(Clearwisdom.net) Zhao Zhizhen, former director of the Wuhan TV Station, was sued in a U.S. court by Falun Gong practitioners for inciting hatred against practitioners. On December 30, 2004, Zhao submitted documents to the Federal District Court in New Haven claiming that he should be protected by American's free speech principles. This is making a mockery of freedom of speech.

According to a report from the New York Times on January 2, 2005, Wuhan TV station director Zhao Zhizhen visited the U.S. last summer and was sued in a federal court by practitioners for programs shown on his station that had incited violence against them in China.

But Zhao Zhizhen, according to the report, responded by saying the lawsuit challenged his honor as an independent and objective journalist. On December 30, 2004, Zhao submitted documents to the Federal District Court in New Haven claiming that he should be protected by the American principles of free speech.

According to the Times, Morton Sklar, the executive director of the World Organization for Human Rights US, said the Connecticut court should rule against Mr. Zhao under principles of international law. "Certain kinds of speech do not qualify for protection as free speech," Mr. Sklar said. "When someone promotes the use of torture and promotes genocide or promotes the extermination of a group for its spiritual beliefs, that line has been crossed."

On July 14, 2004, when Zhao Zhizhen was visiting New Haven, Connecticut, he received a summons issued in a U.S. Federal District Court. Zhao Zhizhen is the former Wuhan TV Station Director and the former Wuhan Radio Station Director in Hubei Province, China. Several Falun Gong practitioners filed a class action lawsuit in Federal Court in New Haven, Connecticut on July 13, charging Zhao with making propaganda films that incite hatred, violence and genocide against Falun Gong practitioners.

According to Clearwisdom.net, under Zhao Zhizhen's direct instruction, the production team of the popular "Scientific Time" TV program of Wuhan went to Changchun City and produced a special film entitled "The Story of Li Hongzhi," which contained fabricated information and groundless charges. This film was used by Jiang Zemin to persuade other Central Government leaders to agree to the persecution of Falun Gong. Then the film began to be played over and over again on CCTV starting on July 22, 1999, three days after the persecution officially began. This film was the primary TV propaganda program demonizing Falun Gong in the early stages of the persecution. It was also one of the major tools used to brainwash Chinese people nationwide. Later, this film was played in forced labor camps, prisons, and mental hospitals for brainwashing purposes, and it was used to incite the torturing of Falun Gong practitioners. After watching the program, many police officers' hatred towards Falun Gong intensified and, as a result, the persecution became worse.

The practitioners have said that "free speech" does not mean that one can say anything without taking responsibility. If Zhao purposefully distorted the facts when he made the films that have caused major damage to the plaintiffs, it is no long an issue of "free speech," but rather purposeful slander. The lawsuit against Zhao is perfectly justified and reasonable.

The so-called "independent and objective" media outlets do not really exist in China. There, people can only hear one voice, no matter whether it is from a Wuhan TV station or Central Chinese TV. The Chinese media outlets have no freedom--they are the "voice of the Party" as stated by Jiang Zemin when he was interviewed by Mike Wallace of CBS.

According to co-consul for the plaintiffs, Dr. Terri Marsh, "The Wuhan Broadcasting and TV Bureau and TV Network Station were given primary responsibility by the former President of the Peoples Republic of China to create a climate of hatred, fear and violence against persons who practice Falun Gong in China and abroad using the same propaganda tactics deployed in Nazi Germany during the Second World War, in Rwanda, during the genocide of the Tutsi by the Hutu, and in China during the Cultural Revolution. American laws protect freedom of speech; however, 'free speech' is not the same as the propaganda of media outlets in a totalitarian regime."

(Clearwisdom.net) From December 16 to 19, the "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" art exhibition was held at Walker Memorial at MIT. Three artists, Falun Gong practitioners Chen Xiaoping, Wang Weixing and Fan Hong came to participate in the exhibition from Canada and New York. They talked with the audience and then led them on a walk-through of their art works.

Ms. Chen has several works displayed in this exhibition. The "Lotus Hearts" was inspired by the candlelight vigil in 2003 held in Washington DC in which she participated, together with several thousand practitioners from all over the world. When she was holding a lotus lantern at the Lincoln Memorial, she was moved to tears by the sight, and by the suffering of practitioners in China. However, the artwork presents more a sense of light and hope than sadness: The message is that the persecution will be ended immediately if everyone lights up a lotus lantern in their hearts after they learn the truth of Falun Dafa and the ongoing persecution.

"The Unity of Nature and Human" comes from a precious memory of hers. She was living on a small island when she just started to practice Falun Gong, and she often went to a beach to practice. She experienced such a feeling of the unity between nature and herself, so wonderful and concrete. Therefore, she used her paintbrush to record that precious moment.

"I liked to paint fairies when I was young, and copied many deities from Dunhuang mural paintings. I learned Chinese traditional painting and calligraphy from famous masters in China and studied charcoal drawing in a university. I then came to Saipan, a beautiful tropical island far from Hawaii. I studied art in the only university in Saipan and I have my own art gallery. With my hard work, my paintings were gradually recognized by the local government and other artists. In 1998, as the first-ever Chinese person, I received an Outstanding Artist award from the Governor-general. From 1999 to 2002, I held three solo art exhibitions and my artworks have been collected by Hawaii Bank, city governments, the Tourism Bureau and art fans from all circles. VERIZON's Pacific Branch chose my works as cover pictures for their postcards, calendars and phone books. Five schools have invited me as a visiting professor. I started to practice Falun Gong in May 1999. It was a special moment. I was having dinner at a friend's home. My friend was playing a Falun Gong videotape, and I was attracted by Master's peaceful expression and graceful movements. I exclaimed, "Aren't these a Buddha's gestures? It is so beautiful. This is exactly what I want to learn." After I finished reading Zhuan Falun, I felt wonderful. People should live by the principles elaborated by the book. How wonderful it would be if all the people come to practice Falun Dafa! Since I started to practice, my body has been constantly cleansed. My chronic gastritis and severe dysmenorrhea have both disappeared. Moreover, my temper has become better and better. Before, I was quite an arrogant person, but I have now learned to look inside myself and find my own shortcomings. I was seeking fame, but I now know that the purpose of life is much more than that, and there are more wonderful things to seek. I gradually sensed a profound power that enables me to live rationally and peacefully."

"Though I should have been completely concentrating on my art, the ongoing persecution of Falun Dafa greatly disturbed me and I have been often moved to tears by those tragic stories that have happened to practitioners in China. I can't concentrate on painting without caring for my fellow practitioners. In October 2001, I joined the "SOS! Walk Across Canada to Rescue Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in China" effort. From Vancouver to Calgary, we carried our banners and walked through rain and snow for a month. Along the walk route, we visited all the local governments and media to tell them our heartfelt appeal: Please help us end the persecution! During this period, my understanding of art and life was further deepened. In the past, my paintings were driven by the art market, but now I emphasize more the internal beauty which can inspire people's desire for true beauty. While happiness comes from giving up things, not from gaining, art comes from living an honest life, and then transcends life. When I let go of my attachments, my heart become very calm and peaceful and my artwork thus becomes further purified. Cultivation has lifted me up to a completely new realm and given me a new momentum for creation."

Ms. Fan has two works painted on silk, which combine traditional Chinese painting technique with the light and color of Western painting. The paintings were gone over dozens of times and each took several months to complete to make sure they are mistake-free. The works depict the persecution that Ms. Fan had suffered in China. However, no hatred and distress can be found from the paintings, while compassion and the law of retribution is clearly depicted.

Fan Hong used to have a happy family. She was married and has a daughter, she was a costume designer and had an M.S. degree in art from Guangzhou Art School. Ms. Fan started to practice Falun Gong in 1997 and benefited from the practice a lot. Before the persecution, she used to practice the exercises every morning in Huanghuagang Park and then go to work. After the persecution started in 1999, however, her normal life was completely destroyed. Her husband was forced to divorce her and she couldn't continue her artistic life. Ms. Fan couldn't understand why all these things happened to her and why such a good practice was being persecuted.

