Zhao Shenxing, an Expert in Growing Mushrooms, Suffers Mental Collapse from Torture

(Clearwisdom.net) Zhao Shenxing was an expert in growing mushrooms. Around June 7, 2004, Zhang Lihua and several other people went to his home and arrested him. He was detained and persecuted in Handan City Labor Camp. Zhao Shenxing eventually suffered a mental collapse as a result of the persecution.

Mr. Zhao Shenxing, over 50, lived in a suburb of Wuan City, Hebei Province. He was one of Wuan City's expert mushroom growers. The mushrooms he grew were not only large, but also of high quality. He sold them in small quantities but charged wholesale prices. As a Dafa practitioner, Zhao Shenxing always acted according to the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." When customers came to buy mushrooms, he always dealt fairly with them.

Around June 7, 2004, Division I Director Zhang Lihua and Deputy Director Zhang Taibao from the Wuan City Police Department went to Zhao's home searching for him. They took him to the Wuan City Detention Center, where Zhao Shenxing was so brutally tortured that he was severely damaged both physically and mentally. His eyes looked dull. He also ate whatever he grabbed, including feces.

After Zhao Shenxing's son heard that his father had been tortured to mental collapse, he went to police director Zhang Lihua's home to ask for his father's release. Zhang Lihua did not dare open the door. Instead he called the police, who arrested Mr. Zhao's son. In addition, Zhang ordered the police to threaten Zhao Shenxing's family members so that they would not go to his home. In order to shirk his responsibility, Zhang Lihua sent Zhao Shenxing to Handan City Labor Camp in September 2004.

As soon as Zhao Shenxing arrived in the labor camp, he was isolated in a cell. Policeman Wang Zhiming slapped his face hard for a very long time. He hit Zhao Shenxing with his fists and kicked him, as well as beating him with a belt. Because of the torture, Zhao Shenxing suffered many physical injuries.

Policeman Wang Zhiming was afraid other people would see how brutally Mr. Zhao had been treated, so he washed the blood off Zhao Shenxing's face with water and then sent him back to the isolated cell. Policemen Wang Zhiming, Liu Shuming (from Daming City), Zhang Yunshi (from Guantao City), Qian Guoning (from Handan City), Wang Hailin (from Xingtai City), Wu Zhijun (from Xingtai City) and others took turns keeping an eye on Zhao Shenxing. They did not allow him to sleep and forced him to stand for a very long time. They also forced him to listen to their twisted arguments. If Zhao Shenxing refused to listen, they would beat him.

The following day, Gao Fei from the 610 Office and policeman Xing Yansheng continued to torture Mr. Zhao. Gao Fei separated Mr. Zhao's arms and handcuffed them to two bunk beds. Then a group of thugs shocked him with electric batons and beat him with rubber batons for a very long time. They tortured him without restraint. Among them, Guo Fei (from Ci County) beat Zhao Shenxing so hard that a wooden club was broken.

After the physical and mental abuse, Zhao Shenxing finally collapsed and suffered a mental breakdown. Police officer Wang Zhiming then spread lies, saying that Zhao Shenxing was just pretending to be mentally unbalanced and that it was the practice of Falun Gong that made him like that. They continued to persecute Zhao Shenxing. Wang Zhiming and others used a short rope to tie his head, hands and feet together, and then beat him. During that time, they also injected unknown drugs into Mr. Zhao.

One week before Zhao Shenxing was conditionally released for medical reasons, the labor camp director and policeman Yao Jianming called the labor camp doctor to do something about Zhao Shenxing's injuries caused by the beatings and electric shocks. The doctor could do nothing to hasten the healing of Mr. Zhao's many injuries. And even if his injuries could be healed, his teeth that were knocked out by the beatings could not be restored. It was said that Zhao Shenxing was sent to Wuan City Mental Hospital.

There are three isolated cells in Handan City Labor Camp, which are exclusively used to persecute practitioners. After a practitioner arrives, he is first kept in one of the cells. Policemen cover the windows with curtains and shut the door tightly. They then use all kinds of tortures. Back in 2001, Party Secretary Yang, who used to be in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong in Wuan Town, and 610 Office agents arrested Zhao Shenxing and forced him to go through brainwashing sessions. They also persecuted other practitioners.

Zhang Lihua is a policeman in Division I of the Wuan City Police Department. He closely followed Jiang's group to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in Wuan City. In addition to reckless persecution of practitioners, he also extorted a large amount of money from practitioners' family members.
