Hubei Gongan County Primary School Teacher Tortured in Mental Hospital By Dafa Practitioner in Gongan County, Hubei Province
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhang Lieju is a teacher from the Douhuti
Primary School, Gongan County, Hubei Province. Because she is steadfast in
practicing Falun Gong, she was persecuted often by "610 Office"
personnel, police and some former workplace cadres. Many times she was on the
verge of death. She was taken forcibly to mental hospitals and injected with
drugs that damage the central nervous system. She became disabled, yet the
depraved people claim that they cured her! The "610 Office" in Gongan County, Hubei Province is a government
organization that persecutes Falun Gong. For several years, policemen led by
Liao Xuesheng have committed atrocities against Falun Dafa and its
practitioners. They are responsible for one death, six people being jailed, more
than a dozen people being held in forced labor camps and many people being
tortured in mental hospitals. They intended to force practitioners that follow
"Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" to renounce their belief
through torture. Chen Xueliang, Yang Zhengfa, Hu Shiyang and others became the
core of those who persecuted Falun Dafa and practitioners. They actively
supported the unlawful actions by the "610 Office." Policeman Liao Xuesheng personally instructed Zhou Liangqing and other police
officers to make arrests, and organized three times the so-called brainwashing
sessions. Practitioners were arrested at all times during the day. Some were
arrested at midnight when they were asleep, some were making dinner or lunch at
home and some were involved in conducting business. Every time, when the police
arrested about seven or eight practitioners, they pocketed the practitioners'
money. The lawless personnel had armed police officers help them persecute
practitioners. They forced practitioners to watch television productions that
slander Falun Gong. Chen Gang and Yuan Changjie were the force behind the
detention center guards forcing practitioners to listen to the brainwashing
material. In order to keep their positions and gain bonuses, the "610 Office"
officials violated the law. They ignore their conscience and keep punishing
practitioners who do not compromise. They often use handcuffs and foot shackles
on practitioners. Such instruments are generally used only for death row
inmates. They beat and kick practitioners, tie them onto boards, brutally
force-feed them, send them to mental hospitals to be tormented and injected with
nerve-damaging drugs. Ms. Zhang Lieju has suffered inhuman persecution. Because she appealed for
Falun Gong in Beijing, she was illegally sentenced to one year at forced labor
camp. Shayang Farm (forced labor camp) refused to accept her. Therefore, she was
detained in a detention center for more than a year. Furthermore, she was not
released after she had served her term. Zhang Lieju began a hunger strike, but
was taken forcibly to a mental hospital for further persecution. In the
neurology department of the People's Hospital, a group of policemen instructed
the medical personnel Wu Wei and Li Benyu to tie her tightly to the bed. They
wanted to make sure that she could not move her hands and feet. They injected
her with medicine that damage the central nerve system. The dosage was several
times higher than what is medically allowed for those suffering from severe
mental disorders. Zhang Lieju was tied to the bed for five to six hours daily.
She lost control of her bowels and bladder, her mind was not clear and she was
frightened and restless. Her entire body itched as if ants were biting her. She
felt nauseated upon seeing food and had showed severe symptoms of being
poisoned. During the force-feeding sessions, the police often beat her body and pried
her mouth open with tongs, cutting her mouth. She was locked up and abused
around the clock. The "610 Office" police often went to the hospital and threatened
Zhang Lieju. Policeman Chen Yude once visited the hospital. Upon hearing that
Zhang refused to take their drugs, Chen ordered the doctor to use
electrotherapeutics, and said, "If she dies, the hospital won't be
responsible." The inhumane persecution caused Zhang to be on the brink of
death many times. Zhang could not take the medicine for three days and vomited
continuously when given medication. She was emaciated and unable to take care of
herself. Her arms were painful and stiff. At one time in the detention center,
she lost lots of blood through her mouth while sleeping. The inmates were
frightened and did not dare to be in the same cell with her. Zhang Lieju, a young primary school teacher, was tortured into disability by
those depraved people. The "610 Office" personnel even announced that
they had cured her! Zhang's 70-year-old mother heard her life was in danger, so
she requested to see the daughter. However, the "610 Office" policemen
extorted 500 yuan (1) from her. She had a difficult time getting that much money
together, as her income was earned by picking cotton in the countryside. She saw
her daughter only once. The officials even extorted nearly 20,000 yuan from
Zhang's work unit. They claimed that Zhang had been going to appeal in Beijing. The Constitution of China provides citizens with the right to appeal, and
freedom of speech, belief and assembly. However Falun Gong practitioners that
practice "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" are framed and
wrongfully accused. The officials forbid people from explaining the facts about
Falun Gong. They deprive the practitioners of their right to belief and have