Fan Hong went to Tiananmen Square to display a "Falun Dafa is Great" banner, as a way to appeal to the government. She was then arrested and severely tortured in prison. She was stripped naked and pushed to the ground with criminals stomping on her body. She was tied to a bed to be force-fed. The perpetrators were also greatly moved by her unyielding spirit and asked: " How can you, such a gentle lady, be so firm in Falun Gong and dare to recite the Fa when we force-feed you?" She told them, "Maybe this is the only opportunity for me to meet you; I want to tell you that Falun Dafa is great and that you shouldn't do such bad things." Touched by her great compassion, some police officers and criminal inmates said that they would treat all practitioners reasonably in the future, and they indeed did so.

While Ms. Fan was detained, whether in Beijing or Dongshan Detention Center in Guangzhou, she always practiced Falun Gong. When she meditated, she completely ignored the darkness of prison and those distorted evil faces. She saw great and beautiful dimensions, which she later depicted in her artworks. Fan Hong said the beauty and greatness that she witnessed in other dimensions empowered her to face the evil with a peaceful heart. Even in the most critical moments, she never thought of death nor developed fear, and she strongly believed that she would break through the hardships and regain her freedom.

In 2001, Ms. Fan managed to come to the U.S. Since then, on the Internet, she often saw news of the death of her friends, reminding her of the suffering that she had gone through. She then decided to use her paintbrush to describe her experiences, in order to help more people understand the truth of the persecution.

At the same time, the process of creating her artwork also strengthened her confidence. She said that she had witnessed the unyielding spirit of many fellow practitioners during the chaos of the persecution, and such scenes often came to mind, inspiring her to paint.

Ms. Wang Weixing said that as an artist, she can also sense the suffering of practitioners even though she wasn't persecuted in China. The work, "I want Daddy," was created based on the real story of Jane Dai's family. In the painting, she purposefully depicted in the eyes of the daughter the confusion, the sadness and the innocent hope that Daddy could one day come back. The broken wall, broken family... the innocent child has to sense the bitterness of life in such an early age.

"I seek for perfection in both real life and art. However, every pursuit of mine only resulted in broken pieces instead of perfection. After I started to practice Falun Gong, my understanding changed as my spirit and body both changed fundamentally. My view of the world also changed accordingly. I admired the Impressionist School in the past. Last year, I had a chance to go to Paris where I copied paintings in the Louvre for half a year. I reexamined every painting in the museum and truly sensed the sublimity of deities. Such perfection is unmatchable by any human figure. Cultivating Falun Dafa purified my body and spirit and led me to make breakthroughs in art," Ms. Wang said.

Most artworks displayed in this art exhibition are paintings. The common feature of all the artworks is that they are all works of Falun Dafa practitioners. Every painting employed traditional techniques and was created through the artists' personal experience and their hearts.

Art can't be separated from life and morality. Only through the uplifting of morality can humans eliminate the impure elements in art and create a better artistic realm.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioners from Atlanta were invited to take part in the 37^th Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Parade on December 31, 2004 and were warmly received. Nearly 100 organizations participated in the annual parade. A CBS TV affiliate also came to broadcast the event live.

Falun Gong practitioners' procession was grand. It included an exercise demonstration, float, graceful dance of celestial maidens, and a waist drum troupe that inspired people with enthusiasm and an imposing array of banners. The rhythmic and sonorous roll of drums moved people and awaked people's goodness. The melodious music that seemed to come from heaven purified people's hearts. When the procession passed by, thousands of spectators warmly applauded.

When practitioners' procession passed by the platform, the master of ceremony talked about the mind and body benefits of Falun Dafa as well as the persecution experienced in China.

After the parade concluded, upon seeing the Falun Gong practitioners wearing yellow uniforms, many spectators nodded and smiled to them.

I wish you the best for this special time of year. I also want to tell you about a tragic irony surrounding the holiday lights people put up this time of year.

My mom never wanted to put lights outside our house during the holidays and I used to have difficulties with her wishes. Now I hope no one puts lights up indoors or outdoors, because of what I learned recently:

"The small outdoor Christmas lights that adorn our homes this time of year are manufactured for the most part in slave labor camps operated by the Chinese military. William J. Murray, Chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition said this at The Epoch Times forum on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) at the National Press Club on December 21, my birthday. The forum was held to discuss commentaries published by The Epoch Times in both Chinese and English detailing the history, nature, and corruption of the CCP. Since their initial publication in Chinese in November, thousands of Chinese people have already renounced their party membership, including an Olympic medalist, a former high-level official, and a prominent painter.

Mr. Murray also said that many of the things made in China are also made in forced labor camps. Harry Wu, Executive Director of the Laogai [forced labor] Research Foundation, agrees with Mr. Murray about the manufacture of Christmas lights in China. Mr. Wu, who spent decades inside the camps, told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about the production of lights:

"Mr. Fu Shenqi is a prominent Chinese dissident who has been jailed many times for his public stance promoting democracy in China. He is an eyewitness to the manufacture of Christmas lights inside a Laogai factory. There is no market for Christmas lights inside China, a country where Christians are targeted and arrested for their beliefs. Christmas lights are for export. The US is almost 40% of China's export market, so it is reasonable to say that at least 40% of the Christmas lights are for America. We do not know under what brand these lights are sold. Or in what store the lights are sold. The American government must investigate this facility to determine the whole story.

"I believe no American would buy Christmas lights from China if they thought they came from the Laogai. I believe no American would buy artificial Christmas trees from China if they thought they came from the Laogai. The Free China Movement, a coalition of democracy dissidents said the same thing. According to Reuters, Joel Segal, an attorney with the movement, said "the group's next target was the Chinese government's use of forced labor to make colored light bulbs for Christmas decorations." Finally, here's the experience of Li Ying, a Falun Gong practitioner, documented by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong:

"We also had to make holiday lights. There were several different procedures for making them. One way was welding the two feet of the light bulb to the wire with a liquid chemical and tin. This had to be done in a room without airflow since wind would make the welding fail. June and July in Shanghai are the hottest months, yet we could not turn on the electric fan. There were nearly 100 people in the 60-square-meter room that was filled with smog and irritating smells. We felt dizzy and nauseated after staying in the room for a long time. There was another procedure for inspecting the lights. After working the whole day, we saw lights in front of our eyes. Our eyes were constantly tearing and our eyesight decreased dramatically. Everything we saw was fuzzy."

It is ironic that lights that are supposed to celebrate hope and freedom from slavery actually serve to perpetuate it. As I understand it, Christians put up lights in memory of the star that guided the wise men to Jesus. Jews often put up lights to celebrate Chanukah, the festival of light, which marks the liberation and rededication of the Jewish Temple and the overcoming of persecution by the Syrians.

As we celebrate the holidays, let us keep in mind the deeper significance of these times, such as freedom from spiritual or physical slavery; and let's do what we can to either end slavery or at least not support it with our purchases.

Everyone needs to know about the tragic irony that may lie behind the strings of lights we see around us. Give people the truth. Pass it on.

Ms. Wu Yuyun, in her 60s, was a retired teacher from Jiangmen City First Middle School of Guangdong Province. On April 29, 2001, she was arrested and sent to a brainwashing class. The class was supposed to last three months; however, since Ms. Wu refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong, she was held in the class for three additional months. After six months of detention, the authorities had to release her, although they failed to get her to renounce Falun Gong. On June 1, 2002, Ms. Wu was again arrested and sent to another brainwashing class. After one month, she returned home without giving up her belief in Falun Gong.

On August 14, 2003, Ms. Wu was again arrested. This time she was sent to a brainwashing class held by the provincial government. Her family members were not allowed to visit her.

After being repeatedly arrested and subjected to brainwashing, Ms. Wu's health deteriorated and she passed away in September 2004.

(Clearwisdom.net) Professor Mr. Zhao Jindong, who works at the English Department of Hengshui Normal College, Hebei Province, has been using email to let more people know the facts about Falun Dafa and the persecution for quite some time. Recently, the police department in Hengshui City, using its Internet monitoring tools, found out about Mr. Zhao's activities and arrested him. Right now, Mr. Zhao is being held in the Hengshui City Detention Center.

Due to his practice of Falun Gong, Mr. Zhao has been arrested on several occasions . The National Security Section of the Police Department in Hengshui City have seriously persecuted Mr. Zhao both mentally and physically, but Mr. Zhao has never wavered in his determination to assist Teacher and validate Dafa . He was sentenced to one year in prison when he was arrested last time. However, because Mr. Zhao was a professor at the Hengshui Normal College (Hengshui Normal College is the only higher education institute in Hengshui City), and because Mr. Zhao had been a somewhat influential figure in society, his prison term was changed to one year on probation. Now he is being detained again. Reliable sources reveal that the National Security Section of the Police Department in Hengshui City is planning to escalate the persecution against Mr. Zhao. This time the prison term will be three to five years, or even longer.

