Jiang's Visit to Guangan City Means Dafa Practitioners Are Harassed and Persecuted

(Clearwidsom.net) Because Jiang Zemin was scheduled to visit Guangan City, Sichuan Province, on August 22, officials in Chongqing City escalated the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners beginning August 18. Below are a few examples of the persecution and harassment that occurred.

Ms. Huang Zehan is over 60 years old, and is a well respected teacher in the No. 11 High School in Chongqing City. Police from the Chongqing City and Nanan District Police Departments illegally arrested her at home on the afternoon of August 18 and held her in the Nanan District Detention Center. She lost consciousness after being abused and had to be sent to Danzishi Hospital.

Ms. Liu Shufang is a retired worker who is over 60 years old. She lives on Danzishiqiantai Street. Police from the Chongqing City and Nanan District Police Departments illegally arrested her on the afternoon of August 18, and then ransacked her home. Local police assistants were also involved. Ms. Liu Shufang is currently being detained in the Nanan District Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang Xiaorong is in her 40s, and is a retired worker from the Nanan District Fur Manufacturing Factory. Local police assistants and city police arrested her, and are holding her in the Nanan District Detention Center.

Ms. Zhou Liangzhi is in her 50s, and is a retired worker from the Casing Factory. On the afternoon of August 18, police from Division One of the Nanan District Police Department, along with police assistants, the Director of Danzishi Police Station Peng Nanding, and Police Officer Wang Guolun, attempted to abduct her by pretending it was just a routine check. Zhou Liangzhi refused to open the door. Plainclothes police watched her door around the clock until August 23.

Ms. Lei Changrong is in her 60s, and is a retired worker from the Grain Machinery Plant in Chongqing City. On the afternoon of August 18, more than 10 policemen and police assistants, including Huang Qirui from the Scout Division of Nanan District Police Station, Wang Guolun, and Lei Yuan from the Danzishi Police Station, tried to abduct her. Lei Changrong resisted by refusing to open the door. They cut off the electricity and telephone service to her house. They also threatened her daughter, who was working nearby, and coerced her into going home and unlocking the door for them. Lei Changrong latched the door from the inside immediately. Plainclothes police watched her door around the clock until August 23.

Ms. Xue Xiaoling is in her 50s, and is a retired worker from the Chongqing City No. 3 Cotton Mill. On the afternoon of August 20, officers from the Dafoduan Police Station on Danzishi Street attempted to arrest her again without success, since she refused to open the door.

Ms. Wang Fangyu lives in the Nanan District at No. 5 Courtyard. The police arrested her on the afternoon of August 18 and detained her for seven days.

Mr. Yang, who is over 80 years old, lives in the Nanan District at No. 5 Courtyard. He was arrested on the afternoon of August 18, and his house was ransacked. He has now been released.
