Practitioner Mr. Lei Ming Contracts Pulmonary Tuberculosis Due to Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Mr. Lei Min, 29 years old, from Baishan City, Jilin Province, participated in broadcasting truth clarification programs over the Changchun Cable TV network in March 2002. In October 2002, Mr. Lei was sentenced to 17 years in prison.

Mr. Lei is currently incarcerated in Section 7 of the Jilin Prison. Several inmates brutally beat him on the first day of his sentence. They have forced him to write the "four statements." Mr. Lei suffered barbarous tortures such as "flicking the eyeballs" and "squeezing the private parts." Mr. Lei's protest against this cruel treatment only brought him more torment. The Strict Control Team's leader Song Yufeng and officer Liu Tiejun have intensified the persecution against Mr. Lei.

These culprits used a special bed to stretch Mr. Lei, inflicting great physical pain, for seven days and then forced him to sit on a bench from 4:50 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. They also starved Mr. Lei. After five months of persecution, Mr. Lei's health significantly deteriorated. He could no longer walk properly, and his weight dropped from 143 to 72 pounds. Then he was sent back to the regular section of the prison.

On February 18, 2004, Mr. Lei was caught reading Teacher's new article. Despite Mr. Lei's poor health, officers Song Yufeng, Liu Tiejun, and Yu Zhongze sent him once again to the Strict Control Team. For four and a half months, officers Li and Wang from the brainwashing branch often brutally interrogated Mr. Lei, looking for the source of the article. Torture further emaciated Mr. Lei, who now spits blood occasionally.

On July 2, 2004, Mr. Lei was carried back to the regular prison cell. He was very thin and could not walk or take care of himself. On November 8, 2004, he was sent to the Jilin Prison hospital for treatment due to heart problems and pulmonary tuberculosis. He was later transferred to the Changchun Labor Camp hospital. In late November, the police told Mr. Lei's family to submit the proper documents to take Mr. Lei Ming home for further medical treatment. At that time, Mr. Lei's parents were both over 60 years old and in poor health. They had to cope with their own health problems (hypertension) and handle the paperwork for their son's probation. After they had finished the paperwork, however, the police claimed that Mr. Lei's condition had improved and that he would not be sent home to seek medical attention. No information on Mr. Lei's current situation is available.

In July 2004, the Jilin 610 Office started a new round of brainwashing imprisoned practitioners. Officer Li of the education branch has assigned groups of officers to brainwash every practitioner individually everyday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. If a practitioner refuses to renounce Falun Gong, he will be subjected to brutal tortures, such as the stretching bed, in the Strict Control Team. The brainwashing and persecution continue to this day.