Recently, the Police Department in Hengshui City is carrying out a campaign called "serious crackdown on crimes within 100 days." Falun Gong practitioners are being violently persecuted as a result. Mr. Zhao has been arrested, and some other Falun Dafa practitioners from Wugiang County, Shen County, Jing County, Anping County and other locations have also been arrested.

(Clearwisdom.net) Zhou Xiangmei, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Linyi City, Shandong Province was tortured to death in June 2003 by the 610 Office in Linyi City and her company, Agricultural Credit of Nanfang Town, Lanshan District, Linyi City. The following describes the current situation of her son, Li Ning.

Li Ning's father, Li Yongxin , was born in January 1958. He worked for Shangdong Province, Linyi City Transportation. He kept practicing Falun Dafa, and now is now being held and persecuted in the Shangdong Provincial Jail. Li Ning's mother, Zhou Xiangmei , was born on April 2, 1957. She worked for Agricultural Credit in Nanfang Town, Lanshan District, Linyi City, Shangdong Province.

Li Ning's parents improved quickly after starting practice in 1995. They treated people around them very well, following the principles of " Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." Many people began practicing Dafa because of his parents.

Li Ning's father was very serious in learning, practicing and cultivating. Several times when he found a large sum of money in his bus, he returned it to the owners. He also refused to be compensated by the owners and told them, "I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. Returning what I found is what I should do. Our Master taught us to give up the attachment to fame and money." Li Ning's mother was also a steadfast practitioner. She was kind, sincere, and everyone treated her like a close friend.

Ever since 1999, the 610 Office has harassed Li Ning's parents many times because they persisted in practicing Falun Dafa. Personnel from the Office unlawfully broke into Li Ning's home to search, took Li Ning's mother into custody within her company, and confined her in a retirees' apartment to limit her personal freedom. In early 2003, Li Ning's father was sentenced to ten years in a prison in Jinan City, Shandong Province. Li Ning's mother passed away on May 21, 2003.

Li Ning has been living with his aunt since May 2003. He has not been doing well since his mother's death. He misses his parents very much. Li Ning's aunt doesn't have a stable job, and supporting her own three children, plus the high cost of education makes life very difficult for her. And now that she has to take care of Li Ning, she indeed has become overburdened.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioners from Zhengzhou and surrounding areas are being illegally detained in Baimiao Forced Labor Camp. Currently, four Dafa practitioners are being detained there as part of Squad 3 (previously Squad 5). They are Mr. Fu Zhenyong (61 years old, a retired worker from Zhengzhou City's Coal & Electricity Mechanical Plant), Mr. Zhao Shucan (33 years old, an employee of Xinzheng City's Bureau of Commodities), Mr. Li Leiming (34 years old, a graduate student) and Mr. Li Jinzhong (37 years old, a resident in Gongyi). Details of their mistreatment follow:

Around the end of February or the beginning of March 2004, policemen from the Guancheng District Police Department of Zhengzhou City illegally took Mr. Xu Xiaoguo to Baimiao Forced Labor Camp. Li Xichuan, a retired guard from the 610 Office who was reappointed to work at the forced labor camp because he had taken an active part in the persecution of Falun Dafa admitted him, although he knew that Xu Xiaoguo's physical condition didn't meet the qualifying criteria for detention.

In the forced labor camp, Xu Xiaoguo refused to give up his beliefs and maintained righteous thoughts and actions, and he firmly requested his release. After his request was refused, he went on a hunger strike to protest. About one week into his hunger strike, the guards tortured him by force-feeding him with a concentrated saline solution. The responsible guards were Song Yanchen, (currently the deputy director of the Education Section) who brutally tortured many Falun Dafa practitioners for personal gain, and Gao, the director for the Prisoner Activities Section.

Song and Gao ordered four criminal inmates on night duty to force-feed him with concentrated saline solution after director Hou encouraged them to use this method and officially sanctioned it. In compliance with Song and Gao's orders, the criminal inmates pinned Xu Xiaoguo to the floor in the office, immobilized him by stepping on his hands and feet, kneeling on his chest, and blindfolding him with an old rag. Then Song used screwdrivers and pliers to pry Xu Xiaoguo's mouth open, pinched his nose to prevent him from breathing, and poured lots of salt into his nose and mouth. He then poured a glass of concentrated saline solution into Xu Xiaoguo's open mouth. In the process, his lungs were also filled with salt water. Xu Xiaoguo's vocal cords and lungs were severely damaged, causing him to cough up yellow phlegm for several months. His voice has also become hoarse.

The director of Squad 3 Lu Shuangfu, who was previously a guard in Squad 1 and persecuted Dafa practitioners even more viciously after he got a promotion, ordered the criminal inmates to persecute Dafa practitioners. Consequently, criminal Wei Wenhui, the leader of the labor team, prevented Xu Xiaoguo from sleeping for four continuous days and nights. On the fourth day, Xu Xiaoguo questioned Lu Shuangfu directly about the inmate's abuse. Lu pretended to be surprised and asked, "Really? How come I didn't know about this?" Then he put the blame on the leader of another squad who had nothing to do with the matter. When Lu saw that his approach yielded no results, he ordered two new guards, Wang Weidong and Wang Dongdong, to attack Xu Xiaoguo with electric batons in order to try to force him to renounce Falun Gong.

Lu and Squad Leader He Xianghong eventually decided that the two new guards were not brutal enough. They seized the electric batons and shocked Xu Xiaoguo's head and armpits. They shocked him for a long time, until his flesh was burnt.

Since July 20, 1999, Quan Peijun, an employee of Shangjie District Aluminum Factory in Zhengzhou City, has been illegally detained twice in Wanqingshanzhuang Brainwashing Center and Baimiao Forced Labor Camp, because he persisted in his belief in the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance."

At the beginning of 2003, he was illegally sent to Baimiao Forced Labor Camp for the second time, and the guards in Squad 5 (currently re-named Squad 3) struck his face with electric batons. The flesh on many parts of his body started to fester, and his face bore many bloody marks. The guards involved in the torture included Li Xichuan, Yang Shaofeng (Squad Leader), Song Yanchen, Guo Wuyi and Yu Baohong.

On the night of April 24, 2003, the guards, ostensibly acting on orders, electrically shocked Quan Peijun and other practitioners again because Quan Peijun firmly refused to be "transformed." In order to avoid having to individually bear the consequences of their transgressions in the future, all the guards were required participate in the persecution that night.

At the beginning of 2004, after former guard Lu Shuangfu was appointed director, the persecution escalated further. Mr. Quan Peijun wrote down his upright understanding on the required weekly self-examination report, which made Lu very angry. He ordered the incarcerated drug addicts to create pressure and difficulties for Quan Peijun both in his daily life and when doing slave labor. However they still could not force him to yield. Lu then said to Quan Peijun, "If you still refuse to be transformed, I won't even let you sleep." Quan Peijun sternly replied, "If you dare to violate the law in this way, I'll immediately report you to your superiors." Just like before, Lu's threats failed.

In June 2004, after Lu had once again failed to force Quan Peijun to renounce Falun Gong, he said, "I'll get those drug addicts to punish you." Quan Peijun was left alone in the room, while Lu and Guo Wuyi, a guard notorious for brutality, called together several drug addicts and told them, "You are free to beat him as you please." They thought that many of them would immediately attack Quan Peijun. However, only the leader of the labor team Wei Wenhui beat Quan Peijun after being pressured by the guards. One of the addicts privately said, "I would not do such a crazy thing."

In August 2004, when his term had already expired, the Baimiao Forced Labor Camp and Shangjie District Political and Judiciary Section illegally transferred Quan Peijun to the Wanqingshanzhuang Brainwashing Center in Zhengzhou for further persecution

The guards in Squad 3 had the prisoners slander Falun Dafa and abuse practitioners by threatening to extend their terms. Many of the prisoners realized that Falun Dafa is good and that practitioners are good people, but due to the threats and incentives, they acted against their conscience and committed crimes against Dafa.

