The "Black Coffin" Torture Device Constructed by Jianxin Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin
(Clearwisdom.net) In Jianxin Forced Labor Camp, in order to brainwash
Falun Gong practitioners, the officials have constructed a device called the
"black coffin" to torture and destroy a practitioner's body and mind. The "black coffin" is made of thick wooden boards, which are 50cm
in length, 40cm in width, and 1.89 meters in height. It is coated with
artificial black leather throughout the interior, with only a small hole at the
front. The practitioner is forced in, and there is no room to move at all. The labor camp officials use this device to torture the most steadfast
practitioners. Officials lock a practitioner inside generally for seven to ten
days, and even up to two weeks at a time. Officials first set the
"coffin" upright, then turn it sideways, face up, face down, and even
upside down. Many practitioners were crippled after coming out of the "black
coffin"--their legs were permanently damaged. When they first came out,
their extremities were severely swollen with blisters, and their clothes had to
be removed with scissors. During the hot summer, the practitioner's clothes
would cut into the flesh and stick to it. It was a horrifying scene, yet some
guards joked: "This is real imprisonment--a person fits snugly inside a
box." The guard's most abhorrent action was placing Master's picture on the bottom
of the box, so that whoever was pushed inside the box had to stand on the
picture. They used this method to insult and humiliate practitioners in an
attempt to destroy their body and mind. In April 2003, practitioner Yan Shujun was pushed into this "black
coffin" after being tortured with an electric baton (the box was 50cm in
length, 30cm in width and 1.5 meters in height). This practitioner was 1.7
meters tall. She was kept inside with a bent head and a twisted body for eight
days. She was unable to walk for a long time after she came out. Practitioner
Guo Baohua has been shut inside the "black coffin" many times. The
longest period of time was one month. In February 2002, practitioner Sha Litian,
over sixty years old, was put in the box in subzero temperatures without a coat.
Practitioner Liu Ya was locked inside for 4 days. When she came out, her legs
were swollen like wooden barrels, black and purple all over. |
