29, 2004, Chen Guanghui was injured on the back of his head while in prison. He was sent to the Psychiatric Department in the First Hospital of Suzhou University, where he remains in a coma. The police did not notify his family until August 4, 2004. His family visited him under the supervision of guards from Suzhou Prison.

According to the branch office of the Bank of Construction and the doctor of the Psychiatric Department at the First Hospital of Suzhou University, Chen Guanghui was illegally tortured, and his head was seriously injured while he was in Suzhou Prison. Currently he is receiving treatment at the First Hospital of Suzhou University, and he is in critical condition.

Most people showed sympathy, however some did not understand us, and avoided the conversation. When we called the hospital, the police answered the phone and claimed they did not know anything about the situation.