Squad 3 took advantage of the laws that favor corrupt behavior and allowed bad things to be done to good people. Between April and July 2004, Squad 3 processed and packed at least one hundred tons of fake pesticides and sold them. No one will ever know how many farmers were cheated. In order to produce the fake pesticides, the guards in Squad 3 forced the prisoners to work throughout the night. Everyday, we were assigned huge workloads and had to work over 18 hours. Beatings to force us to complete the work quickly took place daily.

They forced everyone to work excessively in order to torture Dafa practitioners both mentally and physically. Due to so-called "production problems," many Dafa practitioners, including Fu Zhenyong, Zhao Shucan, Zhu Yunlong, Hou Jinyou, Xu Xiaoguo and Quan Peijun, were beaten by the guards and drug addicts during this period of time.

We need to tear off the false mask of "education, reform and salvation via a gentle breeze and a mild rain" that the Baimiao Forced Labor Camp guards present to the outside world, to expose this den of evil.

(Clearwisdom.net) Several years ago the Shanghai Bar Association gave oral notification to all of its attorneys, forbidding them from defending Falun Gong practitioners in court. The penalty for defending Falun Gong practitioners is an immediate cancellation of their attorney's license.

Because I had to hire an attorney for a Falun Gong practitioner, I went to a famous law office for consultation. When I asked which chapter of the law had been violated if a Falun Gong practitioner distributed truth-clarification materials, one attorney claimed that it was article 300 of the criminal code, though he couldn't elaborate on what it was. I also asked, "Which legal document of our country defines Falun Gong as a cult? Could you please show it to me?" The attorney replied, "There is no such legal document." I then said, "Falun Gong is good. Falun Gong advocates Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. How can it be considered a cult?" Another attorney who had a doctorate degree answered, "According to the law, what you say is right. However, the authorities' power is above the law in China. Therefore, it is hard to say." I asked again, "In your words, you are not able to legally defend Falun Gong practitioners." They responded, "No one, neither the attorney's office nor an attorney would dare to defend a Falun Gong practitioner, because attorneys have to earn money to support their families."

(Clearwisdom.net) Around May or June of 2000, an official from Wei County, Hebei Province was chatting with several friends. When they talked about "exposing and criticizing" Falun Gong, this officer said angrily: "How can they expose and criticize Falun Gong? A book with about 100 pages issued from the higher authorities sold for 150 yuan. A Falun Gong book with more than 300 pages only sells for 12 yuan. Yet, they are accusing Falun Gong of swindling people!"

It turned out that this official had just attended a conference about "exposing and criticizing" Falun Gong in the county office. Each participant of the conference was forced to pay 150 yuan for a book that contained a collection of articles slandering Falun Gong, and no receipt was given to the attendees. They said that the book distributed from higher authorities required no receipt when sold. He felt that his superiors had swindled him.

Since the suppression of Falun Gong by Jiang's regime began, an official from Wei County, Hebei Province remained upright and kind. He used his conscience and wisdom to protect many Falun Gong practitioners in his working unit. At a Party gathering, he talked about what he did for his close friend. His friend said, "You are doing the right thing but it's very risky. If Jiang's attack dogs learn what you did, you would lose your position, get sent to jail, and even your family might be implicated!"

He smiled calmly, "I know. I feel that we should all act conscientiously. The Falun Gong practitioners are kind people, and we all know that. We also know that they are key personnel in the working unit. I need them. If they really did something wrong, I would have them arrested, but they have done no such thing."

A couple in their 70s from Wei County, Hebei Province has been practicing Falun Gong. They were forced to live on the streets and could not return home because of the persecution. After many difficulties, they rented a house and helped the landlord to look after it.

One day, when the landlord needed to move some wood in the courtyard, the couple came to help. The lady held the smaller end while the gentleman held the larger end. The landlord tried to dissuade them from doing so, but they insisted on helping to move the wood until it was all loaded into the truck. The landlord was quite moved.

After they lived together for a while, they started to understand and trust each other. One day, the couple told the landlord, "We are Falun Gong practitioners. We are sorry that we did not tell you before."

The landlord laughed, "You Falun Gong practitioners are kind people indeed. I guessed that myself because I am the person responsible for handling Falun Gong practitioners in my working unit. All the Falun Gong practitioners are good people." He looked at the old couple and said sincerely, "From now on, you can live here without worry, and you don't need to pay any more rent."

A driver in Sichuan Province protected Dafa disciples during a large-scale persecution action against Falun Gong by remaining silent about the practitioners who were clarifying the truth. This righteous driver was recently very fortunate when he was involved in a serious traffic accident but suffered no injuries.

On the evening of October 1, 2004, on a mountainous tourist route in Sichuan, this driver drove a new passenger vehicle over the edge of a cliff more than 60 meters high. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle rolled a dozen times down the hillside before finally hitting bottom. The vehicle was completely destroyed, but to the surprise of everyone who saw it, the driver emerged unscathed, with no bleeding or broken bones.

According to the driver's account of the incident, when he jerked the steering wheel to avoid a pedestrian, the front wheel hit a roadblock by the side of the road. The airbag engaged and knocked him unconscious. After coming to, he found himself in a hospital. Because he was not injured, he was released from the hospital after a very short time. The local traffic police and media called this case a miracle.

A bureau level leader in Beijing is a distant relative of a Dafa disciple. Shortly after the persecution began, he learned the truth about Falun Dafa and ever since has actively resisted the unjust persecution to protect Dafa disciples.

Whenever Jiang's followers came to the work units under his charge to arrest practitioners, he would firmly oppose them and tell them righteously and sternly, "You will have to arrest me first. I am Falun Gong, 'Truth-Compassion-Forbearance' has been written all over my body!"

A local Dafa disciple's daughter-in-law once opposed her mother-in-law's continued practice of Falun Gong because of government pressure and deceit. This leader told her, "Do not oppose your mother-in-law. Falun Gong practitioners are all very kind!"

A Dafa disciple's younger sister has personally witnessed the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong, and has seen the suffering of her sibling over several years. Instead of being frightened, she became even more clear-headed in distinguishing good from evil, right from wrong. This year, on her own initiative, she said she wanted to practice Falun Gong and clarified the truth to her work unit. She presented Dafa books to other people, which had a very positive effect.

After watching "Under Wind and Rain, Traveling over the World" complied by Dafa disciples, a third-year university student said to the teacher who brought him the truth-clarifying VCD, "You are really great."

(Clearwisdom.net) My cousin's daughter-in-law had a 7-and-a-half pound beautiful baby girl on September 28, 2004(i.e. August 15th Mid-autumn Festival of Chinese lunar calendar). But the day after her birth, the baby's face suddenly turned pale and she had difficulty breathing. After being diagnosed at the No.1 Hospital of a medical college, the doctor said the baby had inherited a congenital heart disease and would only live for three days. The doctor said he could do nothing at all for the baby. This type of heart disease is the most serious for a newborn baby, as blood from the arteries flows into the veins, and the lungs, liver and heart become swollen. The baby's mother had also previously suffered from a congenital heart disease. At the age of 5, she had major surgery but since then her condition had become stable. The baby's grandmother also suffered from a congenital heart disease. And two of the mother's siblings, the grandmother's first two children, had died of this disease. Thus the family was mentally prepared for the worst.

After hearing the news, the day after the baby's birth, I sent righteous thoughts, holding one palm erect, and said to the child's yuanshen (main consciousness): "If you came for the Fa, only Dafa can save you." Then I immediately told the entire family of the many miraculous stories of Dafa Disciples finding ways out of desperate situations. On the fifth day, I instructed the child's aunt, who also practiced Falun Gong, to say directly into the child's ear: "You came here for the Fa! Falun Dafa is great!"

On the eighth day, the doctor said that there was nothing more that he could do for the baby so he advised the family to take her home. He said that without medicine and oxygen, the baby would probably be dead before the night was out and that the family should make preparations for the funeral.

As soon as they got home they played Dafa music and Master Li's Fa lectures for the baby. Gradually the baby began to open her eyes. Soon she began nursing, then smiling and her face became rosy. Her grandmother said that her condition was even better than that of her aunt when she was that age. They called the baby "Xiao Fatong (Little Fa Baby)"

The baby is over 90 days old now. She likes to listen to Dafa music and Master's Fa lectures. She looks completely like other normal children of her age. The child's grandmother came to listen to the girl's heartbeats, pressing one ear against the child's chest. She has tried several times and has found none of the symptoms that she observed with her own children who had died.

