A Report on the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Taicang City, Jiangsu Province

(Clearwisdom.net) In recent years in Taicang City, Jiangsu Province, nearly a hundred Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested, detained, beaten, and forcefully sent to forced labor camps. In addition, their family property has been confiscated, they have been laid off of work, and their wages have been decreased or withheld completely.

Zhang Huizhong, Wang Xiangyuan, and Zhang (given name not known) in the Taicang City "610 Office" (1), and personnel from the Political Security Office of the Bureau of Public Security have fabricated one unjust case after another against Falun Gong practitioners. They have even forcefully sent healthy, perfectly rational people to mental hospitals. On hospital medical records, the stated reason for admittance is because of an unshakable belief in Falun Gong, resulting in forced hospitalization by the Public Security Agency. However, these practitioners are completely rational and normal.

According to incomplete statistics, the following practitioners have been illegally arrested and detained: Yang Zhen (formerly in Taishi), Shi Zhehui, Gao Mingqiu, Gu Qiuling, Deng Mingming (the Vocational Education Center), Yang Zhaokun (Taishi), Wang Guiping (Shixiao), Qin Yangqiu (the Post Bureau), Chen Shuying, Li Jin, Bao Huizhu (the Textile and Machinery Factory), Zhou Guohua (the Wine Factory), Zhang Yongming, Yang Yunfang (the Communist Party School), Wang Jian, Chen Juying, Xu Xiaomei, Yu Hong, Lu Jie (the South Suburb), Wang Xueya (Nanxiao), Miao Peiying, Feng Xiulan, Wu Juying (the Textile Factory), Chen Huifang, Wu Zhengzheng, Xu Fuming (the East Suburb), Zhou Hongbing, Chen Wei and his mother (Liuhe), Zhao Yumei (Bianqiao), Pu Hao, Wang Wei (the Agriculture Bank), Cai Xiuying (Zhitang), Pu Jibing (Hualiang), Zhang Huiming, Ling Guangda, Shan Shuhua (Jingbian Factory), Chen Gang (the Chinese Traditional Medicine Hospital), Yuan Caiming, Cao Peizhen, Wu Jianzhen (the West Suburb), Dong Meiying, Dong Meiying (Shuangfeng), Lou Yashu, Shen Jian (the Insurance Company), Wang Huixin, Qian Yanping, Jiang Fengying, Chen Jine, Cao Jinyuan, Qian Huizhen (Ludu), Zhang Haiquan (the Grain Bureau), Tao Guizhen, Yang Hongli, Shi Qingzhi, and three people in Li Yuying's family. Some of them have been illegally arrested more than four or five times, and their family's property has been also confiscated.

Practitioners who have been illegally sentenced include: Lou Yashu (4 years), Yuan Caiming (3 years), Wu Jianzheng (2 years of a suspended sentence). Wang Jian and Shi Zehui were exempted from criminal punishment after they were arrested and illegally detained for over 10 months. Those who have been sent to forced labor camps include Wang Jian (the South Suburb, 3 years), Xu Fuming (3 years), Shi Zehui (3 years), Pu Jiping (3 years), Pu Hao (a year and a half), Chen Juying, Wu Juying, Zhao Yumei, Bao Huizhu, Qin Qiuyan, and zhang Yongming (one year and a half), Feng Xiulan (a year and a half, to be served outside of prison), Yang Yunfang (2 years).

In addition, the authorities have forcefully sent healthy practitioners of sound mind to mental hospitals where they are forcefully injected with nerve-damaging drugs, and even illegally charged for these "medications." The extorted amounts range from several hundred, to nearly ten thousand yuan (2). The longest forced hospitalization is half a year. The hospital records state that practitioners are discharged only after "obtaining some understanding of Falun Gong."

Practitioners who were illegally sent to mental hospitals include: Zhang Mingming, Wang Wei, Qin Qiuyan, Lu Jie, Zhao Yumei (persecuted to a state of mental collapse at the labor camp), Cai Xiuying, Zhou Hongbing (was forcefully injected for eight days), and Qian Huizhen.

Practitioners who were laid off of work or had their wages garnished or taken away: Shi Zehui, Qin Qiuyan, Dai Hongxiang, Shan Shuhua, Zhang Huiming, Zhang Haiquan, Cao Peizhen (had a bank deposit receipt for 9,000 yuan confiscated).

Recently, the Public Security Department has sent many policemen to monitor and track practitioners. Practitioner Wang Jian and others have been detained, and remain in custody as of this writing. Just saying the words, "Falun Gong is good," can result in arrest. This was the case with practitioners Zhou Huohua, Gao Mingqiu, and Gu Qiuling. There are several other practitioners who were arrested without any stated reason. Fifteen practitioners, including Ling Guangda, Chen Juying, Shen Jian, Chen Shuying, Miao Peiying and Dong Jinfeng, are currently being detained at a forced brainwashing center in Green Grass Holiday Village.

(1) "610 Office" - an agency specifically created to persecute Falun gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

(2) yuan - the unit of Chinese currency. The monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 yuan.
