(Clearwisdom.net) On September 3, 2004, about 30 to 40 Falun Gong
practitioners held a large-scale truth-clarification activity at Union Square in
Manhattan. Activities included exercise demonstrations, a poster exhibition and
live reenactment of torture methods used against Falun Gong practitioners in
China, along with background music and recorded explanations. In addition,
practitioners explained the facts of the persecution and answered people's
questions constantly, which allowed thousands of people to learn about the facts
of Falun Dafa. Thousands of people were shocked at the brutality of the
persecution of Falun Gong in China.
Falun Gong practitioners from Paris, France, Toronto,
Canada, Boston and New York attended the activities. Some
practitioners demonstrated the exercises, some took part in
the live reenactment of the torture methods, and more
practitioners carried truth-clarifying materials and
scattered around the poster exhibit and the anti-torture
exhibit to hand out flyers. No matter whether they spoke
good English or not, they politely handed the
truth-clarifying materials to each passer-by. Most people
took the leaflets. When practitioners saw that some people
only looked at the anti-torture exhibition but did not take
a leaflet, practitioners then stood by their side and
explained the facts to them. They fully utilized the few
precious minutes to allow people to learn more about the
facts.
Two hearing and speech-impaired persons also came over to
watch the anti-torture exhibition. Although it was hard to
communicate with them, a practitioner handed them some
leaflets. He pointed to the reenactment of the torture
methods, then pointed to the poster exhibit, and then
pointed to the newsletters in his hands. The two people
seemed to understand and accepted the newsletters.
As one group of people would leave, another group of
people would come. Practitioners talked with one person
after another to explain what has been going on in China.
Sometimes, while someone was still asking questions, another
person would come over to ask another question.
People were shocked upon learning the facts, and they
could not hide their indignation towards the persecution.
One woman asked many questions and learned many facts of the
persecution. She said with indignation, "Jiang Zemin
deserves all these tortures. He should lock himself into the
cage and be shocked with electric batons. This [persecution]
will not last long. At most one year, really, it won't last
long."
Another woman was very interested in Falun Gong. After
learning about what Falun Gong is, she asked, "Do you
want to let more people know about Falun Gong?"
"Yes, of course. It is such a good practice, and it
costs nothing, but simply benefits people. We wish more
people would benefit from it. Another purpose of our being
here is to allow everyone to learn about this persecution of
good people, that has lasted for 5 years in China, so as to
stop it." It is often hard for Westerners to remember
Chinese names. Therefore, that woman asked several times for
the name of the chief perpetrator in persecuting Falun Gong
practitioners. She said, "I must remember this name,
this evil name [Jiang Zemin]. He persecutes good
people."
After learning about the facts, one of two female
students said to a practitioner, "I believe what you
said, but I still cannot imagine that Jiang would persecute
good people only because of his jealousy. I support you!
Please don't feel so bad!" Another girl asked for
several leaflets and wanted to give them to her friends and
family members.
Although practitioners felt a little tired after standing
there and talking with people for the entire day, when
seeing the crowds of people passing by, practitioners have
only one thought: Talk with one person and explain the facts
to him, and there will be one more person aware of the
facts. Such a good opportunity cannot be missed.