Now, the child's grandmother, grandmother-in-law and my cousin's aunt have all started to practice Falun Gong. The whole family continually listens to Dafa music and Master's Fa lectures.

Later we enlightened that we should think with a different mentality about this situation. The child came to the world suffering for the entire family. When the dozens of my relatives and neighbors, including the relatives in my hometown, learned about how this child was saved miraculously from death, they were stunned. When they heard about how this was accomplished, it caused them to think deeply. Everyone who knows now has a new understanding about Dafa, and this has had the effect of eliminating the poison that Jiang and his gang have put in their minds. As a result of this baby's tribulation; many people have stepped onto the path of cultivation practice. Xiao Fatong has brought the gift of life to our friends and family. It is through this child's experience of being rescued from death that Master has saved our entire family.

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Chen Gongyu. I am a 50-year-old worker in Hubei Province. I started to practice Falun Dafa in April 1998. Dafa improved many aspects of my life, and even my family members have benefited a lot.

I have two sons. The older son has suffered with epilepsy since he was very young; the younger son is studying in high school now. I have not worked outside the home for many years. Because of poor health, I stayed at home and took care of the children. My husband's salary is our family's only income.

I was a kind and hard-working person; yet in the face of everyday problems in our family, my character changed. My husband was heavily addicted to smoking and drinking; my son's epilepsy required a lot of money for medical treatments; I was overloaded with all the household chores, and I lived with constant worry and fatigue. As time went by, the conflicts in our family became worse. I frequently felt that the heavens had treated me unfairly. Worn out by the hard work and feeling depressed, I contracted bronchitis. One time, during a fit of anger, I immediately coughed up blood and had to be taken to the hospital.

In April 1998, I started to practice Falun Dafa after a friend introduced it to me. After a few months, my health improved a lot. Through studying Zhuan Falun, I came to understand that all my tribulations had karmic reasons behind them. As a result, I tore apart the divorce application that I had been saving for many years. All my previous worries left me. I had hope in my heart and felt I was living in bliss.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime started to slander the Falun Dafa teachings and Teacher Li through constant negative propaganda on the TV and radio and in newspapers, which deceived numerous kind people. However, under the evil pressure, my determination to cultivate Dafa did not change.

I have been illegally detained twice. The first time was on October 28, 2000. Liao Xuesheng, a government official from the county Police Department and a member of the county 610 Office, ordered Mr. Zhou, Chief of Xinqu Police Station, to arrest me at midnight. Zhou led several police and illegally put me into the County No. 2 Detention Center. The perpetrators were afraid that practitioners would go to appeal in Beijing, and they claimed, "Practicing Falun Gong is a crime." After being held for a week, the persecutors tried to force me to write "Guarantee Statements" -- they threatened that if I did not write the statements, they would detain me for a long period of time. Several other practitioners that were also in the detention center and I were all solid in our belief in Dafa. We persisted in Fa study and cultivation. The perpetrators could not deter us, and so they released us unconditionally.

In order to speak out a word of justice for Falun Dafa, we made a lot of truth-clarifying materials and distributed them in the area. At that time, my mind was pure and I had only one thought: to save kind-hearted people.

I was arrested for the second time on March 17, 2001, when a practitioner who had been forced by the persecution to leave her home and was traveling from place to place stayed at my home for two days. Together we made some truth-clarifying materials. Before we had a chance to distribute them, the fellow practitioner said that she had some business to take care of outside. She told me she would be back for dinner. Around 3:30 in the afternoon, soon after she left, five people from Xinqu Police Station came to my home. I talked to them with a calm mind, and nothing else happened. Before they stepped out the door, I began thinking about how they had not discovered anything, and thus the attachment of zealotry appeared. As the last person was stepping out the door, he noticed a piece of photocopy paper with some stains of ink on it. The policeman said, "This piece of paper is the same kind of paper on which the (truth-clarifying) fliers were printed." As a result, the other four police officers came back in and took a closer look at the paper.

I suddenly realized that my loophole had been taken advantage of by the evil. The police called the local 610 Office and Liao Xuesheng from the 610 Office arrived at my home. They pulled and dragged me out of my home and told me to go with them to the police station and tell them what I had been doing. They closed the front door and ransacked my home searching for the fliers. They found the fellow practitioner's luggage and took 500 yuan cash and some fliers from her suitcase. At that critical moment, I was worrying about the safety of the materials (at that time, we were very short of truth-clarifying materials) and the safety of the fellow practitioner. I had only one thought in mind then: "Teacher, please protect the fellow practitioner from being arrested by the evil. I would rather suffer more." The police asked my husband whether anyone had visited us recently.

As they were interrogating my husband, I grabbed the fliers, ran upstairs, and threw them from our balcony onto my neighbor's balcony. The police followed me and caught me on the balcony, but did not notice the materials. They thought someone had escaped from the balcony, so they searched nearby. Afterwards, they took away some Falun Dafa books and tried to take me to the police station. Because it was getting late, I knew that the fellow practitioner would be returning soon. In order to protect her, I had no choice but to go with the police. In the police van, I asked Teacher Li to protect the fellow practitioner. The guards took me to Xinqu Police Station, where Chen Peide, Chief of the county Police Department, personally interrogated me. I did not reveal anything. Since it was getting very late, Chen had someone illegally monitor my home, while I was taken to the detention center and held for 2 months.

According to my family, the fellow practitioner came back 15 minutes after we left. The police told my husband that if any practitioner came after they left, he could turn the practitioner in and in return, I would be released. They also told my son that they would give him 2,000 yuan for reporting the arrival of other practitioners at my home. My son refused to do any such thing. When the fellow practitioner returned, my husband told her to leave immediately (my husband knew practitioners were good people), telling her that I had just been arrested. A few minutes after she left, the police came back and stayed for two days and two nights. During their stay, the guards searched my home again and found a chest left at my place by another fellow practitioner. Inside the chest they found 500 yuan, which they used to buy some food and drinks from a restaurant and so enjoyed a feast at my home late at night. When my husband found out what they had done, he scolded the perpetrators and drove them out of our home.

After I was arrested, Liao Xuesheng tried to tempt me with money and asked me to help him look for practitioners that had been forced to leave their homes and move from place to place to avoid harassment and further persecution. I refused to help him. Knowing that my family is poor, Liao tried to tempt my husband by promising him money if he could get me to write a "Guarantee Statement." My husband knew he could not persuade me to give up my beliefs so he fetched my parents (in their 70s) and asked them to try to persuade me. I realized that there were two paths in front of me: one for a deity and one for a human being. I chose the path toward godhood.

I said to my parents in front of the police: "Practicing Falun Gong is not wrong; the government made a mistake. I hope you won't let them deceive you." My mother went down on her knees and begged me. I said, "This will not make me change my mind." Like this, I experienced another test of life and death and felt myself improve. My whole body felt light and free from any pressure - it was a wonderful feeling. I love my parents, and my determination will bring them eternal bliss. Had I given in to the evil, I would have truly harmed them.

Before I was detained, I was not spending much time studying Fa, and there was also a lot of interference (that kept me from studying more). As a result, I had not memorized much Fa. In that regard, I fell short of what my fellow practitioners were doing. However, I often thought about two poems Teacher wrote:

Mighty Virtue

Dafa never leaves the body,
Heart contains Zhen-Shan-Ren;
A great Arhat in the world,
Spirits and ghosts fear the most. (Hong Yin)

True Nature Revealed

Steadfastly cultivate Dafa, the will unflinching
The raising of levels is what's fundamental
In the face of tests one's true nature is revealed
Achieve Consummation, becoming a Buddha, Dao, or God (Essentials for Further Advancement II)

One day in late April, while some guards were interrogating me they said: "The government is against Falun Gong and calls it an [slanderous term omitted], do you know that? Why do you still want to practice it?" I said, "I know what the government says, but the government is mistaken. Falun Gong is a righteous cultivation way." The guards had nothing to say, and they left feeling a bit embarrassed.

