(Clearwisdom.net) Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.

Recently, major newspapers in Wuhan City, Hubei Province have been reporting the news of the sudden death of Ms. Xiao Lin, the former Deputy Head of Women's Jail No. 1 in Wuhan City. The local government is now establishing a monument and authorizing the biography of Ms. Xiao. However, those who knew what Ms. Xiao had done before her sudden death knew her death must have been a karmic retribution for the crimes that she had committed.

Since Jiang Zemin's regime started to persecute Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999, Women's Jail No. 1 was the first detention facility in Wuhan that became a concentration camp, which systematically tortured and murdered Falun Gong practitioners. It has incarcerated an appalling number of female Falun Gong practitioners, although the actual number is still unknown. Xiao Lin had been the Deputy Head of the jail in Wuhan City from 1999 to 2002. During that time, Xiao Lin gave direct orders to torture Falun Gong practitioners, and she even personally tortured practitioners herself. Xiao Lin ordered prison inmates to subject Falun Gong practitioners to savage beatings, the torture using the "death board" [1], being hung up by the hands handcuffed behind the back, punitive force-feeding torture [2], small cells [3], being forced to stand for extended periods of time without sleep, and many other types of appalling tortures. Despite the Chinese government's information filter on the Internet, Clearwisdom.net has received and reported many cruel cases of persecution from this jail.

Xiao Lin died suddenly on July 14, 2004 from an unknown illness that occurred less than a month ago, and the hospital was unable to make a diagnosis. Xiao Lin's husband, Mr. Zhu Zhichao, is the Deputy Head of the Yijiadun Police Station of the Qiaokou Public Security Bureau. Mr. Zhu has directly participated in the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. He is also currently suffering from a severe illness.

We would like to offer advice to those who continue to persecute Falun Gong practitioners: Heaven will ultimately reward the good and punish the bad. Please stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners and repent for your crimes before it's too late!

Note:

[1] Tied to a Death Board: This variation of solitary confinement was originally conceived for and used on death row criminals. The victim is tied to an iron or wooden board for weeks with four limbs stretched out and locked, and cannot move at all. The victim is tied down at all times, having to be fed by someone else, but sleeping and relieving themselves are all done on the board. For this reason the victim is often stripped naked. The victim suffers not only from solitary confinement, but also the excruciating pain of feeling their whole body atrophying. Quite a few practitioners have lost their lives from this torture. See Figure 4 in Illustrations of Torture Methods Used in Chinese Detention Centers and Forced Labor Camps, Part 1.

[2] Force-Feeding: This is another torture commonly used by police against practitioners, and it is the number one cause of deaths of Falun Gong practitioners. Almost every Falun Gong practitioner who has gone on a hunger strike in forced detention has suffered from abusive forced-feeding. Many practitioners not even on hunger strikes have also been tortured using this method.

The purpose of police force-feeding is never to nourish, but rather to punish practitioners and to cause so much pain that they will renounce Falun Gong practice. To that end, the police have used many different means to cause excruciating pain and injury, including: inserting and withdrawing the feeding tubes repeatedly, leaving the feeding tubes in the stomach, knocking off teeth to force-feed, force-feeding saturated salt-water, vinegar/liquor, hot pepper oil, mustard oil, boiling water, urine, and/or feces. See Figure 6, 7 in Illustrations of Torture Methods Used in Chinese Detention Centers and Forced Labor Camps, Part 2.

[3] Locked in Small Cell: A small cell is a room of less than three square meters. It has no window, no bed, no water, and no toilet. A victim is locked in a small cell for months, having to eat, sleep, and excrete in the same small area. Since the height of the room is less than 1.5 meters, one cannot stand straight. To exacerbate the agony, the guards often handcuff the victim in the small cell door so the victim cannot sleep for many days.
