Ms. Du Chunxiang's Life is in Peril from Torture in Harbin City Women's Prison

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Du Chunxiang, 47 years old, is the spouse of an employee of the Well Drilling Research Institute, Daqing City Oil Administration Bureau. She lives in the Babaishang area of Daqing. Though she had a breast tumor before she began practicing Falun Dafa, it disappeared after she took up the practice.

Since the persecution began, Du Chunxiang has been to Beijing several times to appeal and was detained several times. Her work unit sent her to brainwashing classes to attempt to coerce her to give up the practice numerous times. Over the past few years, her work unit and enforcers from Babaishang Police Station have incessantly harassed her and her family. Liu Jichen, deputy director from the Research Institute's Party Committee, Yan Li, chief of the Security Section, Lin Shui, police chief of Babaishang Police Station, Zhang Hongwei from Shanhaiguan Police Team and others have extorted over 20,000 Yuan from Du Chunxiang and her family members. What's more, to date her retirement pension has been suspended. Du Chunxiang also endured interrogations from Li Baoshan and Peng Jibao from Babaishang Police Station, and Zhang Hongwei from the No. 2 Team, Shanhaiguan Police Team, accompanied by all kinds of excruciating torture methods. In 2001, she went into exile to avoid further torment under the persecution from her work unit and personnel from the Babaishang Police Station.

On May 28, 2002, Du Chunxiang was caught at a Falun Dafa materials production site in the Zhangtiejiang area. On July 5, 2002, personnel from Honggang District People's Procuratorate arrested her. Between 9:40 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 2002, without family members present, Honggang District Court secretly sentenced Dafa practitioners Du Chunxiang, Wang Jingcui, Cheng Qiaoyun, and Wu Shunzi. The practitioners spoke up, "Falun Dafa is Great" and walked in the courtroom with dignity. During the whole process, they resisted the evil arrangements and pointed out that the previous interrogation records were compiled under coercion and now they would not acknowledge them. They refused to sign their names when the court personnel ordered them to sign the verdict. The practitioners sternly told them, "Doing good will be rewarded with good; doing evil will be punished!" On November 14, 2004, Du Chunxiang was sentenced to five years of imprisonment. The chief justice was Yuan Xiaohong; the jury included Li Fa and Shi Baishan; the secretary was Che Rongjuan.

On December 23, 2002, Du Chunxiang was transferred to the No. 2 Division of No. 1 Ward in Harbin City Female Prison. In the spring of 2003, Du Chunxiang became extremely weak from torture in prison. Team leader Xia and Du Chunxiang's family members sent her to the No. 2 Hospital of Harbin Medical University for a checkup. She was diagnosed as suffering tuberculosis. Her family applied for medical parole on her behalf, but the prison authorities and Honggang Police Station refused to release her.

Her condition deteriorated around July 12-14, 2004. During a family visit, she was muzzled and was too weak even to stand up. Under repeated requests from her family, she was again taken to the No.2 Hospital for a check-up. The check-up results showed that she was suffering from anemia, gastritis and diffused tuberculosis. However, the prison authorities totally ignore her life-threatening condition, and to date still refuse to release her, despite of the strong request from her family.
