Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province Pulled Out Falun Dafa Practitioner's Toenails with Pliers

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Pan Wei from Nong'an County, Jilin Province, was abducted by the local police station in 2002 and then sent to forced labor camp for one and a half years. On December 20, 2002, he was sent to Team #3 of Unit #2 in Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. He was beaten badly and the vicious thugs ripped out his toenails with pliers.

Those primarily responsible include the unit captain Yang Guang, the unit sub-captain Zhu Zhenglin, and a guard whose last name is Liu. Zhu Zhenglin asked Mr. Pan whether he would renounce his belief or not. Mr. Pan answered "No." Zhu was so incensed that he ordered criminal inmates to pour cold water over Mr. Pan in the chill of winter and to beat him every couple of days.

In March 2003, Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp held a Severe Punishment Meeting. Captain Gao from the Administrative Section threatened the practitioners, saying that they must be "transformed" by agreeing to give up Falun Dafa. The next day Zhu Zhenglin went to roll call and selected Mr. Pan Wei to question, asking him whether he would follow the order. Mr. Pan refused. Zhu responded by intentionally making trouble for Mr. Pan and beating him.

Over ten criminal inmates then got together and dragged Mr. Pan Wei to a room. They took off all his clothes and shocked him with electric batons. When they saw that Mr. Pan would not yield, they beat him with a steel mill fixture and a rubber engine belt. Then they poured cold water on him to make him regain consciousness and beat him again. When the thugs were tired, they used pliers to nip the insides of his thighs and his toenails. One toenail was ripped off right away. His other toes all had bruises and oozed pus for over a month. Due to the beating, Mr. Pan was confused and disoriented and could not even walk in a straight line. They refused to let other people carry him, and he fell down in the lavatory. Mr. Pan had a big cut on his face and many wounds on his back, which became scars still visible when he was released.

Under these continuous tortures, Mr. Pan became confused and wrote a "Dissociation Statement," renouncing his practice of Falun Dafa. He later realized that what he had done was wrong. On October 4, 2003, the labor camp tried to count the number of people who had been "transformed" and stopped practicing Dafa. They went to every unit. Liu Donghao, the head of Unit #2, asked those who had been "transformed" to raise their hands. Pan Wei refused to raise his hand and was beaten badly by Liu Donghao, Zhang Yu, and Wang Haibin. Wang Haibin, who is from Nong'an, kicked him hard many times in the chest, making it difficult for Pan Wei breathe for the next several months.

The next day, policeman Sun Haibo hit Pan Wei with his fists for a while, then kicked him with his boots. Later Sun shocked Pan Wei with an electric baton. He then handed the electric baton to Liu Donghao, who shocked Pan again. After a while, Sun Haibo got Pan Wei to the office and handcuffed his hands behind his back and to a bunk bed. Then he forced Pan's head between the rungs of the ladder leading from the bottom to the top bunk and stripped off Pan's pants. He then used a rubber belt to strike Pan Wei and pinch his flesh with pliers. The beating lasted two hours. When Pan Wei got back to his cell, the other inmates were all sleeping. He was still forced to sit on a board until 12:00 a.m. as they tried to force him to curse Teacher Li, the founder of Falun Dafa.

In April 2004, when Pan Wei's term expired, the labor camp did not release him but continued to detain him illegally beyond his term. Through his family's effort, he was later released.
