By Clearwisdom correspondent Wang Ying
(Clearwisdom.net) On September 18, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners from San
Jose, Oakland, San Francisco and Newark took part in the annual Newark Days
Celebration Parade. Falun Gong practitioners' procession won first prize, and
the organizers invited practitioners to participate in the celebration next
year.

This was the fifth time that Falun Gong practitioners took part in the
parade. Over the past five years, practitioners have actively participated in
local community activities. Many citizens have known about the beauty of Falun
Dafa for quite some time. In 2000, the Mayor of Newark issued a proclamation
instituting Falun Dafa Week, in honor of Falun Gong. This year, when the Falun
Gong procession appeared, practitioners were warmly applauded by the spectators. The organizer of the parade wrote to Falun Gong practitioners to thank them
for taking part in the 49th Newark Days Parade and invited
practitioners to join the celebration next year. He said, "The citizens of
Newark appreciated your procession very much!"
Falun Gong practitioners from Newark and nearby cities hold weekly group Fa-study
and experience sharing every Thursday night at the Newark Public Library. On
September 23, practitioners shared the good news about their participation in
the parade and the prize they won with the librarians. The librarians happily
congratulated practitioners.
A librarian heard about the persecution that is happening in China. She said,
"In China, you are in a very difficult situation. Here, you attended the parade
and won the prize. This is a wonderful acknowledgment for you. It is indeed
remarkable. You are already merged into the community." She once again
congratulated us for winning the prize.
