By a Dafa practitioner in China

(Clearwisdom.net) Around 2 a.m. on August 8, 2004, my neighbor's house caught fire. It was a raging fire, and three fire engines came to fight it. Strangely, when the flames reached our home, they were extinguished and disaster was averted. Why were we so lucky? My experience over the last several months tells me that Falun Dafa saved our house.

On February 16, 2004, I was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and accumulated fluid in my abdominal cavity. The doctor recommended hospitalization. I had been hospitalized in Yanbian Hospital for over a month at the end of 1998 for the same illness, and it had cost me over 20,000 yuan. This time, I asked the doctor whether it was possible to be cured. The doctor told me to get 30,000 yuan together and check into Yanbian Hospital. After I got home from buying one month's worth of medicine, I went to see a neighbor who practiced Falun Gong. I told this neighbor, "I want to learn Falun Gong. Could you teach me?" On March 17, 2004, I started to practice Falun Gong while I took medicine. I started to feel better and better, although I had multiple bowel movements every day. After over a month of this, I felt very comfortable physically.

In April I stopped taking the medicine and just practiced the exercises every day. While doing the fifth exercise, my legs were in so much pain that I gritted my teeth to bear it. Master Li told us we should be persistent.

So when I was practicing the lotus position, I was always persistent no matter how painful it was. I was determined to follow what Master said and to live by the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance."

Since beginning the practice, I have regarded myself as a Falun Dafa practitioner and have been strict with myself. Every day I do what practitioners should do: I read from Zhuan Falun, do the exercises, and send forth righteous thoughts.

My husband was working in Korea. He was very anxious about my health and worried that I might die at any time. At first he was opposed to my practicing Falun Gong. But the great changes he witnessed convinced him of Falun Gong's miraculous effect. Now our family is very happy. By learning Falun Dafa, I regained my health, but, more importantly, I now understand the truth about this human life and know to judge everything by the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." I now live a relaxed and rational life. Certainly I have many attachments, and sometimes it is hard for me to let go of them. But Master always helps me to recognize them. For instance, one time I was playing with my son's VCD player. It was 8:00 a.m., the time I usually practice the exercises, but I didn't control myself and continued playing. Another time when I was really enjoying the VCD, the sound disappeared. I tried to fix it but couldn't. When I looked at the time, it was 8:30 a.m., so I reluctantly went to practice the exercises. The next morning when I turned on the VCD player, it worked well. I was annoyed with it. Later, a fellow practitioner told me that Master was actually giving me hints that I shouldn't neglect my practice. I feel lucky to have a predestined relationship to practice Dafa and become a disciple of Master.

I will never forget how fierce that fire was. I was so worried that I didn't know what to do. I repeated to myself, "Master Li can surely help me." Then the miracle happened! I believe in our Teacher. If I truly practice Falun Gong, Master can do anything to help me. I must cherish this opportunity, and do better and better in my cultivation practice.