A few days later, my two younger brothers came to visit me. They told me that my children were left at home with no one to look after them, that my husband had no means to bail me out of jail, and that he felt a lot of pressure. Through their eyes, I saw both their love and hatred towards me. My heart was moved (by sentimentality). My family wanted me to only practice at home, which in their eyes would not hurt Teacher Li or be against Falun Dafa, and to stop contacting my fellow practitioners and going outside to tell people about the true nature of Falun Gong and about the persecution. Looking at their helpless eyes, my heart was moved. Suddenly, Teacher Li's words sounded in my ears,

"Dafa is solemn, and cultivation practice is a serious matter. A person--no matter who he is--must himself pay for all of the bad things he has done in the world. I do not want to see a single student fall, but I definitely don't want unqualified disciples, either." ("Drive Out Interference" Essentials for Further Advancement II)

I realized that even writing a few words was cooperating with the evil and disrespecting Teacher. I was in the right. Guard Jiang said, "It won't do if you only sign the guarantee, you need to write a few sentences (disparaging Falun Dafa)." I immediately said to Jiang, "I will not do that, my release has to be unconditional." Just then, my family members left in disappointment. Subsequently, all of the persecutors' efforts to "reform" me failed, and I was unconditionally released two months later.

After I returned home, I worried about the practitioners still in the detention center. When Teacher's new articles arrived, I would hide the articles in packages containing food or daily consumables and send them to the practitioners in the detention center. After doing this for a long period of time, the guards discovered the hidden articles. The detention center then made it a rule that detained practitioners could not receive anything from outside practitioners. However, I sent forth righteous thoughts and asked Teacher's law body to help me; thus, every time, I was able to send Teacher's articles to the practitioners in ingenious ways.

Regarding the hard financial situation of my family, I still have attachments that are yet to be eliminated. As a result, I lost many opportunities to improve my xinxing. I will cherish the opportunity to cultivate more and grasp every chance to clarify the truth and save sentient beings with righteous thoughts. Let us all remember Teacher's words:

"Cultivation is hard. It's hard in that even when a terrible calamity strikes, even when evil madly persecutes, and even when your life is at stake, you still have to be able to steadfastly continue on your path of cultivation without letting anything in human society interfere with the steps you take on your path of cultivation." ("Path" Essentials for Further Advancement II)

Because my level is limited, please point out anything incorrect, with compassion.

After reading Master's new article "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People", fellow practitioner A and I decided that we should go to Beijing to clarify the truth, and we asked fellow practitioner B to go with us.

After we got off the train, we went straight to Tiananmen Square. We started from Tiananmen Square, walked along Fuyou Street (the place where "April 25" originated) and sent righteous thoughts to eliminate all the dark minions and rotten demons. After we finished, we checked in to a hotel. We were exhausted after walking for the whole afternoon and we had sore feet. We took a short break after sending righteous thoughts. Then at night, we distributed truth-clarifying materials along the streets and in the hotels while sending righteous thoughts. Our state was so righteous that we were able to smoothly distribute the truth-clarifying materials. When practitioner A and I finished one hotel and got ready to enter into another, practitioner B thought it was not safe and did not agree to go and he started to argue with practitioner A. Practitioner A and I thought practitioner B was thinking too much about his safety and did not put saving sentient beings as priority number one. Practitioner B was upset. I had known practitioner B for a long time and this was the first time that I had ever seen him angry.

I thought that it was not a coincidence that we argued in this dimension. In other dimensions, it was the evil beings that caused the separation and destroyed our coordination so we could not better utilize the whole body's power to save sentient beings. We were not considerate of our fellow practitioner's thoughts and feelings so the evil beings took advantage of our human attachments and created the conflict between us. Practitioner A and I gave up our point of view and distributed the truth-clarifying materials along the resident houses next to the street.

When we got back to our hotel, we found that we had only distributed half of the materials that we had brought with us. We discussed the situation and thought how to distribute the truth-clarifying materials more effectively. Practitioner B and I thought we should put together the printed materials and the small red card that said, "Falun Dafa is good" so as to be more efficient. We did not think we should distribute the red card separately. I personally thought that the small card alone would not have very much impact because the people who have been poisoned would not have a chance to learn the facts and they might throw it away. Practitioner A thought that the materials were so limited that if we combined them then the area of distribution would be smaller. I thought that we should not look at the quantity, but look at the quality while we distribute the materials. I thought we should not only clarify the truth but also clearly clarify the truth; that it is more important to make sure sentient beings truly understand the truth.

Practitioner A did not agree so we put this aside temporarily. Practitioner B went out to distribute materials alone. After he came back, he told us what occurred while he was distributing the materials. A resident saw practitioner B while he was distributing the truth-clarifying materials and asked him what kind of advertisement it was and he started to realize it was a truth-clarifying card about Falun Gong. From this incident, we could see that it would be more effective if the written materials were given out together with the card. After practitioner A heard this, he realized his stubbornness and agreed with us. We were no longer separate, which was what the evil beings were most scared of. So once again we formed an unshakable unified body.

During the truth-clarifying distribution period, we had some disagreements. However, we all took the Fa as priority and did not cling to our own personal thoughts. This is the uplifting process and the process of moving forward according to the Fa principles.

We hope that fellow practitioners who have not stepped forward will step forward and that we will all do our best to do The Three Things that Master requested us to do and accomplish the prehistoric vows of saving sentient beings. Due to my limited level, fellow practitioners, please point out my mistakes with mercy.

(Clearwisdom.net) The fifth time I went to Beijing to validate the Fa in November 2001, I was arrested, sent to a detention center and eventually to a forced labor camp. While I was in the detention center, nothing could sway my determination to cultivate, but in the forced labor camp it was a different story and my focus was diverted. With Teacher's hints, I quickly became clear-headed, and with Teacher watching over me, I continually raised my level as a practitioner through my involvement in the anti-persecution activities that followed. With righteous thoughts I successfully walked out of the forced labor camp. When I later reflected upon the progress of my development in raising my level as a practitioner during the past year, I felt that I had made significant progress. At the time I also had a vague notion that I was able to progress so quickly because I was being persecuted.

After returning to work, I persistently rejected everything that the evil forces mandated, and at the same time, sought opportunities to clarify the facts to people who had been misled. In the process, the fear of being caught and re-sent to the forced labor camp took its hold on me, and my acts of clarifying the facts to people became not so very open or straightforward.

One evening, two months after I had left the forced labor camp, the police again detained me and tried to send me back to the forced labor camp. During the previous two months, I had been diligently studying the Fa and reading articles about practitioners' righteous thoughts and righteous actions, so I was prepared with some idea of how to face the persecution. While in the detention center, I searched for my own omissions and discovered that my fear of being caught had created a loophole for the old forces to exploit. Every day I frequently sent forth righteous thoughts, both to negate the arrangements made by the old forces and to clear out all elements that had caused the persecution to occur. I recited the Fa attentively and took every opportunity to clarify the facts to almost all the people who went in and out of the detention center. During my interrogations, I would recite from one of Teacher's articles, "Indestructible righteous faith in the cosmos's Truth forms benevolent Dafa disciples' rock-solid, Diamond-Like Bodies, it frightens all evil, and the light of Truth it emanates makes the unrighteous elements in all beings' thoughts disintegrate. However strong the righteous thoughts are, that's how great the power is." ("Also in a Few Words" in Essentials for Further Advancement II). Alternatively, I would send forth righteous thoughts to clear away the evil factors that were manipulating the police, or I would clarify the facts to expose the evil forces. The police became weak while I maintained very strong righteous thoughts. One of them said, "Don't say any more, we'll be afraid to be here if you speak any more."

Finally they asked me to speak my mind about Falun Dafa, and I said, "I will sign my name for repeating 'Falun Dafa is good!' ten times." A month later, I left the detention center and I know that it was Teacher who protected me so that I could deny the arrangements of the old forces.

After leaving the detention center, I was able to clarify the facts to people in an open and straightforward manner under all circumstances. Somehow I still had a feeling that I was able to raise my level as a practitioner at a much faster pace while I was being persecuted.

A year later, I was again arrested and detained in the detention center. They tried to return me to forced labor camp, and I again denied the old forces' arrangements and walked out of the detention center after a month. When the police later sent me to the brainwashing center, I loudly shouted out, "Falun Dafa is good!" in the brainwashing center. I clarified the facts to the people and regularly sent forth righteous thoughts. They dared not keep me there, so I left the brainwashing center after only ten days. Afterwards, I was returned to the brainwashing center two more times, and both times I kept sending forth righteous thoughts daily and clarifying the facts. The police didn't have much choice but to let me go.

