Taiwan: Introducing Falun Gong at National Dong Hwa University's Orientation Expo (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) National Dong Hwa University is located in Hualien
County and is one of the top universities of eastern Taiwan. To welcome new
students, the university held a University Orientation Expo on September 13,
with organizations of all kinds participating. The Falun Gong club, with its
unique peaceful and graceful exercises demonstration, attracted many people's
attention. In Taiwan, almost everyone knows about Falun Gong. Upon seeing practitioners'
exercises demonstration, some students were very happy and said: "The
University also has a Falun Gong club!" Some students asked: "What is
the difference between Falun Gong and martial arts? Does Falun Gong have any
spiritual beliefs? Why is Falun Gong being persecuted in Mainland China? What is
the practice schedule of the club? After practitioners' explanation, some left
their contact information and said that they wanted to learn Falun Gong. One
student took some extra materials saying that he will give them to his
classmates. Falun Gong teaches "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" and
guides people to improve their morality. Meanwhile, it also teaches five sets of
exercises which can help people achieve better health. Falun Gong is very
popular in Taiwan. Moreover, many schools and universities have Falun Gong
clubs, and lots of students and teachers practice it. Conversely, in China, teachers who practice Falun Gong have been fired, while
students who practice have been expelled from schools. Zhang Lianjun, for
example, is a widely recognized outstanding graduate student of Tsinghua
University. However, the university purposefully rejected his Master's degree
thesis and didn't issue him his degree solely because he is a Dafa practitioner.
Zhang Lianjun went to appeal for Falun Gong according to China's Constitution:
however, he was arrested and sentenced to 8 years in prison. He is currently
being detained in Chifeng 4th Prison of Inner Mongolia and has been
paralyzed due to brutal torture. Such a good promising young scholar, because of
his belief in "truthfulness, compassion and forbearance," was
subjected to torture by the authorities and now lies in a coma. Where is justice
in China? Practitioners of the Dong Hwa University Club said that they would hold a
series of events to let people know the true story about Falun Gong and expose
the brutal persecution in Mainland China.
