New Zealand: Falun Gong Practitioners Hold Anti-torture Exhibit at Downtown Rotorua (Photos)

September 07, 2004

(Clearwisdom.net) After New Zealand Falun Gong practitioners held anti-torture exhibits in Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington, and Christchurch, they held anti-torture exhibit and signature drive at downtown Rotorua on the morning of September 4, 2004. Practitioners exposed the various methods of torture used against Falun Gong practitioners in China, so as to support the persecuted practitioners and called upon the public to help stop the persecution as soon as possible.

President of the Rotorua Ethnic Council Mr. Pieter van Etten and Amnesty International Rotorua Chapter coordinator Mrs. Joan Wood came to express their supports. Mr. Peter Wood from Amnesty International said that it was very touching that practitioners held live re-enactment of the torture suffered by practitioners in China. Mrs. Joan Wood expressed that she would write to government officials dealing with foreign affairs to urge them to pay attention to Falun Gong issue and to raise the issue at meetings related to international human rights.