I studied Teacher's Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference and, at the same time, use it to look at my experience in validating the Fa. I would memorize the paragraphs or parts that I had difficulty comprehending. The following are my personal understandings:

"When you encounter ordeals during your cultivation, you have got to cultivate yourself and look at yourself--that doesn't mean acknowledging the ordeals arranged by the old forces and trying to do well amidst the ordeals they've arranged, that's not the case." (Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference)

When I verified my experience with what Teacher had said, I realized that at the beginning of my journey to validate the Fa, my determination was just as strong and steady as it is now. The difference was that I initially acknowledged the ordeals arranged by the old forces and was helplessly enduring the persecution, and that was a major problem.

"It's not that you're cultivating amidst the ordeals they created. Rather, you are to walk your own path well while not acknowledging them, not even acknowledging the elimination of their ordeals' manifestations." (Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference)

This is how our Teacher has arranged for us to cultivate.

2. I realized the fact that being arrested twice more after leaving the forced labor camp was exactly what the old forces had planned. I persisted in validating the Fa with unyielding faith and without being swayed by any human notion, which helped me to reject the plan set by the old forces and to walk away from the ordeals. Nevertheless, I fell into the scheme set by the old forces, and was therefore persecuted. Thus, I didn't do well on the cultivation path designed by Teacher. Teacher said, "We're fundamentally negating all of their things," (Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference) and that's the only way to walk well on the cultivation path.

3. Teacher said, "What we need to do is completely negate the old forces." (Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference) During our cultivation, it is not sufficient that we are unafraid of being arrested, being persecuted or being able to negate the old forces while being persecuted; we should furthermore "negate even the very emergence of the old forces," "don't even acknowledge their existence" and "not even acknowledging the elimination of their ordeals' manifestations." (Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference) Teacher asked us to establish our mighty virtue while negating and eliminating the old forces.

4. We must acquire a more thorough understanding of the Fa through studying it in order to achieve what our Teacher requires, and that is to completely negate the old forces. For example, for a long time, I believed that I could raise my level as a practitioner much faster while being persecuted, and I now understand that kind of thinking was the reason for my multiple arrests (of course there were other reasons as well.) There was a practitioner who said, "This is a good thing" when we talked about the capture of other practitioners by the police. Not long after that, this practitioner was also arrested. In my opinion, this was due to the practitioner's deficiency in understanding the Fa principle and knowingly acknowledging the old forces.

5. It would require us to begin examining our each and every single thought if we wanted to fundamentally negate the arrangements made by the old forces. In the past, the old forces have pre-arranged each and every thought; so today they aim at our each and every thought to arrange their interference. If we think according to what has been pre-arranged by the old forces, then we will fall into their trap. They persecute practitioners because our thoughts and actions were consistent with their arrangements. Therefore, we must straighten out our thoughts and actions according to the principle of the Fa, and thereafter negate the old forces completely.

6. Teacher said, "The whole process of cultivation is a process of constantly getting rid of human attachments." (Zhuan Falun) In our cultivation process, we must remember well Teacher's teaching that we should always look within whenever encountering problems, and that if one of our attachments is the root of the problem then we should purge the attachment through studying the Fa. If we were all able to do that, will persecution exist any longer?

7. Teacher said, "During the tribulation, you've taken the persecution of Dafa disciples by evil beings in this cosmos using bad people to be human acts." (In Fa-Rectification Your Thoughts Have to be Righteous, Not Human) The idea that we would not be persecuted or be persecuted less if we didn't do as much Fa-rectification work is consistent with what the old forces have arranged. These thoughts lead us to become timid and tentative in handling things or put too much consideration into how "not to be persecuted," and this is a very dangerous situation.

8. Teacher said, "Have righteous thoughts! However you think something should be handled, just go ahead and do it, and when you run into problems you will naturally know how to solve them. If your righteous thoughts are strong, everything will work out smoothly and it's guaranteed you'll do well. "(Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference) Therefore if we handle all the problems encountered with righteous thoughts while validating the Fa, we can then completely negate the old forces.

9. Teacher has said that to cultivate at a high level is to choose to follow the Fa principles. In our deepest thoughts, we can only choose to follow the path that Teacher has arranged for us without acknowledging the path arranged by the old forces. Under this premise, by studying the Fa diligently and measuring everything we do with the Fa, we can negate the interference created by the old forces and take the path of Fa validation well.

10. The persecution was not necessary and it didn't have to occur. We can raise our levels as practitioners through diligently studying the Fa, while completely negating the old forces. "You are to walk your own path well while not acknowledging them." (Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference)

I heard from a friend that on November 20 around eight o'clock, when he was watching Beijing Satellite TV, the broadcast suddenly changed to a Falun Gong program. He was able to watch the majority of the program that exposed the lies of the staged "Tiananmen Self-immolation," including the slow motion analysis of when Liu Chunling was knocked down by a policeman wielding a club-like object. The signal lasted over twenty minutes. The program ended with information about overseas practitioners filing lawsuits against Jiang Zemin. At that point, the signal stopped, and there was only static.

According to a friend from another county, this was the second time he saw Falun Gong programs on TV. The first time was on CCTV in 2003. But this time, the program lasted longer and the images were clearer.

In recent days, there have been many Falun Gong banners hanging on the streets of Fulaerji District of Qiqihaer City, Helongjiang Province. Because of that, the local police arrested over ten practitioners. They are also investigating the incident and searching the area door to door. The practitioners were sent to a brainwashing center and mental hospital.

Mr. Cao Guozhi is a graduate from Jiamusi Normal University. Mr. Bi Yunfei graduated from the Harbin Institute of Technology. They and another practitioner with the surname of Zhu are currently jailed at Daqin Prison and are suffering inhuman treatment.

The prison guards at Daqin Prison often instigate the inmates to hurl insults at and beat Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Zhu is currently on hunger strike to protest the torture he is subjected to. The guards had the inmates force-feed him. They inserted the feeding tube into his body and then jerked it up and down to cause severe pain. The three practitioners were unlawfully sentenced to 8, 5, and 12 year terms respectively.

Ms. Li Shumin, 41 years old, was a nurse from Tianjin Second Subsidiary Hospital. On March 9, 2001, she was abducted to Banqiao Women Prison and placed in squadron 1 of brigade 5. Because she persisted in her practice of Falun Dafa, police Han Jinling, Song, He Yumei, Zen Yi and others dragged her into a pigpen on November 26, 2002. It was a cold winter day, and Ms. Li was only wearing light clothes. She died from prolonged exposure to the cold and the injuries she suffered at the police's hands. People who had seen her body said she had many injuries on her arms, legs and body. She was covered with bruises and marks from electric batons.

Ms. Li Chunhong works at Longfeng Market in Daqin City. In fall of 2004, someone reported Ms. Li to the police. The police from Xiangyang Police Station arrested her, and she is still being held unlawfully.

Ms. Xu Yongqin, 37 years old, was arrested on July 8, 2002. After being tortured by the staff from the Harbin Police Department for several days, she was sent to Wanjia Forced Labor Camp, where she was interrogated, tortured, and shocked with electric batons many times. She is currently being detained and persecuted at Harbin Women's Prison.

Ms. Gao Shuhua lived at a detergent factory dormitory in Shuangcheng City, Helongjiang Province. She operated a beverage business at Heihe. The local police arrested her for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Mr. Jin Mindong is a Falun Gong practitioner from Changchun City. He works in Shanghai. On November 6, 2004, he was arrested while clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. He is currently being detained at Heyuqiao Detention Center of Jiading District, Shanghai. He has been on a hunger strike for over ten days.

On October 2004, four Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. Qin Fang and Xiaocui from Qinghe County, Hebei Province were arrested. The police confiscated 2,000 yuan from Ms. Qin Fang.

Lingxi County Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Fengying and her husband Mr. Liu Guoguang were arrested in November 2004.

Police from Liao City and Handan City, Hebei Province arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Zhaoyong from Xin County, Liao City of Shandong Province. He was taken to the 610 Office of Liao City. After being on hunger strike for over 40 days, he left there with righteous thoughts. The driver who was arrested at the same time with him was released.

Mr. Qian Shukun from Guan County, Shandong Province has been released. Mr. Hao Zengwang and Mr. Wang Zhaowei, who were arrested at the same time with Qian, are still being detained.

Mr. Zuo Huansu is from Pu'er Village, Paihui Town, Wu'an City, Hebei Province. He was arrested by police from the Paihui Town Police Station while he was handing out Falun Gong materials. He has been detained at Beishan Detention Center (86-310-5610878) for further persecution.