taken away their human rights and human dignity. Zhang Lieju was arrested during her appeal in Beijing. The police violently
beat and kicked her, locked up in an iron cage, hung up and cuffed her hands
behind her back, deprived her of sleep, tortured her with electric batons, beat
her with police batons, deceived her and confiscated her property. After she was
sent back to Gongan County, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, she was again
severely persecuted. Zhang went on a hunger strike for 14 days during the
summer. Her stomach was on fire, and she became emaciated. She was then put into
a tub of water for the entire day. After she got a little better, but was still
on the brink of death, she was sent to the mental hospital for further torment. Because she suffered brutal torment and persecution in mental hospitals many
times, she managed to escape from the hospital so she could stay alive. These
depraved hospital employees falsely claimed that she resisted arrest and that
she had fled. They sent out a large group of people to capture her. Therefore,
she became destitute and homeless to avoid further arrest. However she was
reported in Jianli and arrested again. The "610 Office" gave financial
rewards to people that turned in practitioners. Chen Huamin, the former principal of Douhuti Primary School in Gongan County,
actively arranged for the persecution by the Public Security Bureau and
"610 Office" policemen, and prompted Zhang's family members to destroy
Falun Gong books and Teacher's portrait. Chen falsely reported that Zhang Lieju
practiced the exercises in the classroom, and deceived and threatened her
family. He told them, "If you take her to the mental hospital, she may
receive a medical release with a doctor's certificate and her sentence may be
commuted." Chen Huamin's duplicity helped Zhang's family members to deceive
Zhang to go to the Shashi District Mental Hospital. She was tied up, force-fed
and injected with harmful substances. She was devastated physically and
mentally. Chen Huamin even forged a fake mental illness medical record for Zhang
and handed it to Gongan County "610 Office" police to try to obtain a
reward. It was their excuse to persecute kind and innocent people. In addition,
they spread a rumor that Zhang was mentally disturbed. Zhang Lieju tried to
explain the truth to Chen Huamin, but Chen refused to listen. Chen Huamin
dismissed Zhang Lieju from her duties and stopped paying her wages. He even
refused to pay her the basic living expenses. He forced her to write the
"Guarantee Statement" (2) on several occasions. The "610 Office" also instructed the current principals Hu Ling,
Hong Yun, Ma Ming and others to monitor Zhang Lieju. They also cooperated with
the "610 Office" police many times and acted as the core in
persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. They tailed and reported Zhang time and
time again. Some of them reported Zhang's situation to the "610
Office" twice daily, in the morning and at night. Once, when Zhang Lieju
went to her mother's home, Hong Yun and others followed her and reported her to
the police. Due to financial difficulty, sometimes Zhang picked cotton in the
countryside, so people were sent to search for her. Zhang once went to the
school and requested a job in 2002, but she was reported by Hu Ling and again
kidnapped and taken to the detention center. She was detained for nearly two
months and lost a lot of weight. She could not hold down any food and vomited as
soon as she ate. Her life was in danger. "610 Office" did not want to
take responsibility for her death, so they asked her family members to take her
home. The detention center guard said that Zhang Lieju was disabled. The school officials paid lots of money to the "610 Office"
authorities to persecute her, instead of paying her wages. They said that the
school stopped allocating wages for her. The school deprived her of the basic
right to work and live. On January 16, 2004, during the Chinese New Year, a
group of policemen led by Xiang Xiaoyang and Zhang Zuoyin, including many people
from Hu Ling's side of the school, broke into Zhang's home, removed a portrait
of Falun Gong's founder and force her into a brainwashing program. The officials at the brainwashing center refused to allow people to say the
Falun Dafa principles and speak out the words "Truthfulness, Compassion,
Forbearance" or "Falun Dafa is Great," and they would accuse
those who did so as being mentally ill. They forced Falun Dafa practitioners to
watch propaganda television shows and movies that defamed Falun Dafa. If anyone
refused, the authorities would tie them up and torture the practitioners, all in
an attempt to force them to give up
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." A group of officials monitored her and deprived her of sleep. They harassed
her endlessly, and injected Zhang with harmful drugs that damaged the central
nervous system again and again. As a result, her entire body bloated from the
drugs and her mouth was distorted. However, the police team leader Tian Ming
said, "Zhang Lieju, you got this way by practicing Falun Gong, don't die
here and blame us." Their actions were so unspeakably evil! Zhang Lieju has
been on the brink of death many times due to the inhumane torture she suffered.
If she did not practice Falun Gong, she would already have died. Note: (1). Yuan - 500 yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in
China. (2). "Guarantee Statement" - A statement to declare that he or she
is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun
Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal, and never again associate with any
practitioners.