Mr. Liu Enpei is a retiree of the Handan City Water Bureau. Under pressure from the 610 Office, the director of Handan City Water Bureau Hu Xinsuo, leading a group of bureau employees, broke into Liu's home. Police officer Hu Haoshun from Luotou Police Station of Handan City was part of this group. They arrested Liu and took him to the bureau office. They assigned people to monitor him at all times. Liu was asked to write the so-called "Guarantee Statements" to renounce Falun Gong, but he refused.

On November 19, 2004, Ms. Li Qiumei was reported to the police for telling people about Falun Gong. Ms. Li is from Xiadingjia Village of Xiadingjia Town, Longkou City. The police arrested her and searched her home.

In the morning of November 23, 2004, Ms. Liu, a 60-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was reading a Falun Dafa book at the Feihu Curtain Shop. The shop is owned by her family and is located on Chigang Yiyuan Road of Guangzhou City. The fire inspector and police from Chigang Police Station discovered it while on an inspection tour. The police wanted to confiscate the books. Ms. Liu ran out the shop in an effort to protect the books. Zhu Rencheng, her son, who is also a practitioner, attempted to stop the police. Later, police who were called in arrested Ms. Liu and her son. The police also put the shop under surveillance. In the morning of November 24, the police again searched the store and confiscated some of the goods.

Ms. Liu's entire immediate family practices Falun Gong. Her daughter Zhu Yuhong was sentenced to 13 years in prison. She is detained at Zhuliao Women's Prison. Her son-in-law Shi Huiwen was illegally sentenced to 4 years in prison, and is currently detained at Shaoguan Prison.

Ms. Jiang Naiyan and Ms. Wang Ling are from Niangnianggong Township, Linghai City, Liaoning Province. At midnight of November 20, officers from Niangnianggong border patrol arrested them for spray painting "Falun Dafa is Good" on a pole. They were taken to the border patrol office. The office manager Han Gang demanded 3,000 yuan from each practitioner's family and threatened to send them to labor camp. Although the practitioner's families have already paid the fine, Han still wants to pursue the matter.

Ms. Li Shuying from Xiamen City, Fujian Province was reported to the police in December 2003. Police from Gongyuan Police Station of Xiamen Police Department arrested her and searched her home. They also arrested her niece and her 70-year-old mother, who were with her at the time. Her niece was detained for one month. Ms. Li has been detained at Xiamen No. 1 Detention Center. On November 12, she was sentenced to a five-year prison term during the third court hearing. Her family is planning to appeal her sentence.

Ms. Zhou Bixian is from Lushan District, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. She is 48 years old and works for the Lunshan Environment Protection Agency. On November 11, 2004, she was reported to the police while handing out truth-clarifying materials. She was arrested and taken to a detention center.

Ms. Dan Xiaoling works at Pacific Computer City of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. On November 21, 2004, police from No. 1 Police Station took her into custody. Soon after that, a group of police officers broke into her home and illegally searched the place. They confiscated many items, including a television set.

In the morning of October 29, four Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. Ai Juwen, Ms. Wu Wenying and Mr. Ou Yang, were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in Jiangli Village, Nanjing Township, Leiyang City when they were reported to the police. Under the direction of Nation Security Unit of the Police Department, police from Nanjing Police Station sent officers to the village to arrest them. Upon arrival, the police could not be reasoned with. They grabbed the practitioners by their hair and dragged them by their clothes to the police car. The practitioners were taken to the local police station, where they suffered a body-search and interrogation. Later one practitioner escaped, and the other three were sent to the National Security Unit. At 10pm that evening, the police sent the three practitioners to Leiyang Detention Center. However, since all three practitioners are in their sixties, the detention center was reluctant to accept them. So the police of the National Security Unit asked for instructions from their superiors. Finally, they sent Mr. Ou Yang home. Ms. Ai and Ms.Wu are being detained at Laiyang Detention Center.

Furthermore, on November 7, police arrested another practitioner Zen Zhaoqin for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong at Longtan Market Place. Zen is currently being detained at Laiyang Detention Center.

Ms. Yang Shunmei is from Xiaotun Village, Haidian District of Beijing. She was arrested while handing out truth-clarifying materials at Chaoyang District in 2003. She already had been detained at Fengtai Detention Center before. Later, she was transferred to Chaoyang District Detention Center. She has been detained for almost a year now.

Mr. Chai Xiaoxi is an employee of Tsinghua University. During a business trip, Falun Gong material was found in his luggage by airport security inspectors. He was arrested and his home was searched.

Ms. Wang Fuling is a retiree living at a dormitory near Haidian District Zoo. During the Chinese New Year of 2003, she went to a friend's home to visit and was arrested. Later, her home was ransacked and searched. She was sentenced to two years in prison. She is currently being jailed at Daxing Women Prison.

Ms. Liu Junlu and Mr. Wang Hongfeng were arrested at a Falun Gong materials site in August 2001. At the end of 2002, Ms. Liu was sentenced to 12 years and Mr. Wang was sentenced to 8 years in prison. Right before the Chinese New Year of 2003, Ms. Liu was sent to Dabei Women Prison in Shenyang City. She is in Unit 2, Brigade 8. Mr. Wang was sent to Wafangdian Prison in Dalian City.

At around 4 pm on November 24, police from Yonghongqiao Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Yueqin and her husband, Mr. He Yixing. They also searched their home. The whereabouts of Zhang and He are currently unknown. It is said Mr. He was beaten by the police and had bloodstains on his face at the time of arrest.

Approximate one month ago, police from Jieshan Police Station arrested Ms. Cheng Fuhua from Dailian City when she was posting Falun Gong flyers near Qingyun Street of Zhongshan District. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.

Ms. Gao Chaoqiong lives near the Agriculture Bank of Panzhihua City. She was arrested in May this year and is currently being detained at Yanbian County Detention Center. She was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Zen Yuxian was the head of the finance department at the Commerce Bureau of Cangxi County, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province. Because Zen refused to renounce Falun Gong, the police searched Zen's home and extorted a large amount of money from the family. Zen was sentenced to three years in prison. Zen is currently being detained at Xinhua Forced Labor Camp of Mianyang City. Due to the persecution, Zen's family was broken apart.

On November 24, 2004, around noon, police and officials from Beixing Farm broke into Mr. Li Xianzhong's home at Team 13 of Beixing Farm of Qitaihe City, Helongjiang Province. The perpetrators are Beixing Farm Party Secretary Han Qiu, security guard Li Yuhai, police Zhang Fushan (station director), Li Huailai, Lian Baisheng, and Ma Guoliang (driver). They lied to and threatened Li and his family. They forced them to turn in Falun Gong materials. Because Li's family turned in some materials, Li was forcefully taken away. Later these people broke into Mr. Tian Hongwei's home and took him away too. They are being detained at Beixing Farm Detention Center. The families are not allowed to visit them.

I am 12 years old. When the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, I was only 8 years old. I could not tell good from bad since I was very young. On September 26, 2000, my mother went to appeal in Beijing, after which she was sentenced to 3 years of forced labor. Although I did not commit any crime against Falun Dafa and Teacher Li, I was resentful against Teacher Li and Falun Dafa. From now on, I will completely negate the old forces' arrangements, respect Falun Dafa, genuinely cultivate according to the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," do more good things for Falun Dafa, and meet the standard of a young Falun Dafa practitioner.

However, because I was young, after I watched TV programs and read newspaper articles attacking Falun Dafa, I became very afraid, and I did things that a practitioner should not do. Here I solemnly declare that all the things I said and wrote which did not conform to Falun Dafa are void. From now on, I will cultivate diligently and act according to the standard of Falun Dafa principles, completely negate the old forces' arrangements, double my effort to make up for the damage I caused to Falun Dafa, and firmly cultivate Dafa until I reach consummation.

When I was in the first and second grade in primary school, my teacher ordered me to go to the office, where he/she threatened me and forced me into saying and writing things against Falun Dafa. I have always felt deeply regretful for the wrongdoings I committed. Now I solemnly declare that all the things I said and wrote against Falun Dafa are void. I ask for Teacher's Li's forgiveness. I still want to be Teacher Li's young student and cultivate Falun Dafa. I will try my best to do the three things (which all Dafa practitioners should do) well and make up for the damage I have caused to Falun Dafa.
